My husband built this house, we started clearing the land in Sept. 1990, we moved into our house Nov. 1993. We put a double wide MH on the property and lived in it until the house was completed.
vickie fields purchased this house in 1990
My husband and I both grew up in Brunswick. We loved this property for the reasons you'll read below.
Serenity,Peace, and Quiet. Sit on the front porch, and you have a country view. Pine trees, live oaks with moss, birds, squirrel, and deer. Back porch, coastal view with unending, ever changing marsh, uninhabited islands, creek, birds, and extraordinary sunsets.
We have used VRBO for over 8 years and this is the first time we have ever met the owner. Vickie makes you feel very welcome in her home. As the reviews said she wants to meet you and welcomes you with ice tea and sweets. We loved going to Jekyll Island and St.Simon Island and learning the history around the area. Since our trip was in December we thought we wouldn't use the pool but leave it to 4 grandchildren and a son in law they did the polar plunge on New Years Eve!!
With 5 bedrooms, ample kitchen and living areas (indoors and outdoors) and the welcome treats prepared by the owner...what was not to like? Secluded site with dock to fishing spot and a pool to chill in, we used it all. Recommended!
We arrived early and were welcomed in without any issue at all. We unpacked and settled in for a week long of relaxation. We fished, we kayaked, we grilled out and had 2 low country boils. The local seafood is delicious. Defintely check out Poteets. If our jounreys bring us to GA again, we will definitely book this location again.
On arrival, the owner was available at the house to orient us with the home. She also had picked up some items from the store and made tea for our arrival. She was very hospitable and friendly. Very dog friendly as well, but if your dog chases cats, they must be kept on a leash while outside. The home met our expectations for the price range, repairs to the dock appeared to be in progress. The pool was refreshing, we had chosen the hottest weekend of the year to visit. We made a day trip to Sapelo Island, and also one to Jekyll Island. All in all the home had all the amenities one would need and the owner was close by to assist with any extras. Sunrises and sunsets over the marsh were spectacular. Really enjoyed our little family reunion here, and am thinking it would be an awesome girls getaway.. Note****tides are swift at times off of the dock. We had brought kayaks to use, but it was hot and our grown kids preferred the pool. The dock however is very conducive to kayaking and it would be a lovely paddle if the tide is caught at slack tide. Local knowledge would be helpful for navigating the marsh.
Our entire family enjoyed a whole week at Vickie's spacious vacation home. We had three generations under one roof. It was so clean and nice. We had plenty of room and never felt crowded. The fishing dock, pool and screen porch were just three of the main attractions. It was so quiet and restful. Vickie was an awesome hostess, always making sure we had everything we needed from fishing bate to wonderful pastries, fruits and fruit juices. I would recommend this home for vacation fun and hope our family can visit again in the future.
We returned to this spot for vacation again this year. Now it is not only a beautiful and well appointed vacation spot, but it holds priceless memories for our family. The hosts are unlike any you will meet any where. Their attention to you and concern for your well being is really quite remarkable. There is just nothing like this place. What a gift to stay here and the price is the best deal anywhere. It has become one of our favorite places on earth.
