About The Owner

Three years ago, my wife and I were looking on the west end for a place on water. We searched everywhere to find just the right place.....many were the times we found land and only a small pond or a barely visible stream. Some places required a huge renovation of the exisiting house or cabin. When we found Riverside Retreat, we knew we were home. The view of the river took our breath away and we soon found that everytime we visited and stayed a few days, we were refreshed and renewed by the serenity and beauty here. I am a retired educator and my wife owns her own business. We live about an hour and a half away in Sequim.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1981

This property is unique in its location right on the banks of the Sol Duc River. The river provides a gorgeous scenic viewpoint from inside the cabin or sitting out on the back deck. Even though the cabin is just off Olympic highway 101, it is very quiet, secure and private. The cabin is also conveniently located close to many area attractions that can be visited in a day. The view downriver is incredible and balm for the soul. It has to be seen to be believed. Our cozy cabin is beautifully decorated with period antiques and comfortable furniture to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Everything is provided for your stay....all you need to do is make a reservation and enjoy this special place!

Approximately 10 miles to Sol Duc Hot Springs, Lake Crescent Lodge; Forks, Washington (home of Twilight) La Push, Rialto beach; other Washington Coast beaches; within easy distance for day trips to Kahlaloch Lodge, Quinalt Lodge, Neah Bay, Sekiu and Clallam Bay for fishing, sightseeing, etc and return to cottage; excellent for watching the river flow by and doing 'nothing' but relaxing!

There were no reviews on this place so we weren't sure what to expect but we were not disappointed. If you love rivers as we do this place is over the top. We spent a fabulous Thanksgiving here. We even made an entire turkey dinner. The kitchen is well stocked and had most of what we needed. We did bring along a few pans just in case. The house is very cozy and the beds are comfortable (also a biggy for us). It was so nice to have a warm fire and just sit and look out the window at the river. It is literally at your door step. You can crack the bedroom window, snuggle under some nice warm comforters and fall asleep to the sound of the river. We will definitly come back again.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
