This classic Santa Barbara property offers unobstructed views of the city, ocean, and Channel Islands. Located on the Riviera, the home looks out over a sea of red tile roofs, lending a European flavor to the setting. It was designed and built in 1930 by noted architect Henry Howell, whose homes reflect a distinctive sense of style and simple elegance. Each of the three floors has a terrace and there is a view of the ocean and city from virtually every room in the house. The entry level has an open design with an easy flow between the large living room, formal dining room, and bright sitting room. French doors open to the patio outside where sweeping ocean and city views can be enjoyed from sunrise to sunset.
The kitchen is well equipped with prep sink and has ample counter space for preparing meals. A gas BBQ grill is conveniently located on a small patio off the kitchen; this patio offers easy access to the lower outdoor terrace. The top level Master Bedroom offers spectacular views from the king size bed. Awaken each morning to cool coastal breezes, then step out to the sunny terra-cotta tiled patio. This patio takes full advantage of the fantastic views, and is a great place to contemplate your day's activities. The second upstairs bedroom with queen size bed has corner ocean views. A full bathroom serves both these bedrooms, with the added convenience of a second half-bathroom. The home is set up as an ideal 'two-family' vacation home. The 3 bedrooms on the bottom level create a separate and private setting, perfect for a second family. The first bedroom offers a king size bed. The middle bedroom is a great downstairs gathering spot for kids with its TV and two twin beds.
The third bedroom with Full size bed is appointed with vintage antique furniture, and has private access to the shared bathroom. A downstairs door opens to the covered terrace and yard. The ocean view from this terrace is framed in bougainvillea-draped arches. Dine outside in this 400 square foot outdoor living area, or simply rest quietly in the shade. Exercise equipment is available, and can be brought out to the terrace for daily workouts. Please note: Home will sleep 10 if 2 guests share the Double bed, otherwise, it sleeps 9. The property has maintained Santa Barbara's Mediterranean feel. The mature landscape is lush with native plants, fruit trees, palms, and birds of paradise. The neighborhoods of the Riviera are honeycombed with secret passage ways, and the streets are lined with stunning gardens and architecture. From the property, a quick drive takes you to downtown shops, restaurants or museums. Make this hillside home your next vacation destination.
Your stay at Villa Bougainvillea promises to be a memorable vacation experience, accented by the natural beauty that is the essence of Santa Barbara.
