We love our cottage but of course our opinion is biased. Please click on 'Reviews' for unbiased opinions.
That said... if you want to walk to the Zoo, museums, dozens of local restaurants and bars, we have the place for you. We also have a DecoBike kiosk 1/2 block away and San Diego's downtown historic Gas Lamp district and Coronado beaches are just a 15 minute drive away. For sports enthusiasts will find golf, disc golf, tennis, swimming, hiking and running trails all within walking distance.

We love Craftsman style homes! Sharon is a Realtor and Michael is a General Contractor. Our passion is making our homes comfortable, functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Mike Bythewood purchased this cottage in 2007
Location, location, location! Centrally located North Park offers easy access to the most popular attractions San Diego has to offer. Great year-round weather and no bugs are a plus too! (We're both originally from southern states) Since moving to San Diego in 1983 we have resided in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Downtown San Diego but North Park is by far our favorite place to live.
Our home is on a quiet, 1-block long section of Spruce. North Park is a centrally located San Diego neighborhood and an easy drive to Sea World, Coronado, Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium, the downtown bayfront and dozens of other attractions.
My husband and I stayed at the cottage for 4 nights. It was a wonderful and very comfortable experience. It's located very close to Balboa Park, which made it easy to get to the zoo and other sightseeing locations. The cottage itself is furnished with a well-stocked kitchen, which made it easy to prepare small meals to suit my dietary restrictions rather than eat out every day. All through the cottage, there are small touches that reflect Mike and Sharon's thoughtfulness and desire to make their guests' stay comfortable. They even shared with us the kale they grow in their veggie garden! Thanks so much, Mike and Sharon. We would definitely return if we come back to San Diego.
My wife and I just ended a week stay at this lovely little cottage for a vacation. We had never been to San Diego before but we feel that because of our lodging we were able to make the absolute best of our stay. It's located in a great part of town with so many restaurants and shops and even breweries within walking distance. Having a well stocked full kitchen also helped us save some money on meals. Mike and Sharon were well accessible but left us our privacy, which was very nice :) I hated to leave this place. Highly recommended!
This cottage was just right for us. It was clean, attractive, and had all of the amenities we wanted.
Mike and Sharon loaned us a hiking book which was really helpful and they mailed us a jacket we had left behind.
Their place is just a few blocks from a fantastic bakery and easy access to beaches, museums etc. We would definitely go back.
We thoroughly enjoyed this very nicely decorated, fully furnished, clean cottage with a washer/dryer, private patio, outdoor gas grill and the relaxing sound of a water feature. We appreciated the extra towels, linens and bottled water. This cottage is perfect for two people and is located in a quiet residential neighborhood with parking and easy access to restaurants, grocery stores and the main attractions of San Diego. This was our first visit to San Diego and the cottage exceeded our expectations. Mike and Sharon were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the San Diego area.
Cannot say enough about this beautiful little cottage. Private patio, barbeque, well equipped kitchen, laundry facilities...the list goes on. We did not rent a car in San Diego took the bus all over the city and beyond and as we were seniors only $1.10 each one way. This cottage was only a block and a half from a bus stop that took us directly into town which was a very big deciding factor in staying there. The neighborhood was very nice with lots of friendly people. Bath products, start up coffee and sugar (little things like that) were things we have not found in other VRBO's we have stayed in in other cities in USA and Europe.
We stayed in Mike & Sharon's cottage for four nights at the end of January. The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfortable, with many, many extras. The kitchen is very well equipped and it was a nice touch to have some bottled water in the fridge. They have a gorgeous bathroom with a jetted soaker tub, and our hosts provided lovely bath products, a blow dryer and even candles and matches! In the bedroom, the bed was so comfortable and there were lots of drawers to store clothes. Plenty of seating in the living room and the entertainment choices were ample - very nice to have a flat screen tv that could access Netflix and other viewing possibilities. A nice touch was a wireless printer to print boarding passes. Our hosts also provided lots of magazines, and interesting books on San Diego. The laundry area was quite large with very nice appliances, and we appreciated the spaces for our suitcases, so that we could leave them in one place. The cottage feels very private and is peaceful and quiet, being fenced in, with a wonderful private outside dining/sitting area, equipped with a barbeque and lovely fountain. It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and work into creating the perfect little oasis for their guests. The neighbourhood was great, close to the zoo, restaurants, a local market and bus stops to get to other parts of San Diego. We did not meet Sharon, but Mike was very accommodating and helpful. I became ill and Mike quickly located a clinic for us. He also recommended a great restaurant where we had a phenomenal meal. We would definitely choose to stay here again in future.
Our cottage is walking distance from Balboa park and the world famous San Diego Zoo.
