Sugar Shack on the Gulf is a bright, breezy, well decorated vacation getaway. Built circa 1902, this quaint two-unit cottage is located just two blocks from the seawall! Sugar Shack has been completely renovated, with original hardwood floors, high ceilings and a fully appointed kitchen including granite counter tops and a glass tile back splash. The upstairs unit has one bedroom with a king-size bed, a second bedroom with a full size bed and a sectional sleeper sofa (queen size) in the living room. The downstairs unit has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a second bedroom with a twin bunk bed and a sectional sleeper sofa (queen size) in the living room as well. Everything about the decor of this charming cottage harkens back to it's historic island roots!
Each unit has a private front porch and spacious back deck that beckon you for morning coffee and evening margaritas to the sound of crashing waves, just blocks away. The private, fenced-in private back yard is beautifully landscaped with luscious tropical plants. Highly desirable, private off-street parking is located behind the backyard fence.
This home is walking distance to some of the locals favorite watering (and eating!) holes....including Captain Jack's, Saltgrass Steakhouse & ShyKatZ Restaurant.

I'm a native Houstonian, who grew up on Galveston's enchanting beaches. Sugar Shack is our second property on the island. Galveston has changed so much over the years...never been in better shape than today! My husband and I hope you fall in love with Galveston just as we have!

What a delightful "get-away"!!! We totally would recommend the Sugar Shack and will definitely return! :) Ron and Tony were very helpful and informative! And were quick to answer any thing that we needed! The unit was nicely supplied with everything ~ including beach towels and even some beach toys! Our dog was welcomed and loved being able to come with us! :) thank you soooo much for opening your lovely vacation "home" to travelers who love the "beach life" A++
Spent New Years in the Sugar Shack.....it was great! Very quiet and relaxing! Just a couple blocks from the beach and great restaurants!!!
Best part is the Sugar Shack is pet friendly so our fur babies had a great time too!!

I would highly recommend this place. A couple blocks from the beach. Well maintained and had everything you would need. Nice deck. Perfect for a beach week/weekend. The owners/managers were very accommodating. No complaints. We would definitely stay here again
The house was perfect for our family and dogs. The common area was very cozy while the bedrooms were down the hall and great if you need quiet time. The back porch patio was fenced in while the back yard was also fenced in creating options for our pups. I would definitely stay again.
I recently had the pleasure of staying in delightful cottage called the "Sugar Shack". Besides being neat, clean and beautifully furnished it had a loose leaf folder with local information for things to do in the area. The washer and dryer were top of the line as well as all of the other appliances. I got the impression that the unit had been prepared for the owners own use. Very Impressed and Highly Recommended!!
This cottage is located 10 blocks from the Pleasure Pier! Great tours available on the island....see the one of the best collections of Victorian Architecture in the United States, either by horse drawn carriage or segway! Other tours definitely worth your time, Duck Tour & Island Tree Sculpture! More information upon request.
