10 adults - 7 children - an amazing week. My wife and I took our 4 kids, their spouses and the 7 Grandkids, newborn to 5 to the mountains. The house was perfect for us. Lots of room for everyone. Kitchen was great for all the cooking we did. A bedroom for each family was wonderful, and they are spacious with mountain views in each. The dining room easily accommodated all of us. The great room was perfect for hanging out and seeing mountains in every direction. The room in the downstairs was a great area for the kids to play. The pool was the perfect size for all of us to have fun. The library is also a great place to hang out and catch up.
Obviously Rocky Mountain National Park was fabulous. And if you want to learn to fly fish I recommend Kirk's Fly Shop in Estes Park.
All in all the experience in the house was perfect. It is close to everything you need or want to do. I would not change a thing.
We had an amazing week at La Casa de la Luz! Two families combined for 10 people staying at this amazing property for a full week. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful home, convenient location to tons of activities, efficient and well-stocked kitchen, plus the hospitality from the owners and staff. Our favorite parts of the house included the swimming pool for kids, movie area for everybody, and all the great spaces throughout the house that encouraged small groups to chat or play games. The lovely views were a huge bonus along with lots of walks around the property. We recommend the Allenspark stables for a great horseback riding experience, Kirk's Fly Shop in Estes Park for guided fly fishing, the Gem Lake hike for those looking to have a family adventure, Fun City for some family fun, the Ghost Tour at Stanley Hotel, and lots of trips to Safeway in Estes Park to stock up on food to use the amazing kitchen. We hope to make a return visit in the future!
We rented La Casa de la Luz May 20th for a week. We were there for our son’s wedding at a nearby lodge, the whole family, with 10 adults & 4 children. Each morning we would wake up & stand on the balcony to take in the beauty of the surrounding area and mountains. The house is a home away from home with a fully stocked kitchen, dishes, flatware, cookware, glasses etc., even seasonings! Each bedroom has a private bathroom within the suite. I am a “fussy” person when sleeping in someone else’s bed but the mattress & bedding were in excellent condition & provided for good sleep. The house is beautifully decorated with personal touches of the owner. It was very clean & well maintained. The pool was the perfect play area for the grandchildren & adults to relax in. We toured & hiked the area & Elk came up to the back windows of the house. We had the rehearsal dinner at the La Casa de la Luz & there was abundant space for each guest to enjoy the bridal couple, friends, relatives & food. Our siblings, 6 couples, rented cabins in the surrounding area & La Casa de la Luz was the central location for all of us to get together for a relaxing, enjoyable week. Most mornings we all met at the Mountain Meadow Café for a delicious home cooked breakfast, the food was scrumptious! The planning for this week began in November, ’13 & the management went above & beyond to answer each question promptly by phone or email & welcomed us personally on the day of our arrival. The lack of cell phone coverage was only a slight inconvenience but the land line phone gave each of us sufficient communication. Cell coverage is available in Estes Park.
We left La Casa de la Luz with wonderful family memories created in the home that will last a lifetime.
Our family of thirteen--my husband and I, our three adult children and their spouses, and five grandchildren ranging in age from 1 1/2 to 14--spent a wonderful week in this incredible
luxury property. Each family had their own space; we dined together at a table with a place for each. We enjoyed the pool, property, and living spaces--building new family memories for all.
The owner and managers were helpful in answering our questions and recommending activities--although the Estes Park area has been a favorite vacation place with my husband and I for years. This place is a winner--close to Rocky Mountain Park trails and with views of God's country from every room.
This chalet made for the perfect location for our Colorado Christmas. We had a total of seven adults with plenty of room to breathe. There were activities for all to enjoy, from shopping in nearby Estes Park to swimming in the pool, to hiking. We spent much time spotting wildlife out the windows in the mornings; most exciting were the coyote and moose. The property manager was helpful with any questions and truly tried to make our stay enjoyable. She even delivered a package that was mailed for one of us. We were welcomed in spite of forgetting about the time change and arriving early. The maintenance gentleman that we interrupted with our early arrival stopped what he was doing and offered to help unload our truck. The hospitality was genuine and very much so appreciated since the majority of the family arrived much to late to help. I'm not sure if it is mentioned in the description of the chalet, but all the floors have radiant heat, which was most comfortable to wake up to in the morning. The dining room table provided ample space for all the games we brought with room for us to play them without moving anything. Ultimately, if you are looking for a location to relax, yet still be close to a town if needed, this is the location for you. There is no cell service on the mountain, which makes unplugging from the daily grind a welcome necessity. You could easily have 12+ people in this chalet and not trip over each other. The manager and maintenance people are friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome and relaxed. There is plenty of reading spots to cozy up in and a diverse library with lots of books and games. The chalet is also located such that you are within a wide variety of activities if you want options for things to do. Not to mention, the rooms are all lovely. Personally, I don't sleep well in other beds, but these were high quality mattresses that made even my first night's slumber peaceful. You just can't go wrong staying here. We look forward to going back soon.
An absolutely amazing place! Everything you need is there and everything is top quality. The owners are very nice, were very helpful in answering questions about the area and things to do. We had 5 families and there was plenty of space for everyone...absolutely perfect for large groups. We made some great memories, just hope that at some point we can go back and make more!
