We are a family of three from White Rock, British Columbia. We have been coming to Whidbey for about ten years and feel very lucky to have purchased a home here. We hope to have many happy times at Whidbey in the years to come with our family and friends and are happy to be able to share it with you and your families!
Whidbey is so accesible! Halfway between Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington. We can be parked in our driveway in only one hour and ten minutes once we are through the Peach Arch border crossing. Very easy to access in that there is a bridge from the mainland to Fidalgo Island and the very famous Deception Pass Bridge brings you to Whidbey (read 24/7 access no ferry wait or fees required!), or if you prefer there is a ferry from Seattle at Mukilteo or Victoria, BC to Anacortes. Also the Keystone Ferry from Whidbey to the Olympic Penninsula takes you right into historic and picturesque downtown Port Townsend.
The beaches on Whidbey are pristine and there are lots of great lakes too! There is abundant sea life and whale watching is amazing here. The activities are endless........fishing, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, boating, sailing, kite boarding, surfers have a few secret spots, diving and underwater dive park, abundant mountain bike trails, antiquing galore, lavender fields, farms and vineyards, artists and artisans in abundance. Restaurants aplenty, shops, historical buildings, festivals, art shows movies, golfing you name it! Great jumping off point to exploring the San Juan Islands, Olympic Penninsula, Port Townsend, shopping the Burlington or Seattle Premium Outlets, Laconner, Historic Coupeville, Greenbank and Langley or just enjoy the large property from the deck! Do as much as you like or do nothing at all....it is a wonderful place to spend time, people are friendly and there are gorgeous vistas at every bend in the road.
We enjoy being so close to the water in a rural setting with horses and bunnies as neighbors but just a four minute drive to all the ammenities of Oak Harbor. The state and city parks are amazing here, but even if you just stay cuddled up in the house it is so comfortable and easy, the view changes many times throughout the day with the passing boats, tidal changes and just even the colours of the sky....you never have to leave...only if you want to!
