Don and Janice Shreve live in Easton, MD. Don is a licensed contractor, and Janice works from home for a music clearance company. Our son, Dylan loves the Tilghman house, and we enjoy staying there at times to fish, crab and enjoy the beautiful views.
Janice Shreve purchased this house in 1993
The property has been in the family for several generations. Previously, there was a modular home on the property, and as a child, Don's family spent their summers at that home when he was growing up. Don's parents had the current home built when they retired in 1993. Don and Janice recently bought out his sister's share of the home because we want to keep the home in the Shreve family and one day retire there ourselves, and eventually pass it on to our son, Dylan.
There are kayaks and crab traps for rent on site, and the home has a horseshoe pit, dart board and ping pong table for family fun.
And exploring the surrounding area. Such a lovely house and so well equipped! We saw many gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and enjoyed looking out for wildlife. Plus our frequent visitor, Clyde, whose waggy tail and enthusiasm made us all smile.
My husband and I spent the week here and loved every bit of it. From my first inquiry to my return back home, Janice was a pleasure to deal with. We can honestly say that this was our best Eastern Shore vacation - and we've been going there for 6 years. We will definitely return.
What a great house! We very much enjoyed our time here. The views are absolutely outstanding. We used the kayaks while we were there, roasted marshmallows in the firepit, and played horseshoes. We also fell in love with Tilghman, as we were newcomers to the Island. We had crabs at Harrisons down the street one night, and drove 5 minutes to the cute country store down the street each morning for egg sandwiches, it was a great escape and felt like I was much farther away from the City (only 70 miles!) than I actually was. We will definitely return soon!
The view is absolutely breathtaking, the pictures don't do it justice. The home is very clean, comfortable and cozy with everything you need in the kitchen. Plenty of board games, ping pong, horse shoes and not mention I was on my float in the water everyday or just fishing of the dock. Caught so much fish everyday( croaker and blue fish). We enjoyed having grilled lunch & dinner on the deck and sitting by the fire pit every night. I would love to come back in October and bundle up by the fire pit and enjoy the view in the fall and fish. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the comfort of your home and tranquil views and surroundings.
Our family just spent a glorious week in this beautiful home. If we did nothing but sit and enjoy the view it would have been worth it. As it was, we were able to enjoy swimming, kayaking, fishing, horseshoes, ping pong, board games and special bbqs on the back deck overlooking the water. Even the dog was in heaven. This location is perfect for any getaway. We hope we can come back soon. Don't hesitate!
We had a wonderful week this spring at this house. The setting was beautiful and the house was lovely. We hope to be able to stay there again next year!
Even in the bleak midwinter, this was a lovely place to stay. The sliding glass doors offered beautiful views across the water from the dining room table, living room and master bedroom. We saw all kinds of birds, including a pair of swans off the dock. It was quiet. The stars were glorious at night. Walking our dog was a joy, especially since the house is about a 1/2 mile off the main road. We brought in our groceries since we knew many restaurants were closed for the season and we weren't sure if there would be all the fresh fruits and vegetables we like on hand. We took a 4 mile walk at the Audubon Preserve at Pickering Creek. We spent a day exploring the beaches and the preserve near Milton, DE. We enjoyed exploring the town of Easton where more was open than in St Michaels. It was all good, thanks to our hosts.
