Looking for a place to really get away from it all? The Red Chalet in beautiful Grand Marais is the place you are looking for.
Located on Lake Superior, Grand Marais is surrounded by nature in abundance. Set on a large, wooded lot in the village, the Red Chalet will surround you with comfort. The great room includes a full kitchen, dining area, and a well-furnished living area. Plenty of room for everyone to put their feet up and relax. Enjoy a good night's rest in any of the three bedrooms that have been recently updated, including bedding. The utility room has plenty of space for all your gear, no matter what your activity. The pull through driveway provides easy manuevering for large snowmobile trailers as well as multiple vehicles. The cabin is pet friendly and provides a dog run.
It is just a short walk to the Lake Superior sand beach or the main street of Grand Marais. While staying at the cottage you might want to visit the Pictured Rocks, bike, search for agates, swim, sunbathe, hike the many trails, go bird watching, cross-country ski, snowmobile, snowshoe, visit the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, or take some outstanding photographs. Sunsets on Lake Superior are unparalleled.
The Red Chalet is available year round, easily accessible during the winter months, and the snowmobile trails start just a few blocks from the front door. These groomed trails connect you to a network of over 2500 miles of trails throughout the Upper Peninsula. Snowmobile rental is available in town.
We loved this cabin it was very convenient to town and to the trail system. The cabin is very clean and comfortable with everything you need even a crock pot which I forgot to bring with me. The mudroom is an added bonus, nice place to hang your gear and kick off your boots after a long day of riding. We were hoping to rent it again but alas it is all booked up this winter.....maybe they have too many good reviews :)
The Red Chalet was a wonderful cabin to rent. It accommodated all of us. One of the options that Girls like was all the storage - hooks, cubbies, were great for all of us getting ready. Comfortable Beds, furniture and a good supply of cooking equipment. The transaction with the owner was prompt and smooth. It was 1 mile from town, which was a nice walk. The towns people I found were very friendly.
Never rented a cabin before..exceeded our expectations..comfortable furnishings..everything we needed..loved having washer and dryer available..plenty of room for our family of 5 and our dog...conveniently close to gorgeous beach and town...great way to spend a week...4th of July was a lot of fun too..thanks for sharing this nice home with us...God bless you guys!
This was the second year in a row that we stayed in the Red Chalet. We had a wonderful time in Grand Marais and our lodging was just like home! Thanks Mike and Chris!
A very well equipped property with plenty of storage space and amenities. The garage and mud room gave us ample space to get out of our field clothes without making a mess. Also, there are many coat hooks and shelves that made organization effortless. The kitchen had everything necessary to prepare almost any meal. I have been coming to the area for the past 10 years and this is the best cabin I have ever rented. I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Grand Marais, it is close to town, has plenty of space, well built and warm for those blustery days, and exudes the proper charm.
The Red Chalet exceeded our expectatons. The cottage was just like home. It had so much space to hold all of us and we found the neatest things, ie, board games, books of the town history, books about the U.P., a "junk drawer" full of those needed little things, and this great journal to fill out upon our leaving. The front porch is where we spent most of the time together. All the linens were provided, the pillows fluffy, and the blankets kept us warm. Plenty of fans on the warm nights. We would bike to town or walk to the beach. We ate at the West Bay Diner, Sporties and the Dunes Saloon. We shopped everyday in town (because we could) and took in all of the sights. And best of all, Chris and Mike are lovely people-thank you for making our stay a time to cherish.
By all means, make this a home away from home for a week or more!
