Photos and Description of the Philadelphia vacation house boat rental
Pisces Houseboat by SleepAfloat

Fun and funky SleepAfloat houseboat located in the heart of Old City Philadelphia. This area is a place of unique people, significant history, charming shops, intriguing night life, and loads of entertainment. You will be steps away from Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, and many other historical sights.

The houseboat's eleven foot ceilings with exposed beams, ceiling fans and air conditioning, provide a feeling of spaciousness and comfort. A full size refrigerator, sink, microwave and cook-top stove makes cooking easy. It has a comfortably sized bathroom with a full size shower.

The Master Bedroom has a queen sized bed, closet storage and a patio door leading to a private deck. Two twin beds in the sleeping loft are a great spot for kids, and the sleep sofa and aero-bed provide additional sleeping options. The well appointed houseboat provides a calming respite after a day full of activity. Imagine relaxing on the roof deck, drink in hand, enjoying your own private sunset!

Steps from the boat are Independence Hall, Independence Visitor Center, the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell Center and more of the countless historical attractions the Old City District has to offer. You will also be staying in Historic Penn's Landing, with numerous sites including a 19th Century Portuguese Fishing ship being restored.

The marina location: The Piers Marina’s sheltered, locked gate opens onto Columbus Boulevard, a riverfront thoroughfare. Right outside the gate is La Veranda, a fine Italian restaurant. About two blocks south is the Moshulu, a retired square rigger that’s permanently docked as a floating restaurant. Between the two eateries is the Independence Seaport Museum, with its two showpiece warships: the century-old battleship Olympia and the World War II submarine Becuna. In the same complex is housed the Workshop on the Water, where professional shipwrights and volunteers restore old boats, many of local interest. These are but a teaser for the attractions that lie west of Columbus Boulevard.

From The Piers Marina gate, it is an easy six-minute walk up a set of stairs and across a bridge to the bus stop at the corner of Second and Market streets, the hub of Philadelphia’s Old City section. From here — by foot, bus or subway— it is an effortless trip to scores of fascinating destinations.

All the amenities of home! : We provide an iron, ironing board, hairdryer, and loads of bathroom products such as soaps, shampoos, and lotions. All linens and towels are also provided. Absolutely loved this houseboat -- conveniently located to Penns Landing and a short stroll to Market Street and historic Philly. Everything we could ask for was included -- coffee, tea, condiments. Ryan couldn't have been more accommodating. Would recommend this to anyone, and we hope to try out the other houseboat locations!!!

Great alternative

5 of 5

I found this alternative after a frustrating attempt at finding hotel accommodations during a busy convention week in the city. The houseboat was well appointed and clean; the surrounding neighbors friendly without being too nosy and best of all, quiet. We enjoyed a splendid week with great weather and it was especially nice not to have to be at the mercy of finding restaurants for every meal. TV and wi-fi worked very well and had more than enough bandwidth to accommodate two very gadget happy people. I would do this again in a heartbeat!!!

Great for Families!

Submitted: August 6, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
If you have any hesitation about staying on a houseboat I'm here to tell you - go for it. Our family of 4 had such a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The marina was secure and we met friendly permanent residents who were very welcoming. The place was warm and inviting when we arrived and there was an attention to detail - whenever I needed something it seemed that it was right where I would have put it if it were my own home. Many conveniences were provided. The queen bed was perfect for a good nights sleep (and several times the incoming wake did gently rock us...) The loft beds are best for kids - would be a challenge for us older folks. We had one question and got a phone call back from Ryan immediately - even though he was on vacation too. We met Jack who takes care of the houseboat and he was very helpful and attentive. It was the perfect location to tour the historic sites and within close walking distance to markets and restaurants.

A co-worker and I stayed here for a conference we attended and the houseboat was great! We were able to walk to the conference as well as the Liberty Bell and local shops and eateries with ease.
