Overview

Ouray House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-11)

This mountain home is located on a corner lot in a private neighborhood 2 miles north of Ouray. There is a secluded patio with outdoor fire pit, shaded by Pine tress. The patio takes up much of the small back yard, but there is plenty of room in the front for kids to play! Over-sized attached 2 car garage. The original owners of this house built a small log cabin style house. A few years later they enlarged it by adding a large living room with an loft bedroom above it and a large 2 car garage with laundry and entryway. When we purchased this house in 2006, we renovated it from top to bottom, replacing the lovely 80's carpeting with wood flooring, a new kitchen and bath downstairs and a new enlarged bath upstairs, with a skylight in the large shower, allowing for a great view of the surrounding pines while showering.

When renovating, we turned the open loft bedroom over the living room into a semi-closed off bedroom by building a full height wall with double closets. There is still open space between the living room and the master bedroom, so there may be some noise that carries over. Living there, my husband and I had no problems, but if you have a large group, your experience may be different.

There is one bedroom downstairs with a full bath. Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms, one with 2 queen beds, one with a king bed, and a large bathroom with double sinks and view shower. The living room has pullout sofa bed.

Quiet, yet close to town. Hiking trails within walking distance. An abundance of wildlife is visible regularly, birds, small animals, deer, elk, even bears!!

Keywords: mountain home, quiet, shaded, upgraded, cathedral ceilings, 2 fireplaces, close to town,

About Vicki Rooker

We are retired paramedics from San Francisco, resettled in the mountains to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of city living. We had visited Ouray several times prior to our move and although the lifestyle change was 180 degrees, we have really enjoyed the quiet and slower pace of our mountains.

Vicki Rooker purchased this house in 2006

What makes this house unique

Master bedroom skylights allow views of the moon & stars as we fell asleep to the quiet with only water sounds from Corbett Creek to lull us to sleep or the occasional soft 'whump' of snow cascading off of the pine boughs in winter.

Definitely coming back

  • 5 of 5

Every single part of our stay exceeded expectations. The house was wonderful and so was the location. Easy access to Ridgway. The winter couldn't have been more beautiful, really looking forward to a summer stay in the future and this house is definitely going to be our first choice! Thank you!

Cozy fireplace

  • 4 of 5

We came to ice climb in the area and found this to be a great place to stay. Having a garage to keep the car frost free and to sort gear was a plus. There was plenty of privacy both in the location of the house and in the house itself. We only used one of the two fireplaces, but it really made the place warm and cozy. And there was plenty of firewood. Vicki, the owner was very responsive and professional, which for me is always a good sign.

It was more like staying in someone's home than a rental.

The best house I have rented in Ouray

  • 5 of 5

I have been coming to Ouray for 10 years and I have stayed at all sorts of homes and hotels. Some were good, some were not. I don't think I have to look for rentals anywhere else from now on, I have found the perfect place. From the very beginning, the owner Vicki always responded immediately to our inquiries which is always a good sign. She promptly provided us with all the info necessary for our stay. When we arrived at the house, we found it to be very clean, warm and well stocked with everything - from the kitchen utensils to plenty of extra blankets. There was nothing missing and everything was in perfect working order. I am a clean freak and most of the places I have rented in OUray were less than desirable. Here, everything was spotless. Needless to say, we loved this house and the location. Now I am bummed become I want to come back next month and the place is already booked. I highly recommend this house for your Ouray vacations.

Home away from home :)

  • 5 of 5

I never thought I could go to a rental and not need to pack everything but the kitchen sink, this one however has it all ! Plenty of space, well cared for and very family friendly! Even with a few hiccups at the beginning the owners were quick to help make things most comfortable. It has been a very pleasant experience..kinda sad to leave.
