Fantastic location and place was super clean and ready to go. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
While this condo may seem a bit out of the way for those without an automobile, it is within walking distance of the Pearl District and downtown (if you're a walker), and close to the streetcar and the MAX (if you're not). The thing that is so special about it is that Cate has thought of everything a guest might conceivably need and has it readily available in the condo. The kitchen is remarkably well-equipped if you like cooking your own meals. There are even spices on hand so you don't have to buy them all. We stayed here during the winter, so we didn't get a chance to use the patio, but the views of the river are gorgeous and watching the river traffic can be addictive. As some reviewers have said, there is a good bit of noise from trains across the river, but I slept fine with a white noise machine and didn't have to use earplugs. That said, there are lots of outside decks and patios within a very small radius, so I imagine it could get much noisier during the summer. Some have said the condo is not suitable for over-55s, but we (62 and 73) didn't have problems, after getting the luggage up the stairs to the front door (which isn't all that difficult). If you have mobility issues, it is not for you, but your age should not be the determining factor. Very comfy and spotlessly clean, with a small library in case you don't want to go out on a rainy day. Cate is very responsive, so if you have any questions or problems, she will get right back to you.
If you are looking for location, comfort and attention to detail, this is the perfect place to stay in Portland. The amazing views made you feel like you were sitting on a cruise ship. We loved watching the boats on the river, the birds and the trains. The condo was comfortably furnished, from the leather sofa to the Tempurpedic beds. The kitchen was well stocked with everything, as were the bathrooms. Cate was always available and responsive. She supplied lots of information on things to do, restaurants, etc. There is a strong wi-fi connection. We were able to walk downtown to Saturday Market and to the Pearl District. If there was a drawback for us, it was the walk from the parking lot and up stairs with our luggage since we had to make several trips. This was quickly forgotten once we were in the condo though. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.
This is a beautifully equipped property in the heart of Portland. Comfortable and homey - far from an impersonal hotel!! The location is excellent - with beautiful views to the river and easy walking distance to the brew bars and restaurants of the city. Also a comfortable walk to the convention centre. Great spot!!
If you are visiting Portland we would highly recommend that you consider this condo.
The condo is magnificent and has everything you could wish for, you could not feel more at home.
Cate the owner has thought of everything so the condo is very well equipped, and extremely comfortable. You also have access to a pool and spa.
The pearl district and downtown are close at hand and in walking distance, so lots to do.
Thank you Cate and Portland.
The view from the many windows of this condo are marvelous. You are right under a drawbridge which was built in 1911 and is an industrial marvel. The river is directly under the condo, so if you like, you can sit and watch the boats go by, or the lights on the river at night, which are especially beautiful.
The condo is well-maintained and very comfortable, as well as spacious, for downtown Portland. It has 2 floors and good, comfortable beds. It's very well-stocked with everything you can think of in duplicate. Cate, the manager is very responsive and will immediately answer any questions you might have. There is a pool and whirlpool at the tenant's disposal. We didn't use them, but they're right next to the condo. We couldn't have asked for a nicer, more pleasant rental experience. Thanks, Cate!
Walk or take public transit everywhere. Dock of the Bay Condo is located right above the 15 mile river hike/bike Springwater Trail. Short walk to excellent coffee, bakeries, Saturday Market on the river, downtown shopping, Convention Center, Amtrak, Chinese Garden, waterfront festivals, world famous micro breweries, games & concerts at the Rose Garden Arena, art galleries in the Pearl District & a huge variety of gourmet restaurants in the foodie heaven called Portland. You have a dedicated off-street parking space but there is no need for a car as Portland sports one of the best public transportation systems in the nation. Hop on the MAX lite-rail at the airport and arrive a short walk (2 blocks) from the condo. The MAX takes you to all corners of Portland: the Rose Garden, Portland Zoo, Children’s Museum, hikes in Forest Park, Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion, Pioneer Square. Take the Portland Trolley through Northwest Portland's upscale shopping district & to the South Waterfront.
