We love our cottage but of course our opinion is biased. Please click on 'Reviews' for unbiased opinions.
That said... if you want to walk to the Zoo, museums, dozens of local restaurants and bars, we have the place for you. We also have a DecoBike kiosk 1/2 block away and San Diego's downtown historic Gas Lamp district and Coronado beaches are just a 15 minute drive away. For sports enthusiasts will find golf, disc golf, tennis, swimming, hiking and running trails all within walking distance.
Built in 1911, our 104 year old stable has been converted to a comfortable 1 bedroom cottage complete with all the amenities of home.
Here are just a few:
Full kitchen with all the utensils needed to prepare a gourmet meal. Heated tile floors in the bathroom and a whirlpool tub, hair dryer, quality shampoo and body wash, plenty of towels. Queen-size bed with memory foam mattress top (you will this see mentioned in our guest reviews.) Walk-in closet (almost bedroom size) with a laundry room with front load washer and dryer. Broadband internet access with WIFI and a printer/scanner. HD Cable TV, Blu-ray player, Netflix, Pandora web browser & more. Private fenced patio with stainless steel 3-burner BBQ.
We love Craftsman style homes! Sharon is a Realtor and Michael is a General Contractor. Our passion is making our homes comfortable, functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Mike Bythewood purchased this cottage in 2007
Location, location, location! Centrally located North Park offers easy access to the most popular attractions San Diego has to offer. Great year-round weather and no bugs are a plus too! (We're both originally from southern states) Since moving to San Diego in 1983 we have resided in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Downtown San Diego but North Park is by far our favorite place to live.
Our home is on a quiet, 1-block long section of Spruce. North Park is a centrally located San Diego neighborhood and an easy drive to Sea World, Coronado, Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium, the downtown bayfront and dozens of other attractions.
I'll be brief; this was probably one of the most enjoyable places I have ever stayed, and there is nothing I would have asked to be changed. Will definitely be returning, and would recommend to any and everyone.
We come to SD fairly often to see our children. We spent a week in this hidden jewel tucked away in a residential neighborhood of Craftsman bungalows. Our hosts couldn't have been nicer. The cottage was immaculate. It had everything we needed and more. The bed was fantastic. The kitchen was well stocked for whatever we were going to cook. The private patio lended itself perfectly for morning cofee and cocktails at the end of the day. The location was incredibly convenient to all of the major routes and major sites. Well worth every penny! We would definitely stay here again!
Spent 2 nights at this cute little cottage and loved everything about it. It was scrupulously clean, private and comfy. Location was good...easy to connect to freeways to all the San Diego sites. The neighbourhood is made up of street after street of gorgeous little arts and crafts and Spanish style cottages. Although we didn't have time this trip it would be a great place to stroll and admire the houses and yards. Sharon was very friendly but unobtrusive. We would certainly book this cottage again and recommend it to our friends!
This cottage was wonderful. Mike and Sharon are awesome awesome awesome. Will absolutely stay here every single time.
My husband and I stayed at the cottage for 4 nights. It was a wonderful and very comfortable experience. It's located very close to Balboa Park, which made it easy to get to the zoo and other sightseeing locations. The cottage itself is furnished with a well-stocked kitchen, which made it easy to prepare small meals to suit my dietary restrictions rather than eat out every day. All through the cottage, there are small touches that reflect Mike and Sharon's thoughtfulness and desire to make their guests' stay comfortable. They even shared with us the kale they grow in their veggie garden! Thanks so much, Mike and Sharon. We would definitely return if we come back to San Diego.
My wife and I just ended a week stay at this lovely little cottage for a vacation. We had never been to San Diego before but we feel that because of our lodging we were able to make the absolute best of our stay. It's located in a great part of town with so many restaurants and shops and even breweries within walking distance. Having a well stocked full kitchen also helped us save some money on meals. Mike and Sharon were well accessible but left us our privacy, which was very nice :) I hated to leave this place. Highly recommended!
Our cottage is walking distance from Balboa park and the world famous San Diego Zoo.
