Our group had a wonderful time in Tahoe. We will probably try to make this a yearly visit. However, we won't be staying in this house again.
First of all the house is very dated. Given the condition of the house I feel it's overpriced. The refrigerator is very small for the amount of people the house can hold. The house will not stocked well with toilet paper, paper towel, or dish cleaner. The dishes and cookware were pretty gross. Teflon was peeling off several pans and everything was pretty unorganized. The entire dish-ware needs to be completely replaced.
We also discovered the propane tank for the BBQ was completely missing. The homeaway phone number was completely useless. I was able to make contact with a local manager. They were able to deliver the propane tank the next day.
The layout of this house is pretty weird too. Due to open ceilings and open walls on the 2nd floor there is no privacy between rooms. If your group is a close family this won't be a problem but it can be a little awkward if they are just friends.
Another issue some of our guests complained about is the neighbors. There was some serious drunken domestic yelling going on all night. Everyone upstairs could hear hear the cussing and yelling. We also discovered a box of empty beer cans in our front yard the next morning. Obviously this isn't something the property managers can prevent but keep this in mind when renting the place.
Given all the problems with this property we still had a great time in Tahoe. The keys are truly amazing and so is Lake Tahoe in the summer.
Most of the reviews talk about how great of time they had at the house but they fail to mention the things that really count when reviewing accommodations.
We had friends flying in from Iowa and decided to treat them to a week at Lake Tahoe. What a wonderful home. It's right on the water with it's own dock, so we just launched the boat one time and left it in the water all week. We spent every morning on the back deck drinking coffee and enjoying the view. It was a perfect house for entertaining as friends came in and out to visit. We have 6 kids and it was a great experience for them, too. The game room, the loft and the room full of single beds were perfect for them. We took the boat out to Emerald Bay, Riva Grill and The Beacon. The Tahoe Keyes is a great location to enjoy the lake. We had questions about the hot tub and called the management company. Robby answered the phone right away and answered our questions immediately. We would definitely recommend this house to friends and family and will hopefully be returning ourselves.
My oldest daughter is getting married in August. Her siblings and the groom's siblings are the bridesmaids & groomsmen. We used this amazing house for a weekend of getting the two families together to get to know each other as we will soon be "one family". Started our mornings off doing yoga on the humungous deck that stretches out over the water. Very clean and well maintained property. The bedrooms are large, PLENTY of space for everyone--lots of single beds, too. Loved that the dining room table was so large--had only 8 chairs, but others could be added. The sofa in the family room wrapped around 2 walls. So if you have a large group of people, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!
The property was as described and more. I was concerned whether or not it really could accomodate 14 family members but it did and we were all comfortable. The location is fantastic, amenitites were perfect and I would highly recommend this property. Several family members asked if this place could be our annual family vacation spot. One family member is considering their wedding near this location next year. We came from all over the West and met at this property. It had everything we needed. We fed all 14 people out of the kitchen - 3 meals a day. It's amazing what it could accomodate. We had a blast.
Came here with a group of friends from all around the state. Couldn't have asked for more. The cabin was spacious and comfortable, the location was convenient, and the deck was unbelievable! The place is a bit on the older side, and sometimes that shows, but that hardly mattered. Would go back, and recommend 100 times over!
What a disappointment- The house was cold, outdated, and absolutely filthy! The carpet is falling apart and stained, all of the blinds have at least a half inch of dust, the windows are greasy, the furniture was miss-matched and out-dated, the blankets have not been washed, the sofa is stained and stinky, all of the decor is dirty and outdated, the vertical blinds are missing slats, the outdoor chairs are broken, the bathtubs were black with foot prints in them, the Foosball table is broken, the beds are sagging and the small kitchen was a mess of miss-matched dirty dishes. It was like camping inside (in February in Tahoe). On the first morning we discovered that both of the showers (which both have black mold in them) were not working properly (one would not drain and the other broke when you tried to divert the water from the bath to shower). The dishes in the kitchen were dirty and there were not enough to accommodate the number of people the house advertises it can accommodate. The pans were un-useable (they were dirty and peeling Teflon). We called the property manager who sent a maintenance man to come fix the showers and who promised us he would send a cleaning crew (that never came). The maintenance man was very nice, fixed the showers all the while apologizing for the condition of the house and went to Kmart and bought some new pans and more dishes for us. We stayed but spent most of our time out of the house due to its poor condition. I would not recommend this property to anybody and hope that the owners take note. It would not cost that much to update and clean this property- move the furniture and dust, wash the windows, clean and re-caulk the tubs, wash the bedding, wash the throw rugs in bathrooms, update the paint, provide more towels, provide an efficient heater in the garage bedroom, replace the carpet, paint the old furniture, and hire a decent housekeeper. My family owns a vacation rental on Shasta Lake and we would have never rented our house in this condition- our goal is to attract repeat business and provide a nice home to relax in on your vacation. This house was far from relaxing. We had to clean the tubs ourselves, wash the dirty bedding, hang a sheet up over the broken blinds, and call for maintenance. Even if you want to just fill up your rental calendar at least provide a clean rental.
