Contemporary comfort meets classic Santa Barbara in this fabulous home in the historic Bungalow District. Completely remodeled in 2008, no detail was left untouched in this gracious property. Each room has been finished with attention to style. The master suite with 4-post King bed boasts a large deck overlooking the city. The other 2 guest rooms are also tastefully furnished with King beds. All bathrooms have been thoroughly updated with new tile, floors, and fixtures.

The home is owned by successful film producers. Much attention was given to the large and beautiful Media Room. A 58' flat screen TV w/DVD and Surround Sound are enjoyed from brand new comfortable seating . Included is a daybed for extra lounging. A warm and cozy fireplace is the finishing touch on this special area of the home. A second fireplace adds atmosphere to the family/living room. Reading and conversation are made easy with the quality furniture and lighting.

The living room couch converts to a queen bed for extra guests. The kitchen has new stainless steel appliances and is fully stocked with everything a discriminating chef would need. New cabinetry, in the classic bungalow style, creates an environment for slowing g down and relaxing while in the kitchen. The property is centrally located. It is an easy 4-5 blocks to State Street with all the wonderful shopping, dining , and attractions of Downtown Santa Barbara. It is a 5 minute drive to the historic Santa Barbara Mission, the Natural History Museum, and Mission Canyon; the gateway to our beautiful mountains. The Santa Barbara Bowl, just a short walk, offers concerts under the stars. In addition, there are fun parks for the kids close by and a neighborhood market 1/2 block away. Historic Downtown Retreat provides all the best in a Santa Barbara getaway. It's style, comfort, and quality reflect the owners' love and passion for the Santa Barbara lifestyle.

Right at Home

We spent 3 very relaxing days in the Historic Downtown Cottage. It was very well appointed and we felt right at home. The kitchen faucet was loose and there was a slow leak from the valve under the sink. We noticed a small amount of water on the floor and upon investigation found quite a bit of water under the sink. We called Paradise Retreats who dispatched Steve to fix it, which he did. We found all the Santa Barbara locals very friendly, including Steve.

Long Beach, CA Brownie Troup #168 was here! Now 62-63 years old we found each other again after being friends in the 1950s- 1960s via Facebook. Kudos to social newtworking. This was our 3rd Reunion.
We came together in Santa Barbara and so enjoyed our stay in this Downtown Cottage. Shopping, eating, visiting, laughing and resting was only enhanced by our experience here. We felt safe, nourished and pampered. Thank you so much!

Rain or Shine is always a good time

(Transcribed from the Guestbook at the Home) We arrived for a 4 day getaway hoping we'd have good weather... but the big storm came in and we had lots of rain. That's okay because the cottage is cozy and we did lots of cooking after visiting Saturday's Farmers Market. Rain or shine is always a good time for wine tasting or beer tasting.. Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company in Buellton and Los Olivos Wine tasting rooms were great. Dinner to top the day is a must if your here, Wood Fire Pizza in Los Alamos. We visit Santa Barbara often so we look forward to more visits here in the sun.
PS for great coffee and espresso visit Handlebar Coffee on Cannon Perdido.

We arrived 4 days ago to spend Thanksgiving week in Santa Barbara. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, and prepared and celebrated our Thanksgiving with family here.
We are so impressed with the house, the well-appointed kitchen (a must for the cooking we did!) and attention to detail in everything- down to the great set of instructions you provided!
We loved everything about the house, our daughters favorite was the hot tub! Thank you, we are looking forward to coming back!

We arrived three days ago so excited for our girls trip! We immediately went to the beach on our bikes and walked around. Loved it! We shopped and ate and shopped some more. We took a bike ride around until we found the Santa Barbara Mission. It was beautiful! The shopping here was fabulous and I wish we weren't leaving. I can't wait to come back!
