I have been a business owner in Cody since 1983 and owned and operated a roller skating facility until just a few years ago. I have also been a horse owner since the age of fourteen with the exception of the four years that I attended Western Michigan University. My family moved to Cody from South Lyon, Michigan where I boarded horses and raised german shepherds. In the later years I was also involved with the K-9 Search & Rescue Team. We brought Children, Horses, Dogs and Cats to 'Big Wonderful Wyoming'!
All three children graduated from Cody High School with the youngest attending the Wapiti School from grades K thru 6. My Morgan Mare went from Show Horse to Mountain Horse. She took care of me on the trail; as well as packing out Elk for the family. I purchased her at six months of age and lost her a few years ago at the great age of thirty three. She was my horse of a Lifetime! Cody Country is most definitely an Awesome place to raise a family and to visit!
Linda Bortels purchased this chateau / country house in 1986
Our Vacation Rental is located in the Wapiti Valley and offers outdoor experiences of a Lifetime! This property is located along on the River with excellent fly fishing and has an adundance of Elk and Mule Deer around the property at numerous times of the year. The Buffalo Bill Reservoir and Visitor Center is also near by and has boating and great fishing.
This Property has Unique Mountain Views and Great Sounds from the Shoshone River that offer Tremendous Peace and Tranquillity for our Guests. Such great amenities with Cody and Yellowstone nearby.
My partner and I and our 2 horses spent a week at Stagecoach River Ranch. Upon pulling in we were greeted and made welcome. We hooked up our LQ trailer to water, power and settled in. Linda gave us all the information as to where to ride, fish, and sight see. There were other travelers with and without horses and we never ran into issues. The rates are standard for what we found all during our one month travel on the road. The fences are very safe, the hay is of excellent quality. It was easy to haul in and out to the many nearby trailheads each day. Thanks Linda for making our Wapiti stay excellent! -Lori and Jeff. Max and Oreo.
Linda's ranch has breathtaking panoramic views all around. The peaks surrounding the place are really amazing and peaceful at the same time. You can literally just sit in front of the house, and enjoy a world-class view here, sort of going back in time, you know, old west, and start to love this place more and more. We really enjoyed our stay there, and ended up extending our stay because we loved it so much there! My parents live in Asia, which is far far away, but, they enjoyed it so much, so, they talk about coming back here,, what can we say more?
A bit more details.. Our family of 7 (2 seniors, 3 adults, 2 children) stayed there and found that there was more than sufficient space available for all of us. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking, and all the amenities were properly prepared. We stayed at the unit with 3 beds which is located on the first floor of Linda's home, and there are beautiful horses right outside the porch, which made our children super excited. Linda was very hospitable and took time to even take photo ups for our children on her horses before she actually heads out for trailing with her horses. The location is well separated from Cody's more crowded center, but, within convenient 20 min drive which also provides beautiful scenery of water & mountains. At night, we spent time to see nightly Rodeo in town, which was out first time actually seeing one, and it was fun. The buffalo bill museum is also very educational about Buffalo Bill & native American history, and it's worth seeing too if you are into such attractions. It takes about 2 hours from here to enter Yellowstone's East gate, which ultimately leads to Yellowstone lake. Overall, beautiful location, easy access to all major attractions, and superbly recommended!
I booked at Linda's ranch for a special vacation with my grandchildren. The ages of our group ranged from eight to fifty eight with the majority being teenagers! We ALL found the accommodations fabulous! The panoramic views around the cabin were breathtaking! The horses right outside our door and Linda's German Shepherd, Carrie added to the homey feeling of the stay. Everyone found there own favorite thing to do from visiting Yellowstone, fly fishing in the Shoshone river, beating a drum in our drum circle around a campfire, or just relaxing in the comfy, cabinlike rental. I especially loved the windowless bedroom- I was actually able to sleep in as I couldn't tell what time it was!! A real treat for this Grandma!! Linda was an excellent host! She even helped jump our truck when it wouldn't start one day! Would highly recommend this place for anyone needing a getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!!! Worth every penny we spent!!!!!
We first rented Stage Coach River Ranch due to the great fishing reviews and river access indicated. We arrived to find the river the color of chocolate milk due to all the rains but we were very pleased with our surroundings. Linda was a wonderful host; very accommodating, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The setting of this ranch was beautiful, close to Cody and Yellowstone. The accommodations were most adequate, recently updated with a second bath. Due to the arrangement of the bathrooms, one bedroom did lack some privacy but could be easily fixed with a screen or room divider. Everything was very clean and had lots of space. There were other people who were staying with horses and she had places for trailer hookups. We enjoyed a huge fire pit down by the river one night. The property layout offered enough privacy from other guests and staying downstairs with the spacious walk out basement was not a problem. A smaller bunk house area is also available for rental. You just felt "at home" here. The river did clear a bit but was not fishing well at the property so we were pleased to find lots of other access areas up the road and closer to Yellowstone that had not received quite as much rain ( sort of a rare incident for this time of year I think). We also enjoyed some good Brooktrout fishing in Sunlight Basin, over Dead Indian Pass, within driving distance of the ranch. We saw plenty of Elk, horses, Grouse, and rabbits - luckily, no bears. It was a fantastic vacation and we would highly recommend staying here.
We had a great time , we were out to see my mom and dad and it was there 60th wedding anniversary, we did all of our cooking there so we could visit and not have to go out to eat. Much more relaxing to visit, we had 22 people to eat, and there was plenty of space to sit, there was 12 that stayed at night and it was very comfortable. I was a little worried about having the owner upstairs with noisy but it was fine and She was so helpful, We asked her to take a family picture and even thew she was out side working she stop what she was doing and had us come up on the deck and she took the picture, it gave us the chance to get the picture developed and framed and gave it you mom and dad as a present the next day as we were leaving. The guys got together and tried fly fishing for the first time that was fun, The week went fast but it was a great time.
My husband and I stayed at this wonderful property along with my elderly parents for 3 nights. It had everything we were looking for: spacious, CLEAN accommodations with easy access; great location between Cody and the east entrance of YNP; and river front access to the Shoshone River for fishing. Linda is an excellent hostess, who showed us the ropes upon arrival but then kindly left us on our on, unless we needed her assistance or had questions. The views were absolutely amazing and so was the fishing! My elderly father, who has fished in many places in the U.S., loved the easy access to the river and caught some beautiful trout! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Stagecoach River Ranch!
Stagecoach River Ranch is located directly on the Shoshone River for absolutely awesome fishing and is for our Guests Exclusively!
