This historic home is a treasure for those seeking the classic charm and character that comes with original wood floors, spacious rooms, classic tile, and other special touches.

This home is a quaint mixture of original furnishings and updated bathrooms and full kitchen. In addition to the formal dining room the house includes a separate breakfast nook, plus 2 living areas to spread out in and enjoy- a formal living room and a den/TV room. Each tiled bathroom is very large, and one includes a separate tub and tub/ shower combination. 2 families can easily afford to spread out here! In fact, your property managers will be happy to provide an extra air mattress to accommodate extra guests. In addition, porches on the front and back of the home allow visitors to relax and enjoy those great, wide-open West Texas skies.

A short stroll will take you to the heart of Alpine where you can enjoy dining, shopping, art galleries and more. Or walk a few blocks East to Sul Ross State University, home to the Museum of the Big Bend. If you feel like a day trip, Marfa, Fort Davis, and Marathon are each only half an hour away, while Big Bend National Park is a comfortable hour and 15 minute drive from Alpine.

Nice house, but neglected.

The house is a good size and in a good location. The outdoors are messy (all the fall leaves were still outside) and there is a huge, black old sound system that nobody has used or dusted in a long time. There is also a lot of dust beneath the beds, guess the property needs some deep cleaning service.
All of this I could have easily overlooked; but we stayed from 12/22 until 12/26 and was expecting some kind of Christmas decorations. We have spent the Holiday's in other vacation rentals before and we always find some sheerful ornaments, until now. I was a little bit chocked, there was nothing, and along with the mounds of leaves outside and the somehow dusty environment, the house had a sense of neglect that gave it a very sad atmosphere. We had to rush and set up some very basic Christmas tree to lighten up the place before the rest of the family arrived.

In general we had a pleasant stay, but in particular, it was also disappointing.
Be warned, if you are planning some Christmas time here, be sure to bring your own ornaments and maybe some dusters as well.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. I will make sure the house is dusted more thoroughly and I will speak to the owner about getting a better stereo system. The leaves are a constant problem with the high winds, especially the days before your arrival, so there was no solution to that with the holidays but usually the yard is very nice and immaculate. This is the first holiday season having the vacation rental so we will definitely do Christmas decorations next year. Thanks so much for your advice.

i came down here with a group of friends from the dallas area and also austin to spend the weekend. it was great! the house is spacious, and stocked with supplies (linens, cleaning stuff, dishes, pans). i dont think anyone in my group used the washer/dryer, but it is there. we didnt see the tenant in the backyard all weekend. this is an older house and it has a lot of character.... CUTE character. loved the tile bathrooms! it also has a two car garage and a front and back porch. its within walking distance to downtown... on saturday morning we walked to the farmers market.

Lovely Property

Had a pleasant stay here. The house is spacious and does not lack for character. Yard is huge and has a great patio. There definitely needs to be a mention of the tenant in the description. We weren't aware of one until after our deposit window was expired. Lucky for us the tenant was not here during our stay. Had she been this would of been awkward as her house is very near the back patio. Other than a minor problem, which was dealt in a quick manner by the wonderful property manager, our stay was memorable and quite enjoyable. We would certainly stay here again. The house was in a great location and we felt safe the entire time. We even saw a huge deer in the front yard on our first night!

This is a large, beautiful old home in the prettiest part of Alpine. Positives: comfortable beds, plush towels, lots of room. Negatives: only one TV, which is in the smallest room of the house, and a renter that lives in the back yard. I wish this had been disclosed before we rented, as I quite literally walked in on her while I was getting familiar with the property. She is very friendly, but don't expect to be out late on the back porch, because her studio is very close. Also, I wouldn't recommend for families with very small children, as there are a few uncovered electrical outlets. Overall, a beautiful home though. I would stay there again.

The tenants are disclosed in the guest book but I agree that should be something disclosed prior to arrival or prior to reservations. Sorry about that situation.
