Cozy modern mountain cabin in the Los Padres National Forest just 45 minutes from Bakersfield and 75 minutes from the San Fernando Valley. Pine Mountain is one of Southern California's best-kept secrets--a small alpine village with a four-season climate. We have light snow in the Winter, spectacular wildflowers in Spring, and gorgeous Fall colors. It's a wonderful getaway—and yet so close!
Our two-story home is located on a quiet street at 5771 feet. Lovely pine ceilings throughout the cabin contribute to the warm ambience. The 1100 sq. ft. interior is furnished in a modern style with a leather sofa and some cool abstract art on the walls. The living room has a wood stove and 50' HDTV with direct satellite & Blu Ray DVD. A skylight in the living room brings in lots of light.
The master bedroom (queen bed) is separate from the downstairs and reached via a spiral staircase leading up to French doors. The master bathroom adjoins the bedroom and has a skylight over the double length tiled shower. A second bedroom downstairs has a day bed with trundle.
Upper and lower decks offer lovely views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio range. Relax on the sunny decks or in the Adirondack chair near the pond surrounded by pine trees. Plan to do some bbqing--it is so pleasant to do some grilling on the upper deck bbq and dine outdoors.
Our cabin is VERY clean and well-kept. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people. PLEASE no smoking or pets! Four guest passes to club facilities are provided (e.g. tennis courts, golf course, pool, club lounge, cafe, game room). Wireless INTERNET accessible throughout the cabin so bring your laptop! We also provide an Ethernet cable, if needed.
Mt. Pinos has the best view of the stars in So. California—star parties are common whenever there is a new moon. In addition, since we are in the Padres National Forest - wildlife (deer, raccoons, bobcat, fox, bunnies, squirrels, quail, stellar and scrub jays) abounds. Rare California Condor preserve located on Cerro Noroeste Road (main road through town) approximately 15 miles west.
We have an extraordinary number of sunny days—it is rare to have a gloomy day. Since SNOW may be present during cooler months be sure to carry chains. Our roads are well-maintained but the CHP is strict about safety when snow is possible. Sledding awaits at Mt. Pino's (8300' - 8800') just 15-20 minutes away, GREAT for cross-country skiing and snow-play destination!
The local Village Commercial Center is 2 miles away and offers access to a market, gift shops, several restaurants, ice cream store, laundromat and a spa. There are lots of hiking trails nearby as well as a fishing pond!

This cabin is our first home and we lived here for 20 years until a job change forced a relocation. We remodeled extensively about 8 years ago. It is a beautiful cabin and we love coming to visit.
Debra Sheets purchased this cabin in 1989
It is very peaceful to spend a few days here-- and also comfortable. We LOVE being here with time to read, hike, relax.....did I mention slowing down and enjoying life? BREATHE!

Thank you so much for renting us to stay in your beautiful cabin for my daughter's birthday. It was a very organized, clean, beautiful and cozy cabin. The view of the forest from the patio was very breathtaking. The kids really loved the movie collection! We will definitely be coming back!
A beautiful, cozy, very clean and modern cabin! Fantastic for two or a couple with small kids! Have never seen such a comprehensive movie collection, never thought of renting something! Beautiful kitchen and shower as well...
Thank you so much for renting us your beautiful cabin Debra. Our kids enjoyed the clean air and the great view from your porch, not to mention the fun fire stove inside. We'll probably plan another trip for the summer months so we can hike longer and go fishing. Thank you again!
We're struggling with writing a review for this special little place, since we rather like to keep such great finds to ourselves :) but if you are heading Pine Mountain way, the truth is you won't find many a better place to stay. The area's ever changing micro climate is on view from both decks, the air clean and cool, the night sky star-studded, and the cabin's interior finishes and features were found as advertised. Debra's experience as a vacation property hostess was helpful, too, as she anticipated our every question and need. Book. Arrive. Relax. Enjoy! Repeat as necessary. We certainly intend to.
For anybody in LA this is a perfect destination. It's close but feels far. It's new but feels rustic. The surroundings are beautiful, the view is great, the area quiet, and the cabin very well maintained. We contacted Debra last minute, and she was very accommodating. We booked in the morning and were there later that day! Everything was perfect. Thank you Debra.
What a wonderfully cozy stay! We have stayed at many Home Away destinations but none that had so many thoughtful touches. Kitchen was STOCKED with everything you'd need to cook - just bring food and your ready to go! Games, DVD's comfortable bed with cozy linens - it is all here. We loved getting away from it all with a 10 and a 13 year old you are going nonstop so being "off the grid" for family time is just what we needed. Hiking, golf, tennis and fishing made many memories - we will be back! Debra is such a wonderful host and so very nice to have had the pleasure to meet.
