WOW! BEAUTIFUL MTN. HOME ON PRIVATE RANCH. VIEWS! MIDWAY BETWEEN ZION AND BRYCE

Alton Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

Our home on the private Old Lazy Bar S Ranch is a great refuge from the city and heat. Located one mile off of scenic Highway 89, and 40 miles from either Zion or Bryce Canyon National Parks, this mountain home is nestled against ponderosa pine covered hills with views of pink cliffs and a natural mountain lake.

Our 3,300 sq. foot home is spacious, clean, and beautiful. There are ground entries to both the upper and lower levels. Located on the upper level are the great room, kitchen and dining area, master bedroom with adjoining bathroom, and laundry room. The kitchen is fully equipped plus there is a second refridgerator in the laundry room. Windows in the great room and dining area offer AMAZING views of the surrounding mountains, fields and lake. Located on the lower level are two bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting area, and large family room complete with piano, cable TV, video games, exercise equipment ,and view.

Soak in the sun through the cathedral windows, or enjoy the shade while you swing on the glider of the covered deck. HIKE in the hills behind the cabin. Enjoy roasting a marshmallow or hotdog in the fire pit, and make sure you stay up late enough to see the billions of STARS in the night sky. Chances are high that you will see DEER grazing in the fields, EAGLES soaring high in the BRILLLIANT BLUE SKY, and wild DUCKS, geese, and other water fowl on the lake.

There is a king-sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen-sized bed in a second bedroom, and a full-sized bed and queen bed in the third bedroom. There are also two queen-size self-inflating air mattresses available with plenty of floor space for them in the family room. A portable crib is also available upon request. There is one full bathroom downstairs and one full bathroom upstairs.

NO SMOKING AND SORRY, NO PETS

This is a perfect base camp for seeing the national parks in Southern Utah as well as a great place for anyone just wanting to get away from it all. If you love the outdoors, PRIVACY, and the feel of peace, you will love our place!

My husband and I started our family in Hawaii where he was born and raised. We've lived on the mainland for 22 years now. I am a homemaker, retired RN, and outdoor enthusiast. I love hiking, biking, exercising, and gardening. My husband is a consultant and enjoys tinkering on his '84 CJ7. We have four children and a black lab named Harley. I trained for my first century bike race on the roads around the ranch. I LOVE Zion National Park and continue to hike there. If you love the outdoors, you will love our place!

Tracy Camit purchased this cabin in 2008

The Lazy Bar S Ranch is 0ver 100 years old. Before there was even a home here we came here for family reunions, horseback riding, and cattle branding. My parents built the cabin in 1997 and added on to it to make it big enough to live in in 2004. We purchased it from them in 2008 with plans to live there indeffinitely, but chose to move to Las Vegas in 2011 to be closer to family. Because the idea of selling our home didn't feel right, we decided to keep it and use it as a vacation rental so that we can still spend time at this amazing place.

You truly feel like you've left the world behind when you stay at our home on the old Lazy Bar S Ranch. Delicious homemade bread and cookies provided for all of our guests.

My friend and I took our moms out to Utah for a mother-daughter vacation, and we had the most incredible time! The parks in Zion and Utah are must sees and having our own beautiful house to come back to each day really made the experience memorable. The property was even better than advertised and was very comfortable for the four of us. I would highly recommend staying here!

The Perfect Choice!

Our family of six, including 2 kids and 2 grandparents stayed here while visiting Utah for the first time. The location is indeed perfect. We visited Zion, Bryce and Cedar Breaks and found that we were less than an hour from each destination; this allowed us to visit the parks more than once, and you really need to go to Zion more than once!! The home is immaculate (just the way I like it) and had plenty of space and comforts. And the scenery at the cabin is gorgeous! Tracy, the owner, is extremely nice and was so helpful when our trip was in jeopardy due to the government shutdown. St. George is about an hour and 45 minutes away, but an awesome place to ride ATVs at ATV & Jeep Adventure Tours. Our 15 year old could ride an ATV alone, as did the adults; our 11 year old drove with a guide on the back and the grandparents drove a RAZR. The scenery is spectacular, the trails rugged but very manageable (even for the grandparents!) and the day was unbelievably amazing!! You will love staying at this home; there's lots of play space outside and a great hiking hill out back. As we drove around all week we realized we definitely chose the best house in the best location!! Also, Aunt Sue's Cafe is super good; it's not far, about 20 minutes from the cabin. They have awesome sandwiches and giant banana splits! And Houston's in Kanab is a great place for enormous pancakes and omelets! While at Houston's, Glazier's market is the best place to pick up groceries. Do highly consider renting this home; you will not be disappointed! Thanks again Tracy!! We will be back!

All the previous reviews were very accurate and helpful! The property is very well maintained and just as clean and beautiful as the pictures. All the driving distances were accurate and very scenic which made the drive themselves worthwhile. The bread and cookies left out by the owner were very yummy and the kids loved the cookies.

Even with the National Parks closed due to the government shutdown, there was still plenty of exploring to do over 5 full days. We explored with our 4 kids (ages 7, 5, 3, and 6 months) and my parents (age 66). The highlights, in order of fun/memories, are

1. Red Canyon -- you get up close and personal on nice easy hikes around the hoodoos. http://www.americantrails.org/nationalrecreationtrails/trailNRT/Red-Canyon-Trail-USFS-UT.html

2. Cascade Falls -- the view from the hike is great, while the actual falls should not really be the focus of the hike. http://geology.utah.gov/surveynotes/geosights/cascade_falls.htm

3. Red Hollow Canyon -- This was a very fun canyon for beginners (i.e. no equipment needed). It is just east of the town of Orderville. http://www.zionnational-park.com/east-zion-red-hollow.htm

4. Mammoth Cave -- This was a blast for the kids to explore with flashlights. http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1626527

5. Elkhart Canyon -- This one was a bit tough to find, even with a GPS. http://www.americansouthwest.net/slot_canyons/elkhart-cliffs/canyon.html

Every night we enjoyed the awesome sunset reflecting off of the rock face to the east while a dozen deer fed on the grass in front yard.

Property is just as the pictures show. It is very clean. It was 1 mile off the road so you don't hear any highway noise, but is easy to get to the highway.

Relaxing Week

My wife and I are retired and travel by car all around North America. We spend most nights in hotels, rented condos, houses or with friends and relatives. We wanted a roomy place between Zion and Bryce and found this wonderful ranch house in Alton, UT. Less than an hour from Zion to the south east and Bryce to the north west. Spent some days just relaxing on the porch, watching the hummingbirds, cattle and an occasional deer. View is of meadows, a lake and near hills and faraway mountains and cliffs. A mile from the highway with no visible neighbors, relaxing is easy. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, except of course, the food. Excellent laundry room. WIFI throughout the house is great. Lots of space. We highly recommend. Description and Pics were accurate.
