Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Nestled in nature, this 3bd/2ba log cabin ranch home is the perfect combination of modern convenience with old world charm. The majestic long range view is breathtaking! Relax and enjoy family and friends from the wrap around deck complete with rockers, chairs, and a picnic table for serving dinner and drinks.

The massive wood burning stone fireplace in the den creates an atmosphere of relaxed family times. Remember when you enjoyed evenings with the family playing board games or cards? We have those for your use to reconnect with those times and make new memories. Of course , the new 42' flatscreen TV with expanded cable and DVD remind us that modern conveniences are great, too.

The kitchen is complete with new stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and all the necessities to prepare those home cooked meals. The washer and dryer are located in the laundry room off the hall. The dining area seats 6 and is open to the living and kitchen areas. The living area has new 'heart pine flooring' and oriental rugs.

The large master bedroom has a king size 4 poster bed, dresser with mirror, nightstand, ceiling fan with lights, large walk-in closet and private bath with tub/shower combination. The second bedroom has a queen size 4 poster bed, dresser with mirror, night stand, ceiliing fan with lights, and a large walk-in closet. The third bedroom has two twin beds, dresser, mirror, ceiling fan with lights, and a large walk-in closet. The second and third bedrooms share a bath with tub/shower combination. All rooms have individual heating controls to insure your total comfort in each of the rooms.

Our cabin is located on the last road on Sugar Mountain facing Beech Mountain. The land below is undeveloped and the only home you see behind the property is the little farm (complete with red barn) at the base of the mountain. Remember when you could hear the birds and the wind when you walked outside without other man made sounds? You will find that here. If you hear a car, it will be coming down the driveway !

We are convenient to all of the restaurants and attractions in Banner Elk, Blowing Rock and Boone. There are always so many things to do in the Highlands that you could stay for weeks and never repeat your activities!!!

Married for 35 years, Manager with a Fortune 500 food company with 39 years of experience. My wife is a Realtor. We have 3 sons, a daughter-in-law and one granddaughter and one grandson. Love our English Bulldogs.

Why Carole Blocker chose Sugar Mountain

Always vacationed in the area when the kids were growing up. One of our sons was on scholarship as a baseball player at Appalacian State University. We purchased this with the intent of selling it after his career at ASU. That was 12 years ago and I doubt we would ever sell our cabin. It is used by our whole family and many friends as their vacation rental. Many use it repeatedly.

What makes this cabin unique

We go as often as we can. It is perfect for family gatherings or when my wife and I just want to get away. After all these years we still get excited about our time here. This is where you can totally relax, unwind, read a book, enjoy fabulous restaurants, take a nature walk, shop, antique, visit the Mast General Store, go horseback riding, ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, picnic, hike, fish, ski, play golf, play tennis, listen to bluegrass, eat barbeque at Woodlands Barbeque and enjoy the nightly music, see a play, browse art shops, go to Kelwin's for ice cream and fudge, look for furniture, drive to see the Bristol 500, go to craft shows, shop the pottery shops, go to the outlet mall, etc., etc., etc.

Great Weekend Trip!

We had a wonderful time! The house was exactly as described. Very clean! Beautiful mountain views. Owner was very prompt in answering any questions that we had. Less than 5 minutes to Sugar Mountain Skiing, tubing and ice skating. Can't wait to go again soon!!

We had a great time here at this very clean cozy cabin! The cabin had great views and we enjoyed the fires in the big fireplace! I'd recommend this to anyone, any age!

Wonderful Snow / Mountain Family trip

my family stayed at the house over MLK weekend and had a blast. It snowed 11 inches and the driveway down to the house was the most fun sledding my kids have ever had.
The house is in wonderful shape and has that mountain house feel to it. Huge fireplace and views you cant describe without being there. I highly recommend this home to families wanting a mountain retreat.

Gorgeous views, clean, and cozy

Our families had such a wonderful time on Sugar Mountain in this spacious yet very cozy cabin. It was everything we had hoped for in a vacation rental- great location, gorgeous views, and overall just peaceful, warm, and inviting. The view from the master bedroom is breathtaking. We absolutely loved building fires in the wood fire place every night. The rocking chairs on the wrap around deck were perfect for relaxing with hot cocoa and watching the stars from the mountain top. Appliances/cooking utensils/linens were all available and there is a grocery store at the foot of Sugar Mountain (only about a 5-10 minute drive)- very convenient. We were within five minutes of the slopes/tubing/ice skating. We hope to come back again next year- we loved it!
