This was my father's home. He is now gone, but his dream of Cedar Key lives on in his home. We visit when we can, and build our family memories here with our children and hopefully our grandchildren. Recently retired, we hope to spend more time here.
Cedar Key is a quiet laid back experience for the true nature lover. We enjoy parking the car, renting a golf cart and exploring the island afresh each visit. Ospreys call us, ibis watch us in the back yard, pelicans glide by our dock. We ride our bikes, walk, talk and enjoy each other's company again.
We stayed 8 days in the house and were so happy with the layout of the house, the dock, the extras from the paper products to the washing detergent which were provided. The bonus room is the bomb! Washer drier etc... Plenty of space for any extra or extras you may bring or just to hang out. Perfect place for your pets to stay when you are out. smooth painted conctete floor. Just right for pets when you are out etc....We took crab pots, fishing gear, and our kayak and were able to use all! Kayaking is wonderful here! Caught more than 6 dozen plus nice blue crabs off the dock and just over by the marsh across from the dock. The kitchen is incredible with everything we needed and more. Kitchen is fully rquipped, everything you need, even down to your wine corker! Nice big fridge in kitchen, nice dining room and living room space all open in one very large room! Ceiling is all wood planked and vaulted. Really nice! Nice rustic feel and homely! Plus a big fireplace. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Master bedroom has it's own bath. I think all the closets are cedar lined wood. I know the master is. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and also the covered dock fishing and/or watching sunrises and/or sunsets. Both!. We loved this place and selfishly hope it doesn't sell before we can rent it again! Overall, a great place for the value $$$.
We started off with a bad experience because the cleaning people had not arrived to clean the place. Once we were finally able to get in, we did ok other than the musty smell in the entire house, especially the second bedroom. It was so strong that we had to switch to the third bedroom to be able to sleep. The next day we turned the AC and a dehumidifier on which helped a bit, but this was a tough stay for allergy sufferers. Loved Cedar Key!
We spent the week at this great property in Cedar Key. This was not our first trip to Cedar Key and as our family has grown, so has our need for more space. This home provided the indoor and outdoor space to fit all of our needs. The dock was a great place for the grandkids to explore the bayou and look for sea creatures. The great room provided plenty of space for our Thanksgiving dinner. The fireplace was a wonderful gathering place on the cool north Florida evenings to talk about the day and plan the next day's adventures. Our dog loved the yard and the remoteness of the house from the main road. Kayak launching was easy in the back yard and we enjoyed exploring the back bayou. Although it seemed like a long way away, downtown was a quick bike ride, golf cart ride or car excursion. We hope to be back. On our last evening the furnace stopped working. The rental agent quickly arranged for a repairman to come and the heat was back on in less than an hour. Great customer service Jeannie!
Beach Chic was the relaxing getaway we were looking for. Very peaceful and relaxing. Even the dog enjoyed herself hanging out while we fished. The view from the dock was spectacular. We will return soon.
Cedar Key is a quiet, laid-back spot on Florida's nature coast. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the water, the birds, the fishing and the food - real good local fish and shellfish. The house is well laid out and well appointed with a large living, dining, kitchen area with a high beamed ceiling and a view of the bay. There is a covered dock with a fish cleaning station. There is a bald eagle nest off to the left of the property and an osprey nest off to the right. It is a birder's paradise. There are great places to eat in the town center which is about ten minutes away by car. We had a very enjoyable, refreshing time here. If you want to just sit back and relax, this is the place.
This charming home is clean, beautiful and attractively furnished. We enjoyed our three day stay in late January, even if the weather didn't cooperate. Interesting birds on the "skinny water". We felt very comfortable and secure here.
