ABOUT CAYMAN BRAC:
From brilliant reefs in pristine waters to exotic birds nesting on jagged cliffs, Cayman Brac is home to a wealth of stunning natural wonders. The island’s unique geological features and abundant animal life make it an ideal destination for a variety of outdoor activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, rock climbing, hiking, bicycling, caving, and bird-watching.
DIVING Cayman Brac offers some of the most remarkable diving in the Caribbean. With over 50 major sites, divers at all levels are spoiled for choice. The reefs offer radiant coral, sea fans, and sponges in bright shades of red, orange, yellow, green, and purple. At varying sites, divers often encounter turtles, rays, sharptail eels, angelfish, puffer fish, parrot fish and countless other aquatic species. Divers can also explore the upper decks of a 330-foot freighter that was deliberately sunk and made safe for diving. The ship’s features include a missile launcher, deck cannons, living quarters and more.
HIKING With diverse terrain, unique flora and fauna, and gorgeous views, Cayman Brac’s hiking trails are ideal for an adventurous traveler. All of the trails are easily accessible, with signage visible from the roadside. The two-mile nature trail through Saltwater Pond Reserve covers 38 species of trees and a variety of birds including the near-threatened Brac parrot and vitelline warbler. Or for a challenge, hikers can follow rocky trails up the bluff to reach stunning views.
CLIMBING Cayman Brac boasts some of the world’s most exotic climbing. The island derives its name from the beautiful bluff on the eastern end of the island (Brac means bluff in Gaelic). The limestone cliffs reach up to 43 meters (140 feet), offering unparalleled views. There are over 70 bolted routs on the island, from beginner to advanced, and the number continues to grow.
CAVING The abundant caves on Cayman Brac are home to amazing formations and unique flora and fauna. A number of the caves have historical significance, as they have been used as shelter during the rare severe hurricanes that have come to the island. Popular caves include Peter’s Cave, which offers a spectacular view of the south side of the island and the ocean beyond; the Bat’s Cave, which houses a number of bats as well as owls; and the Great Cave, which offers beautiful formations and large open rooms.
BIRDS A number of striking exotic birds have been observed on Cayman Brac, including the white-tailed tropic bird, the Brac parrot, tricolored herons, the magnificent frigate bird, and spoonbills. Some have formed permanent colonies; others stop by for breeding or on their way to warmer climates. Brown booby colonies can be observed on the lighthouse footpath all year round, but springtime is best for sightings of their fluffy white chicks.
Note to renters: to get the most out of your holiday you will want a rental car in the Brac.

We live part time on the island in our home on the Bluff and in northern california.
The Owner purchased this house in 2011
Pristine waters, nice community very peaceful.
Very private, great location. Love the views.
Stayed here for 5 weeks January-February 2015. Before going home I booked it for ten weeks Jan-Mar 2016, so yes, I had a great time.
Wonderful house, beautiful beautiful Island. If you want "civillization", gourmet food. entertainment, try Grand Cayman. Brac is small, quiet and happy. By that I mean people there are extremely friendly, seemingly unaware of "race" and there is no poverty.
The house has all the basic comforts. lots of windows, fully screened, so open them up and let the outside in. Good kitchen and bathroom, soaring cathedral ceiling. HDTV. lots of DVDs, good wifi. If you want more entertainment, bring a pc with content and a chromecast. Netlix and Youtube work fine.
But Brac is mainly about sea and sky and outdoor pleasures. Diving, snorkelling both excellent. The Supermarkets (4) are adequate and there are a few good eateries, especially Star Island, which provide takeout good enough to live off. Glen and Jane, the owners, are as attentive as you need thm to be.
I could go on but it's obvious how I feel about Brac and Hammock moon. Just don't tell everyone, I want The Brac to stay the way it is.

The House was lovely and clean, the owner called twice to make sure all was good, the weather was great! We enjoyed ourselves and totally relaxed my husband did not want to
go home. We shall return! Thanks again;-)
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hammock Moon. Jane (the owner) was an excellent host, who greeted us upon arrival and checked in with us throughout our stay. She and her husband live on the island and were able to answer any questions we had prior to and during our stay. As the pictures show, the home is tastefully decorated and has a beautiful waterfront view from inside the home and on the rooftop deck. The home is conveniently located and everything is within a short drive. The shoreline is rocky in front of the house but a white sand public beach (we were the only people on the beach when we visited) is nearby. Even with the beach nearby, we found that Hammock Moon's rooftop deck was the absolute best place to relax and suntan on the island!
In addition to the fantastic accommodations at Hammock Moon, the island is the perfect place to "get away from it all." The lifestyle on the island is very laid back, the locals are friendly, and we never felt unsafe or hassled. It was great to dine and shop at the same places the locals frequent instead of the typical "tourist areas" on other islands. Since the island is not overdeveloped or filled with hotels and attractions, it is an untouched beauty. There are many things to see for divers, rock climbers, cave/nature enthusiast, etc.
This is an island you will not want to miss if you enjoy scuba diving. There are numerous dive sites along the island marked with a red stone and a mooring buoy. Most all of the sites are accessible from the shore but there are several others that are easier by boat. Make sure the check out Brac Scuba Shack, they can point you in the right direction for all your diving needs! (The home has a rinse tub and outdoor hanger for scuba gear)
Our stay at Hammock Moon and on The Brac exceeded our expectations and we hope to return soon!
A Few Other Favorites:
Scuba - Brac Scuba Shack (must try a southside boat dive)
Car Rental - CB Rent A Car
Restaurant - Star Island (cayman style fish)
Bakery - Pioneer Bakery (bullas)
Grocery - The Marketplace (we found to be the best prices/selection)
If you like magnificent ocean views, privacy, and stylish decor...a stay at Harvest Moon is suggested. We had a wonderful visit in May, 2014. Fresh red snapper on the grill was heavenly. Perfect place for a couple for a romantic getaway or for a family holiday. Thanks Jane for all of your invaluable guidance.
We had a fantastic stay at Hammock Moon on Cayman Brac and can thoroughly recommend the island/property. The property is right on the water, with a great balcony to watch the awesome sunsets. There is a 2 person sea-kayak and snorkel equipment to borrow, a great DVD library, fabulous kitchen, and wonderful furnishings throughout. Jane and Glenn were great hosts and helped us find swim/snorkel sites, swim cut-outs, and, most importantly, The Rum Shop! Treat yourself to a few quite days on the Brac ... the 17-seater island hopper plane is an 'experience' in itself! (and quite inexpensive).
This was our first time to "The Brac" and we couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to stay. Hammock Moon was everything we needed and more. Location was perfect, the house has everything you need, from the hammocks for afternoon naps to the roof top patio for nightly star gazing!
Jane and Glen were awesome, they are very knowledge about the island and were also available when needed.
We had a great month, at Hammock Moon with lots of "stories" to take home!
