The Big Kahuna Five Bedroom Four Bath 3650 sq ft (339 sq. meters). Sleeps ten in beds and up to 14 using aero (inflatable) beds. This two story home combines our 2300 sq. ft. Oceanview Three Bedroom Two Bath upstairs with our 1350 sq. ft Aloha Two Bedroom Two Bath downstairs.  They connect by an internal staircase and each also has a separate entrance.  Air conditioning and ceiling fans in all five bedrooms. Two master suites, one upstairs and one downstairs. The living rooms, dining rooms and kitchens all have numerous ceiling fans.  Eight foot sliding glass doors in two directions provide excellent cross ventilation. Oak hardwood flooring in entry, living room, dining room and kitchen. Berber carpeting in bedrooms. Tile floors in baths. Granite counters in both kitchens and all baths. Upstairs the master bedroom has a queen canopy bed with pillow top mattress and Egyptian cotton linens plus a private covered  lanai with seating for two. The master bath has a deep soak tub with two shower heads and double sinks. The second bedroom has a queen sleigh bed with a pillow top mattress and Egyptian cotton linens.  The second bath has a deep soak tub and shower plus double sinks. The third bedroom has twin beds. Downstairs the master bedroom has a queen bed and a slider to the outside covered lanai. The master bath has a large Jacuzzi tub and double sinks. Two large full kitchens with double door refrigerators with ice makers and water in the door. Ceramic top stoves with ovens. Full sets of pots and pans, dishes, glasses and stemware. Upstairs dining table seats eight and downstairs seats six with four bar stools. Two covered lanais each has outdoor dining tables for six and gas barbecues. Fifty inch HDTVs in upstairs and downstairs living rooms and HDTVs in all five bedrooms. Beach towels, beach chairs and coolers provided. Snorkel gear, boogie boards, underwater camera snorkel masks and beach umbrellas may be rented in advance and waiting for you upon arrival.

We also offer off street parking, high speed wi-fi property wide, the use of a computer and printer 24/7 in our office, an on site concierge service that saves money on activities, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers, plus the use of laundry rooms with detergent and dryer sheets. All are complimentary.

About Herb

Gale owned a glass bottom boat when she first came to Kauai. As the business grew, activity desks were leased to ensure a steady flow of customers for the boat. When Gale had the second happiest day of her business life (she sold the boat), the desks remained and Gale was then in the activity desk business as Kauai Vacation Helpers. She often jokes that one of the 'worst' parts of her job is having to test out all the activities to make sure they're o.k. for our guests.

Herb's been in the residential real estate business since he first got his license in Huntington Beach, California in 1977. Sixteen years ago, Herb was recruited by a friend to work as Director of Marketing for a resort on Kauai, and has been here every since. Since leaving the resort nine years ago, Herb has been actively involved in Hideaway Cove doing marketing, designing the Hideaway Cove and Kauai Vacation Helpers websites, blogging and writing our newsletter 'FYI Kauai'.

Why Herb chose Poipu

We have both travelled extensively and talked about owning vacation rentals that had everything in them that we wished for in the places we've stayed. Most important to us was a very good bed with high quality linens and towels plus quality furnishings. We both enjoy cooking and wanted our kitchens to have granite counters for easy cleaning and ceramic top stoves for the same reason. Jacuzzi or deep soak tubs and walk in showers and granite counters turn what could be a ordinary baths into something extraordinary.

When Herb first moved to Kauai he rented what is now our Aloha Two Bedroom, Two Bath and became fast friends with the owners, Dick and Donna Page. And when they decided to sell the building next door, Herb was the first person they asked. Initially the building had long term rental tenents and we converted it into vacation rentals nine years ago.

What makes this house unique

Due to the high cost of electricity, very few of the vacation rentals on Kauai are air conditioned. We decided to add air conditioning to stand out from the crowd. For the same reason, we added an office and large guest laundry room on property, in space which had originally been planned as a studio accommodation. We even have the deep soak tub, four poster bed and name plate to go outside the door to prove it. Having an office allows us to give our guests a very high level of service. We are also very attentive to even the smallest details,personally inspecting our units frequently for cleanliness and wear and tear. We are constantly upgrading everything on property including barbecues, furniture, beds (two new king beds added recently)and kitchen appliances and 'tools'. We work very hard to provide a high quality guest experience which we beleive is the key to our success and the reason our guests come back year after year.
