Overview

Cornwall Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6 (4 adults and 2 kids max)

Completely secluded cabin in the woods on 5 acres of land surrounded by a nature preserve. Walk out the door to hiking trails, waterfall, cross-country skiing (weather permitting).

A nature-lovers paradise in every season. Deer are spotted regularly and occasionally one may hear of a bear sighting. Plus there is a Fox den just around the bend.

Down the road from Museum of the Hudson Highlands and Jones Farm.

Art lovers are minutes from Storm King Art Center and a short drive from DIA Beacon.

A vacation paradise in every season.

Commutable to NYC by train to Hoboken or Express bus to Port Authority.

Owner Profile: This is our third year renting out our cabin. We've enjoyed it tremendously over the past 20 years but our schedules are making it difficult to make it up every weekend as we use to.

We hope you get as much enjoyment out of this special place as we have over the years.

I chose this location because of the outstanding beauty and seclusion of the property. The close proximity to NYC was a fabulous addition to this charming getaway.

You will not believe that a house so situated close to NYC can possibly be this secluded and beautiful.

The mile long dirt road bordering a nature preserve makes you feel like you are vacationing miles from civilization.

The beauty of this property is that you feel cut off but you are not. If you so desire there are restaurants, movie theaters, transportation to the city and the Hudson River all within a 15 minute drive.

The Storm King Art Center is just down the road.

Hiking just out the front door and cross country skiing during the snowy winter months.

A stroll down the wooded dirt road is a perfect way to start and/or end your day.

Enjoy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to Thank You so much for renting us your lovely cabin in the woods. What a magical place. We were lucky enough to be able to stay there at Christmas this past year and the cabin and grounds couldn't have been nicer. The Christmas tree, fireplace and the building were all covered in lights and beautifully decorated. We spent many evenings either next to the great fireplace or out on the deck watching the sun set behind the pines.

The cabin had everything we needed so we took advantage of the kitchen and prepared some lovely meals at home.

The bedrooms were clean and neat and we slept like babies.

Needless to say we were totally relaxed and our 3 day stay ended way too soon.

We well be back as soon as we can.

Thanks again

Perfect family time

  • 5 of 5
The cabin and its location are perfect! Isolated enough to enjoy a calm setting in the woods but close to a lot of activities for everybody (in our case, with 2 young children). From the beautiful waterfall (very close) to Storm King to John's farm where you can enjoy treats and animal petting, it was great.
The cabin itself is a great mix of a older time place mix with a modern set up (wifi,...).
If you have a car, shopping is also pretty close.
In addition, big thanks to the owners to make everything easy and clear. Very helpful!
In short, a highly recommended place.

The perfect retreat

  • 5 of 5
We rented this cabin for 3 adults and one child (my husband, myself, my father and our 2-yr old daughter) for five days in October, and the cabin was absolutely ideal for us. The communication leading up to our stay was prompt, coherent and personal as we were able to ask questions over the phone, which we appreciated. The owners were happy to accommodate our arrival and departure times, and there were excellent tips and guidelines for our stay which were most helpful. We found the description of the cabin and its amenities to be very accurate, in fact everything exceeded our expectations and there were many unexpected 'perks' ranging from a beautifully decorated child's room with many toys to excellent staples in the kitchen- spices and such- although we bought or brought everything we needed at conveniently located grocery stores. The Woodbury Outlet is just a stone's throw from the cabin with incredible shopping, and the Jones Farm is lovely, sells its home-made products and has animals for the children to feed. We took the train into Manhattan for a day trip and the Harriman station was easy to access; it took us about 1 or 1 1/2 hrs to arrive in Manhattan on the train. The cabin was spotless and it is completely charming and extremely comfortable. The layout was perfect for us and everyone slept very well thanks to comfortable beds and total tranquility. The fall foliage was spectacular and our daughter had a blast playing on the outdoor play set... what a bonus! We did not use the BBQ's but it is a wonderful option to have for meal preparation. There was no shortage of 'nice touches' in the cabin, and we hope to enjoy another stay in the near future. Our sincere gratitude for such an amazing stay.

We loved this cabin!

  • 4 of 5
We loved this cabin. It was just the right size for our family. We have 2 boys, ages 2 and 4 and it was a perfect spot for us. The play area and deck were great! Loved the fireplace! It is cozy, and rustic, and just what we were looking for. Allyson and Tammy could not have been more helpful or accommodating! We would not hesitate to book this cabin again the next time we visit the area. Beds were comfortable, cabin was clean, there were some toys available for the kids. Living room was very comfy and cozy to relax by the fire. The surrounding property was beautiful. It was a perfect home away from home!

Great cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5
This was a wonderful rustic cabin. It is on a beautiful lot on a hill. The living area is quaint and cozy and the deck is great We had a wonderful time hanging out in the yard. The owners are very helpful and answered all my questions. We stayed at the house while we were visiting our son at West Point. He loved just hanging out at the house and relaxing. They have great internet service and a wide range of video entertainment. The kitchen was a little tight, but it was great for one person and had everything you could need for cooking. Thank you Allyson & Tammy for sharing your great space with us.

The outdoor life

  • 5 of 5
This little cabin in the woods is a great place to get away from your troubles. It's located on a wonderful piece of property with trees all around, and not a house in sight. The cabin is a little tight inside, but you will want to spend most of your time outside on the deck enjoying the fresh air, anyway. There is a grill on the deck, and we enjoyed eating every meal outside. The kids enjoyed playing on the large playset on the property.

The cabin actually has a great internet connection, as well as some electronics such as a game console, a couple TVs, Netflix, a stereo with indoor and outdoor speakers.

The owners are extremely friendly and hospitable. We didn't see them, but they made sure to leave their info where we could easily find it in case we needed anything.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cabin to someone who enjoys being outside, and having some privacy, without getting too far away from "civilization."

Cozy and definitely feel you are away!

  • 4 of 5
Yup, saw a bear while bbq'ing! And deer and turkey. It was great to be really "away". Got to relax. Cabin was as pictured and instructions provided in the cabin were very clear. Loved playing Ella and Etta on the outdoor speakers while grilling. And Storm King is a stone's throw away and rocks. I will definitely visit again!
