Why Helen Murphy chose Spiddal Area

Even though Pollclabber cottage was a ruin when we bought it, we fell in love with the oasis feel to its beautiful setting and the stream running under the road and down through the field in front of the cottage. We felt it oozed potential. It is located on the edge of the Burren way walking route, cycle route and Atlantic Way, perfect for exploring the area.

What makes this cottage unique

Pollclabber Cottage is a pure rural idyll, with amazing walks. I adore that moment when I reach the crest of the hill just before the house and the Aran Islands come into view across the sea. It manages to take my breathe away every time. It revitalises and re-energises me every moment I spend there. I hope it does the same for all our visitors to Pollclabber

Guestbook comments from the owner

A little hard to find for us Americans but boy was it worth the drive. The house is wonderful! We couldn't have asked for better. So warm and welcome. Just like being at home only better. We are here in beautiful Ireland. You have done the remarkable with the house, from the simplistic design to the high quality appliances and furnishings and the elegant taste. This house has made our stay in Ireland a pleasant one. You have thought of everything. Nothing like a great game of table tennis to get all the family involved.

Relaxing haven for travelers!

  • 5 of 5
This wonderful vacation home was our last stop on a 10 day circuit tour of Ireland. The location was outstanding- close to nearby sights such as Cliffs of Moher, The Burren and Lisdonnvarna. Our family enjoyed relaxing in this warm home with puzzles, DVR movies, reading nook, long walks, bike rides and nearby horseback riding. We all wished we had more time in this home and location. Wish we had time to take a boat ride to the islands or by the Cliff of Moher.

Would highly recommend this home to anyone. Owner was very helpful with directions, info book on nearby attractions, and sports items to use ( bikes, surf boards).

Fantastic gateway

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in Pollclabber over the Easter bank holiday weekend and we had a fantastic time. The house was absolutely perfect, we couldn't have wish for more. It is nice and cosy, and you feel at home the minute you step foot in. It's also spotless clean and has everything you need. The bedrooms are very spacious and each of them is ensuite which is great. The outside patio was lovely and relaxing, and I could easily see children playing around being absolutely safe. The location is also perfect, remote for a relaxed and quiet holiday, but close enough to go around sightseeing. There are a lot of lovely walks available right from the house if you don't want to take your car. We had a great time there and we will surely be back for a longer holiday. Last little note for the owners who were very nice and helpful. Anyway if you were searching for the perfect holiday house, search no more!!

Wonderful Cottage

  • 5 of 5
What can we say other than Outstanding. The cottage is gorgeous - beautiful decorated - there was nothing missing - everything was there. The Owners - Helen and Se' were wonderful to work with, attentive to details and went out of their way to may you feel welcome and that all was working for the renters. Also - Christy and Bernadette made sure that all was taken care of and if you happen to need them - they were there to help. The area is beautiful - close to the Atlantic - with beautiful views and lots of area to explore. If you go - you must visit Doolin and the wonderful pub - O'Connors - we were there for the music and the great food. All in all - the 2 weeks that we were at the cottage were lovely and cannot wait to go back again. Maybe next time we will have some warmer weather and not so much wind. If you get the opportunity - go and stay at the Pollclabber Cottage - you will not regret it at all!

We loved staying at Pollclabber Cottage. The home was beautifully decorated, immaculate and in a scenic tranquil setting. The home lacked for nothing. We enjoyed coming home from a full day of sightseeing and lighting a fire in the stove and talking over our adventures for the day. There are many things to do near the cottage, traditional music pubs, Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, ringforts, and beautiful coastline areas and beaches. Helen the owner was most kind, prompt and helpful with any questions we had, and even offered suggestions of what to do in the area. You will be very happy you chose Pollclabber. It was our first experience in Ireland and Pollclabber Cottage started us off in a very positive way!

Great vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pollclabber Cottage. The property is located near the ocean and within a short drive of many picturesque towns and attractions. From this property we explored Loop Head, Galway, the Cliffs of Moer, the Aran Islands, Doolin, Ballyvaughn, Kilkee, and many towns along the way. We also enjoyed many walks around the immediate area (the owners mapped out several different walks). The property was new and very well equipped, and we loved the wood stove. Pollclabber Cottage is roomy and cozy at the same time. I would recommend this property to anyone that wants to explore County Clare and beyond!

A truly tranquil yet convenient location, overlooked by a castle

  • 5 of 5
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pollclabber cottage. A lovely renovation that is both comfortable, cozy and modern. We loved the views of the castle, the aran islands and the awesome cliffs. The walks in the area, the warmth of the house and the great wood-burning stove which was so efficient we could fire it up fairly late in the evening and quickly enjoy it's warmth just made it that much better. The house was spotless when we arrived, fully equipped and included a lovely welcoming gift.
I would recommend this house to friends and relatives and hope to stay again one day, while the Burren is in full bloom! Awesome area.

It is ideally located close to the Wild Atlantic Way, Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch golf courses, Burren Way walks, cycles and horse rides. The Burren is a unique limestone area with rare flora which mainly flower in May. The area is full of megalithic tombs, ancient castles and churches, monuments abound. Lisdoonvarna is host to a matchmaking festival in September and Doolin has wonderful traditional Irish music in the pubs in the evening time. The Cliffs of Moher, whether you visit them by road or by walking are truly one of the local wonders, close to the house. A day trip to the Aran Islands from Doolin Pier is like stepping back in time and well worth considering. Doolin and Ailwee cave, open to the public enhance the understanding of the limestone karst. There is an interpretative centre in Kilfenora which explains the uniqueness of this area.
