Hartwell Hideaway is a perfect place to relax, play and getaway. Built in 2005, Hartwell Hideaway is a large, 5-bedroom lake home nestled on a 1 ½ acre wooded lot. It offers a tremendous amount of on-site activities and is located within the Appalachian Recreation area providing endless excursions.
For those interested in playing in the water we provide a kayak, paddle board, pedal boat, floats and fishing gear. One of our favorite activities is to float in the cove and towards the end of the day catch the sunset on the water. We recommend making that a margarita sunset – we furnish a Jimmy Buffett Margarita machine and our infamous “Jim-a-rita” house recipe. For those seeking a more relaxing onsite experience we encourage a nap in the hammocks, a long dip in the hot tub, or sun bathing and reading on the upper deck. Campfires on the beach or on the dock’s fire pit are priceless as well.
Food, music and drink are a big part of Hartwell Hideaway. We supply a fully stocked kitchen, a large grill and smoker for those wanting to get their “BBQ-on.” Happy hour is typically served at the Patio Bar with tiki torches and a game of Bimini Ring Toss. Evening activities include foosball, darts, Ms. Pacman (on the the Ms. Pacman Arcade table to include Galaga and more), board games or movies on the 56 inch HDTV. Yes, we have a huge, fluffy, reclining pit couch in the entertainment room to watch games and movies. Though don’t be afraid to just have conversation and quiet time on the upper deck with a nice fire in the chiminea. Flashlight tag is a favorite for the kids.
Offsite adventures are endless. Right out the back door you can start a day of boating, skiing, fishing, and site seeing. Within 15 minutes on the water you can be on the white beaches of Tugaloo State Park, a secluded island, or join in the fun at Party Island. Tugaloo State Park is a ten minute car drive and provides a mega boat ramp, tennis courts, nature trails, evening nature shows, mini golf, and other facilities. You can tie your boat at Hartwell Hideaway’s dock, or if you need a boat or jet ski rentals can be arranged at nearby Harbor Light Marina. Within 30 – 40 minutes you can be shopping, antiquing, golfing, hiking next to waterfalls, horseback riding or taking a tube or canoe down multiple rivers.
Hartwell Hideaway is a 2,400 sq ft, multi-level house designed for entertaining and spreading out large groups. It has one king-bed room, two queen-bed rooms, one room with two twin beds, and one room with a twin bed and a bunk bed. All king and queen beds have down-alternative comforters with duvet covers and all duvets/comforters are washed and changed after every stay.
Hartwell Hideaway is about 90-minutes from Atlanta; 45-minutes from Andersen, Clemson, Athens, or Helen; and 15-mintues from Toccoa or Lavonia.
