Dear Ted and Robin,
My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying at LCR for a week, usually more, every August for the last 5 yrs. Every year as we drive in it's a race as to which of us is the first to say "Wow, this is prettier than I remember". This beautifully landscaped, serene, lakeside resort also has 2 very clean, large swimming pools - one for families and one for adults if one prefers quiet. The cabins are always super clean and tidy -- and come with a fully equipped kitchen. The area also has several great choices of restaurants and pubs very nearby. And, of course, it's only minutes from Lake Michigan and all that offers. Last but not least is the super friendly and helpful staff -- led by Ted and Robin -- always ready to help with any particular need you may have, or helpful suggestions regarding all of the local food and fun to be enjoyed. Us? We've done all that and loved every experience, but this year we hit all the farm stands (,,,cannot beat Mi sweet corn!) -- BBQ'd a lot and just enjoyed the peace and quiet of this beautiful resort.
Thanks and see you next year!
Ken and Jacinta
Dirty, no blankets, filthy sofa could not even sit on it. Air mattress had a leak and did not keep air in it. Awful experience. Not worth the money
My wife and I just spent 4 nights at the Lakeside Cabins Resort. It is a gated community that is open during the day, and gated off at night. It is located about 1.5 hours from Chicago, though my wife and I kept remarking that we felt like we were in the Adirondacks or Seattle. The setting was perfect. We loved the grounds, the lake was great, and the cabin had a back deck that was right on the lake. The fishing was great! I caught a lot of sunfish/blue gill/crappie, but I saw a lot bigger fish in the lake - possibly muskie/walleye? The lake was beautiful, but the LED light/sprinkler was very tacky. We felt that the lake would be much more scenic and beautiful without the LED light/fountain in the center.
My wife and I pretty much had the resort to ourselves, as we were there in mid-September, during the week. It was great. We enjoyed the community bonfire pit behind the community center for a couple of nights. It would have been a bonus if we were able to have a fire at our cabin, but this was just fine. We also used the community center to play ping pong, foosball, Pac-Man, and some pinball games.
The grounds were amazingly clean and well-kept. But the cabin we stayed in was a bit of a problem. The carpeting was stained and dirty, the pillows were stained and gross (the management did bring us a couple of new pillows, but we ended up using the ones we brought with us), the blinds were broken/bent, the outside cushions on the chairs/benches were covered in mold and unusable, several lights were broken and/or missing a bulb altogether, and the main TV/stereo did not work. I guess it was a good thing that we didn't have cable, but I wanted to watch the football game (the one time I watched TV the entire trip), and I had to do it with my own mobile data - set up a hotspot onto my computer. Not a huge deal, but the management sent out the cable guy, which we had to deal with - and was one of the things we came to the woods/cabin to escape. The management was nice about the situation and ended up refunding a night's stay. So that was much appreciated.
We enjoyed going to Union Pier/New Buffalo - only about 5-10 min away, and visited several wineries/breweries/distilleries (Round Barn and St. Julian) while in town. We really recommend you visit Jenn and St. Julian - she was great! We will definitely be back, hopefully sooner than later.
This was our first stay at Lakeside Cabin Resort...and one word sums it up "awesome"! We live in Plainfield, IL so LCR is only 75 miles from us...and what a diamond we found. The cabin we rented was located right on Wilkinson Lake. The cabin was clean and cozy for the five of us. The facilities can't be beat! We had three teenagers with us and they loved it too. Enjoyed the paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing. We looked at several cabins that are for sale and would love to own one here. Very close to New Buffalo Beach and the marina. Dinner at Redamac's was delicious and visited Oinks for their homemade ice cream. The onsite managers were very friendly and provided great service. If you want a place that is friendly, clean and offer great ammenities Lakeside Cabin Resort is the place!
We decided on a whim to take a weekend trip to Harbor Country and found that Lakeside Cabin Resorts was a pet friendly property, which allowed us to pack up our furry child and not worry about a dog sitter. Ted was great while making the reservation and checking in and offered us some great resources on the area. The cabin was well cleaned and ready for a nice relaxing weekend getaway for my husband and I! We spent the first day exploring the area and walked around the property. The second day was spent at the pool that was sparkling clean and not too crowded with kids. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning soon!
This was our 3rd stay at Lakeside Cabins. This place is perfect for a weekend getaway and is just a short drive from Chicago. The cabins have everything you need when you arrive. The cabins are clean and perfect for a family with kids.
The cabins are very close to Lake Michigan, the Michigan Wine Trail and several great restaurants. Our favorite restaurants are Red Arrow Roadhouse, Skips and Soe Cafe.
Ted and his staff go out of their way to make sure that your stay here is perfect.
The cabin, location, driving and convenience is great. Very basic facility, but comfortable and clean, we took our two dogs and had a very relaxing weekend. We visited some wineries and had the opportunity to cook every time in the cabin, which for us was great. We strongly recommend this place to relax and unwind in the fall/winter and we will be back for sure.
We are not giving the full 5 starts not because of the accommodations or the cleanliness / convenience of the cabin, but because there were bees or wasps wondering around inside the cabin. Judging for the assortment of insecticides already in the cabin, it seems this has been a recurring problem, so as a recommendation to the owner / administration, please check for this issue as we do not know if it is something unique to the cabin where we stayed or the whole complex.
