COZY COTTAGE IN HISTORIC SILVER PLUME, SKI PASS INCLUDED FOR ENTIRE STAY!

Georgetown Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2+ Bedrooms, 1 Bath, mountain views. Suite also available upon inquiry.

Beautifully restored Victorian cottage located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Cozy and comfortable with many amenities and easy access via I-70 to major ski resorts including Loveland Ski Area, Arapaho Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain and Vail. Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage has everything you need for a great ski or summer mountain vacation. Inquire about our sister property, Sunset Suite, located next door to the cottage. The Suite is a loft-style space with King size bed, living area with Queen sleeper sofa, full kitchen and bath. This property would sleep an additional 2-4 people if you are in need of additional space.

Enjoy views of the Continental Divide from the newly added living space with French doors, vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. There are two bedrooms with double beds in each and an additional living space with queen sleeper sofa that can be closed off for privacy. The kitchen is fully furnished including dishwasher and all cooking utensils. Full bathroom and laundry make it as comfortable as your own home.

Located in the quaint historic town of Silver Plume - founded in the 1860's during the gold and silver rush - the false-front main street and unpaved roads will take you back in time. Sopp & Truscott Bakery, established in the 1880's, is just a short walk down the street and has famously delicious bread. Georgetown is two miles East on I-70 and has many restaurants, shopping, grocery supplies, and mine and rail tours. Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, back country ski touring, bird watching, wildlife viewing, rock and ice climbing are right outside the door.

Follow the back yard trail up to the Griffin Memorial monument and during the right time of year you may find some wild strawberries and raspberries or see a Big Horn Sheep or Mountain Goat. Or sit on the covered front porch with a cup of tea and enjoy the light on Sunrise Peak as the sun comes up or the hummingbirds as they migrate and play. Wherever your vacation takes you, Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage will become your home away from home.

About Darcee Mond

Eben and I both grew up in Iowa and met at age eight on the ski race team. We both love the mountains and skiing which brought us to Colorado about ten years ago. Eben is the Freeride Team coach at Loveland and he is a Landscaper during warmer months. I coach racing at Loveland and teach yoga. We have a new addition to the family, our son Huxley, who is an amazing little man. We also have two of the greatest dogs, Rufus a Golden and Siesta a Newfoundland-Golden, who may let themselves into the cottage for a treat if the door happens to be left open! They like to meet new people as much as we do.

Darcee Mond purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Darcee Mond chose Georgetown

About seven years ago we decided to follow our hearts and move to the mountains that we love so much. Silver Plume, with it's laid back charm and easy access to all, is the perfect place for us. Then, when the run-down cabin next door to our house came up for sale our parent's helped us restore it into a vacation home and rental. Gail and Joe - Eben's parents - are home builders, antique-rs and interior decorating masters. Together we gutted, insulated, roofed, straightened, cleaned, added, floored, painted and decorated the house and now we want to share it with others who love the mountains too!

What makes this cottage unique

The mountains have so much to offer. The beauty, wildlife, wildness, skiing, back country touring, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are a few of our favorites. We've had the pleasure of seeing many Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, a few brown bear, a couple moose and even one Lynx in our back yard, plus the area is known for the hummingbird migration. The hiking is fantastic, as are the views, and the cottage abuts National Forest. I like to take the dogs for a walk through town to the bakery for cookies. Georgetown is less than five minutes, Summit County is just twenty minutes, and Denver is only an hour away, each offering great restaurants and shopping. World class skiing is a ten minute drive and you will receive a free pass to Loveland Ski Area to use during your stay at Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage.

Loved Every Minute!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I and our two girls (ages 1 and 2) loved, loved, loved staying in Silver Plume! The cottage was just beautiful and homey. The location was a great jumping point to Golden, Denver, and Rocky Mountain National Park for us. Having laundry was a great plus for our messy family! We would definitely stay again!

Charming mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5
We stayed 3 nights in this darling cabin with our two girls aged 10 & 16. The girls absoutely loved the decor and had fun admiring all the antique trinkets found in each room. My husband loved the cable t.v. & that he had cell phone signal...we came to climb a 14er and found that the proximity of the cabin was perfect as it's right off I-70 and just 5 min drive to Georgetown. We also hiked the trail just behind the cabin and it was beautiful! Highly recommend and would definitely stay again if we come back to this part of Colorado.

Pictures can not do justice to this cottage. It was the perfect choice for our family. The 4th of July in Georgetown was retro perfection! The hiking trail was great( the view is unreal ). The location is perfect for whatever you decide to do or go. And the price is better than any hotel or motel. I want to come back very soon. If you have an antiquer in your family, this IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

Magical Stay - Bighorn Sheep Included

  • 5 of 5
A beautiful cottage that my wife and I stayed at for a long weekend of skiing. The setting was gorgeous and the house was perfectly kept. The owner was very responsive. Skiing at Loveland was perfect! Georgetown is nearby and has good restaurants and having a well appointed kitchen made breakfasts a real treat. We were even lucky enough to see a flock of bighorn sheep climbing up the cliff directly behind the house!

It is amazing how a quick drive out of Denver puts you in such a different world, definitely would recommend this house for a great getaway.

If You Like Quiet and Off the Beaten Track...

  • 5 of 5
We were looking for some dad/daughter time to snowboard, snowmobile, hang out and enjoy Colorado's natural beauty. After a quick stop in Idaho Springs for groceries and our favorite Colorado pizza joint (Beau Jo's), we set up "base camp" at Darcee and Eben's Sunrise Cottage. The cabin is well equipped, quaint and comfortable. The Loveland ski pass made our snowboarding affordable, and the location of the cabin made us feel like we were well away from the commercial mayhem of the ski towns during spring break. Looking forward to trying a summer trip in the future!

Great Cottage!

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is accurately described and a wonderful place to stay. However, the pictures do not do justice to the many antiques and interesting decor carefully placed throughout the cottage. Everything was well organized and the owners are super responsive.

My husband and two sons (ages 10 and 12) stayed here for a long weekend. We skied Loveland three days. I was able to use the ski pass and only buy child lift tickets ($27 each) so this was a great bargain.

We bought groceries in Denver on the way and cooked almost all meals in the cottage. We did go to Georgetown for one night for dinner and it was very good. Georgetown is just a few minutes down the road and such a quaint town.

It was great to have the washing machine and dryer to wash our ski clothes daily. The fire and family room with TV is cozy and welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage :)
