We spent a week at this ultra private home. It was just as pictured with unbelievable views. When the early afternoon sun hits the water out front, it's a beautiful crystal blue/green and looks like paradise.
The house is well-equipped for cooking, relaxing, watching TV/Movies (it's a Smart TV and you can access Amazon Prime and other subscription services on it) or just watching the waves. The private sandy beach is a great place to hang out and enjoy the sunrise or read or whatever you want to do.
The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of towels! We appreciated Arish's quick response when the automatic door lock stopped working. We left the house and went back to get something and couldn't get back in. It wasn't a big deal and we just texted her about it and continued north for the day. It was all fixed when we got back that afternoon.
The location couldn't be more beautiful or convenient - I'm glad we chose this side of the island for our visit - it was lush and green - just like Hawaii should feel. Stand on the deck off the master and turn around towards the mountains - you'll feel like you're in an episode of LOST with the mountain towering over the coconut trees just behind you.
Be aware that this house doesn't have air conditioning - just a ceiling fan in the main living area and large stand fans for the bedrooms. I was miserably hot in the house and didn't feel much like cooking even though that was our plan. My family didn't feel it as much, but I discovered I am pretty heat+humidity intolerant. At night, we had to sleep with the windows all open and the ocean crashing against the rocks just under the bedroom windows is LOUD. We had to get some earplugs. When I shut the windows to leave on the last day, the sound was much more pleasant. A wall A/C unit in the bedroom would make a HUGE difference. As funny as it sounds, we went to bed every night saying, "Shut Up, Ocean!". The waves don't lap up to the rocks, they crash against them.
Aside from that, it was a great place - loved the privacy and amenities. The bathroom set up is great for families - the double sinks are outside the shower/toilet area. The house feels very spacious. It's always nice to have room to spread out on a family vacation and this is truly the most beautiful part of Oahu.
We spent 7 nights at the ocean front "Ka Lae Hale" house. It was centrally located to every tourist sight that we wanted to visit. We arrived a few hours early and met Arish who worked very hard getting the place just right for us. From the house, the Polynesian Cultural Center is about 11m north. Kualoa Ranch is 1m south (and it was well worth visiting (Jurassic Park & movies tour, 6x6 tour, and the boat rides to secret island and towards "China Man's Hat" to watch the giant turtles).
Safeway grocery store and a mall are about 11 miles south. Movie theater and fast food are about 8 miles south. Hanauma Bay is 28.5m south, 21m west to the USS Arizona Memorial. 21m north to Waimea Bay beach and park. We spent 2-3 days at the house, used the kayaks, the lagoon, relaxed and enjoyed the privacy. We ordered steaks and hamburger meat from Kualoa Ranch before we arrived in Oahu and it was convenient to pick up our order after we toured the ranch. Arish provided a new bbq including charcoal & lighter fluid. Everything you need is provided at the house except the food. We sat out on the decks in-between adventures. If you want to build a perfect family vacation in Oahu, start here. Mahalo Arish!
Love this place! This is the second time renting this home. This time we brought our children and grandchildren. The sandy private lagoon was perfect for the grandkids, and our grown children enjoyed the kayaks and snorkeling. We grilled steaks from Kualoa Ranch which were delicious and did the Macadamia nut farm tour which I think is the best bang for your buck. And being from the mainland, we enjoyed watching the sunrise from the decks.
We spent 5 terrific days at this beach house, and didn't want to leave. It feels perfectly like home, and as an added bonus you can't beat the ocean right down below you, and the private lagoon for swimming, bathing and snorkeling. The views are out of this world, and we found ourselves just sitting and looking for turtles and marine life. The kayaks are a welcome addition, as are the many decks and outside shower. We took hikes on nearby trails, and took easy day trips to visit different beaches and sample the island's many food trucks. The property manager and cleaning crew were terrific, we were allowed to check in early and appreciated having our travel schedule accommodated. We'd definitely come back!
I have stayed at this property for 3 years in a row because it is the only Hawaii residence where I have felt at home. The view is fantastic and the house is very stylish. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to stay on the beach and not deal with the Waikiki crowds.
I can't imagine a better location. Waves right at the botton of the deck and crashing waves out the window all night long. The kayaks are a lot of fun. We saw surfers, kayakers, snorklers, turtles, fish and wonderful, wonderful sun rises. I had a little bit of a problem realizing that I was seeing the sun rise instead of set, because I was raised near the Oregon Coast and the ocean was always on the west. It was the perfect place for two couples.
