You are invited to experience life on an island off the coast of Maine, an island without cars. Embrace the comfort and charm of another era in a restored brick home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Diamond Cove is a 193-acre residential and vacation community on Great Diamond Island, two miles by ferry from Portland.
The weathered brick buildings of Fort McKinley, grouped around the lovely Parade Ground, have been carefully restored as private homes. Amenities include a gourmet restaurant, tennis courts, heated outdoor pool, general store, marina, exercise room, even the original gymnasium and bowling alley. Also five secluded beaches, old-growth forest, abundant wildlife, a moon garden, playground, pond, bicycle rentals, picnic areas, etc. Since there are no private automobiles, we enjoy the peace and magic of island living, combined with the beauty of a bygone era.
Each of the Parade Ground homes has two large porches, with outdoor furniture and a gas grill. The front porch is on the ground level and serves as a place to relax with friends or family and also as your main entrance to the home. Directly above it is another porch that is accessible from the master bedroom.
These units feature Satellite TV, are on the Parade Ground and very close to the Pool. Contact us with any question you may have about this unique vacation destination.
