Adventure, stunning scenic beauty, peaceful privacy & relaxation, sparkling trout streams, dense wilderness, abounding wildlife; just a few of the things we offer at the Bauer Ranch near Philipsburg, Montana.
The property is situated at the base of the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness in the rugged Rocky Mountains of Montana. The ranch has 7,000 acres and is bordered by US Forest Service land on 3 sides. The land consumes three valleys each with a tributary of world famous Rock Creek meandering through it's bottom. The mountain ridges between these valleys are home to hundreds of elk, as well as moose, bear, deer, wolves, mountain lions, eagles and much more.
Our accommodations include a spectacular 4 level log lodge with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a giant kitchen, living room and deck. An included detached cottage offers 3 more bedrooms, kitchen and living room.
The best of Montana hiking, trekking, horse riding, fishing, hunting, scenic viewing, off roading and more can be found all within a stones throw of this amazing location. We have unique activities including private fishing access to 3 tributaries of Rock Creek, target shooting, skeet shooting, gold panning, tubing and floating, photography and so much more.
The ranch is located 20 minutes from historic Philipsburg, a restored mining town that features dining, a world famous candy store, shops, gems and live shows at the Opera House Theatre, built in 1891, it is recognized as the oldest continually operating theatre in Montana!.
A beautiful 30 minute drive up the Pintler Scenic Route brings you to Georgetown Lake (fishing, water-skiing, snowmobiling) and Discovery Ski Area (5 lifts). Our location, set between Philipsburg and Georgetown, is extremely secluded and strikingly beautiful and inspiring.
Approximately 95 miles from Missoula International Airport or Butte, Airport.

Having been born and raised here, one might think I am biased regarding my high opinion of this area of Montana. However, I have traveled around the world, through Alaska and the entire Mid West and South Western Montana remains at the top of my list. I'd be more than happy to tell you all about it, and to share my tales as to why this area is so special. The wildlife is so abundant, the fishing second to none, the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains at its best, the freedom of the Big Sky Country and the kindness of all those who pass here, I love it all!
Some of my personal favorite activities include camping, hiking, horse back riding, target shooting and skeet shooting and motorcycle riding and snowmobiling. ..and that's just a few! I do love to travel and I remain blessed beyond words to call this my home.
Ryan Chrys purchased this lodge in 1966
I was born here, my grandfather purchased this place when he felt the connection.
There is a lot of history in this valley. Through the years my family has discovered many old homesteads, mines, and such things as buffalo skulls and Indian arrow heads. It is so secluded we have a target shooting range out the back door and we play music with electric guitars and a generator by the campfire. We don't have to be loud though, the cool fresh air and peaceful breeze combined with the beauty of the mountains and streams is what I always return to.
