Overview

Bear Valley Cabin Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, Large Loft, 2.5+ Bath Cabin. NEW! satellite Internet!

This big beautiful mountain cabin is located in Sky High Ranch at 7k elevation. Although the road is plowed to the bottom of the driveway with parking nearby, we recommend having a 4 WD (or snow tires with chains) for a winter stay. We are located a short 10 minute drive from Bear Valley Ski Area where you can ski or snowboard and where they have Wi-Fi for your convenience. The Bear Valley Village is even closer with restaurants, bar, grocery store, ski and snowboard rentals, and two stores for clothing and equipment.

Situated across from an expansive green meadow (white in the winter), pond (frozen in the winter) and surrounded by evergreen trees, it is easy to imagine how easy it is to relax on our spacious new deck or from inside on our couch for ten in front of a blazing fire (just for fun as we have central gas heat). In the winter, fun is immediately available just by walking out the door. We provide 4 pairs of snowshoes for you to use, and of course, we have sleds available as well.

The large 3-floor A-frame cabin is a 3 bedroom with a loft and 2 & ½ bathroom setup that will easily accommodate two families.

We enter on the lower level through our “mud room” where we keep all of our ski and snowboard equipment. We leave our wet/snowy footwear here and keep the house dry and our feet warm by walking about in our stocking feet.

On this lower floor, there are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a bunk bed combination of a full below and twin on the upper, and a full bathroom with shower.

The second (main) floor encompasses the great room with a fireplace (we provide the wood) and sliding glass doors that bring you to the deck. The kitchen is also located on this level and set up for the serious chef with a brand new 5-burner stove and range, and even an espresso maker. There is a full bathroom on this main level has a shower (with Cosmo Kramer showerhead) and bath, and a full size washer and dryer for your convenience.

The third (upper) floor has a private back bedroom with a queen bed and an extra twin and a similarly equipped loft with a dazzling view of the hi-sierra through our large A-frame windows. There is a half bath between the 2 rooms.

I have supplied the cabin with all the basics you need in the kitchen, like: paper towels, olive oil, vegetable oil, spices, sugar, plastic wrap, zip lock bags, napkins, laundry soap, soft soap, sponges, and auto dish soap. All bathrooms have shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper and bath towels.

Our family of six has made some our best memories at our mountain cabin, sledding, snowshoeing, and walking in the meadow with just the full moon to light our way. It is our “unplugged” time when we fully interact by playing one of the many board games or putting together a puzzle. It is my favorite place in the world to be with my family. Come make your own special family memories!

Please, NO SMOKING!

Why Shari Lyons chose Bear Valley

To be quite honest, we purchased this cabin for our personal enjoyment, not as a rental property. But now that we have another child headed off to college, we are willing to share our mountain house. We live in the small town of Sonora California in the foothills. As a family that loves and appreciates the great outdoors, Sky High Ranch offered everything we were looking for in a second family home. Bear Valley is only an hour away from our Sonora home, but the difference in environment is an idyllic and welcome change to our hectic daily lives. The beautiful surroundings are wonderfully conducive to relaxing and reconnecting with family and friends whether cooking together in the kitchen or laughing while playing games with the kids. Our family members love to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, hike, mountain bike, canoe and golf, all activities that are just minutes away.

What makes this cabin unique

*Free Satellite Internet

*6 pairs of snowshoes for your enjoyment

*Canoe for your use.

*Newer Weber propane outdoor grill.

*Spacious deck surrounded by evergreens and overlooking the pond.

*Well-stocked kitchen.

*Board Games galore.

*A myriad of outdoor activities right out the door.

*We love our cabin, it is not just a 'rental'.

Start of an annual family event

We thought we would go to the snow for a weekend with our children and grandchildren; we had such a fabulous time at this cabin that everyone wants to repeat each year. We had grandpa aged 77, who took downhill ski lessons at Bear Valley, and on down to the littlest aged 6 and two teenagers. There was plenty of everything we needed, Bright, sunny, and friendly. Best of all, the property is SO CLEAN and the owners so responsive that we think of them now as friends. Such a joy for us all. Thanks to Shari for quick responses. The easiest place to come, the happiest place to relax. Fine value for such comforts. We'll be back in the snow, and we look forward to a summer treat, too.

Looking Forward to Returning...

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at this wonderful cabin. It is conveniently located between Heart of Bear Valley and Bigs Trees Park. The cabin had everything we needed from silverware, pots/pans, to puzzles and games. We thoroughly enjoyed a campfire each evening with 2 other friends and their spouses. Our stay was a week long but felt like a blink of an eye. If your considering booking, you may want to try to book longer than a week - we were sad to leave.

Loved It

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week at this house and highly recommend it. The place is in a great location: easy access to Bear Valley Village and the high Sierra. We spent our outdoor time kayaking and swimming at Alpine Lake, mountain biking, and taking walks around the meadow and pond near the house. The surprise was how much we enjoyed just hanging out around the house too. We had a great time playing with all the games the owners provide, the kids found some that they had never played before and loved. The house itself is very comfortable, clean, and in good shape. The living room is a great hang-out space, and we appreciated the well-stocked kitchen (never stayed in place that had so much available for our use, even a crock pot!). We had a "princess and the pea" with us and there were no complaints about the beds, which is quite an endorsement. The shower on the main floor really is a pleasure! The owners are great to work with.

Sensational Vacation in Bear Valley

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this lovely home several times, coming all the way from New York, and have enjoyed every minute. Furnishings are comfortable, the house is nicely decorated, the kitchen was well stocked, and the house was very clean The Village of Bear Valley was very close and easy to get to for our ski days. When we weren't skiing, we enjoyed the availability of sleds and snowshoes provided by the generous owners. Views from the deck are beautiful, and the fireplace made every evening perfect while it snowed outside. The owners are wonderful people and a pleasure to work with. We have visited in both winter and summer, and it's hard to decide which is better. Looking forward to coming back this year!

Great cabin, nice location!

We had a great time here last weekend. The cabin is clean and well equipped. Wonderful for kids and adults. The owner is very very nice. The only negative for us was the no WiFi. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here .
