About The Owner

Maui has been my home for 38 years. I have been a carpenter during this time. I also have a small organic farm, and sell my produce at the Kula Nalu Farmers Market.Ialso enjoy surfing and painting watercolor pictures.

I bought this unit for my daughter to live in while she was attending U.H. Hilo

Wainaku Terrace is a well managed apartment,with great security.I like the location,because it is so close to town.

Good experience overall

The spaces are good consider it is an apartment. It also has a good sized balcony as it is at the end of building. The 1.5 bathroom is also convenient.

During the night, there are certainly many animal (bird, frog, insects) background noise, plus a small stream running right outside the building, as well as raining. The owner told us these beforehand, and we quickly get used to it. To me, it was actually a pleasant experience of something different -- isn't that what you are looking for during vacation? (There were also some traffic noises but not too much.)

During our stay, we need a hair dryer as the hair would not dry easily amid the wet air. We did not find one in the room but was able to borrow one from the property manager right downstairs who is a very nice person.

It would be good if there could be a bit more kitchen supplies: salt would be a must. A couple more chairs would also help. There is no elevator and the apartment is on the 3rd floor.

Overall, it was a what we expected and we had a nice 3 day stay.

Great Location, Lovely Apartment, Just Perfect!

Our stay at the apartment was very very good. The apartment is a very very good size, well spaced, we all fitted comfortably without feeling cramped.

I was concerned with the previous review mentioning that the place was noisy, until we arrived and realized that the "noise" was actually amazing nature sounds. One definitely feels in the middle of a jungle, which is so nice and relaxing!

I also have to disagree that the apartment is equivalent to a 1 or 2 star hotel. I don't know too many hotels (stars or no stars) that provide a walk-in closet, a ton of closet space, kitchen with full appliances, balcony and a parking space! The only only thing missing is a curtain in the master bedroom for privacy. Other than that this place is great and very much staying in our memories as a wonderful location.

Lastly, we were originally going to stay at a resort and canceled once the apartment worked out. So glad we did! We had a look at the resort area in Hilo, and this apartment is a gazillion times nicer, prettier and better located.

I hope to go back one day!

Basic Accomodations

This was a very basic rental. I would compare it to dorm style accommodations. It was right for the price, and it does have a kitchens so that is a plus. The renter is VERY nice and helped out quickly with an issue with the toilet and got it taken care of right away. He even checked in to make sure everything was worked out okay. I must admit, it was about as I expected for the price. It was close to town, very small pool, and pay laundry. The road noise it pretty bad, so bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. It worked out well for us since there were two of us traveling for work, we both had separate rooms, and it was great to have a full kitchen while we were there, but it was definitely one or two star accommodations. I gave it three stars because it was pretty much what I expected for the price.
