I was born and raised in Ireland. I spent 20 years being a farmer in Ireland then started my current career in Computer Science and Math. I have a PhD in Engineering Math. My big passion is leveraging Big Data using tools from Data Mining and Statistical Machine Learning. I also teach at the University of California at Santa Cruz (and Berkeley).
Since leaving Ireland, I have lived in variety of places over the past 20 years: Tokyo (Japan); Bristol (UK); Grenoble (France); Pittsburgh (PA, USA); and now here in San Francisco.
I speak Irish, French and Japanese and a variety of English dialects.

The place was immaculate, very well appointed and the views incredible. Thank you, we would stay here again. Great neighborhood as well!
This nicely-appointed and quiet apartment had everything I needed...even came with an exercise area, namely 28th Street coming up from Church after getting off the J! (For a final aerobic push take the shortcut up the really steep stairs off of the one-block Castro Street to Duncan). I whined a bit at first about the steep walks, but after a couple of days, it was fine, and besides, the neighborhood is very safe even at night. In spite of the steep walks the location is fabulous mainly because of the view and the beautiful and walkable Noe Valley neighborhood. This is one of the only places we have rented in San Francisco with a King-size bed, which was very comfortable (and I'm very particular about beds!). The kitchen was decently outfitted and everything was in good working order (would have liked a stove-top espresso pot :-)!). I also loved the top-down blinds in the living room so that you can look out at the amazing view of San Francisco without the neighbors below being able to see in. I did not have one issue while staying and would stay here again.
This was our second visit within 2 months, so we knew what to expect. In fact, we scheduled our week in San Francisco to coincide with availability of this apartment. Still perfect as we expected as weather cooperated to provide constant beautiful views.
We found this little gem of a place and were even more surprised upon arrival. Perched on top of what seems like a mountain (but one of the many steep, steep hills in San Francisco), this quiet cul-de-sac home offers stunning views of the Bay Bridge and city below. Inside the comfortable and clean accommodations were perfect. Even a small kitchen with fridge, stove in case you want to eat in. For the price of a more expensive hotel room, this is the way to stay!
*****HERE ARE SOME NOTES, however, that can help you if you plan to stay here.*****
#1) This apartment is on top of a very steep hill. If you do not have a car and plan walking from the town below plan on a heck of a workout! THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO STAY WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION! When we visited in February during the super rainy season, we walked many times down steep hills and many blocks to town (we took a cab from the airport and used public transportation.) You can either cab/uber it or just know your glutes and quads will be firmly sculpted when you leave!
#2) The shower in the bathroom is tricky. We couldn't use it the first night because we couldn't find the mechanism to engage the shower. Plus, there was no information at time of our stay on how to operate shower. Please note: There is a ring under the spout of the tub. You pull on this (if we remember correctly!)
#3 Make sure you get your security deposit refunded. We discovered (a year later) that ours had not been but VRBO was first class as was the property manager/owner at the time of discovery. It was immediately refunded. We thank you for that!
All in all, an affordable, nicely appointed home with great views. (How much time do you spend in hotel room or place you're staying anyway, right?) If you plan to park a car, there should be a space if needed.
Great views and location. We immediately booked it for out next trip to SF to visit a new grandchild. Close to transportation and to shops, restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores along 24th. Beautiful neighborhood and Uber makes it easy to go back and forth if the hills become too much. Comfortable bed and nicely laid out apartment. We will definitely stay there again.
Other than a slow sink drain that was quickly fixed before in became an inconvenience (good service) this apartment was perfectly comfortable with a beautiful view. Every look out the big picture window or deck doors (or from the deck) was hypnotizing, whether watching distant plans lining up into SFO at night or the far end of the Bay Bridge and East Bay during the day. Not an easy place to walk to from other Noe valley streets, but a great workout if you do! (but easy access with no stairs and flat in immediate neighborhood for parking and walking to car).
