We really enjoyed our stay. The locatin was perfect. There is a metro stop, neighborhood market and loads of restaurants nearby. The beds were comfortable. We are a family of four we fit fine. The living space is small but that is typical in NY.
Apartment as listed, if not better. Host was very accommodating, & locations was better than expected, close to shops, restaurants & transport.
Highly recommend this location & host.
Unsere Jungs waren jedenfalls sehr zufrieden!
My friends and I spent 7 days in apartment and were very pleased with not just the apartment, but the location and the amenities as well. The kitchen and bathroom (that has to sinks )was nicely updated, and the beds were comfortable. Owner was very pleasant to deal with, always available with recommendations and ideas, and very accomodating in general. With only 3 blocks to the subway, the location was perfect for us.
My husband and I stayed in the apartment for 5 days. It has some pros and cons.
The pros are that it is quiet, in a good neighborhood, is convenient to public transit and has nearby grocery stores, wine shops, etc. The bed was comfortable.
The cons are that the apartment needs some maintenance and general attention. First, it needs new paint. The paint was worn and plaster was broken off the corners of some of the walls and the corners of the pillar in the middle of the apartment. It makes the apartment look cheap and unsightly.
The toilet in the bathroom is so jammed in between the bathtub and wall it is difficult to sit on.
The towels in the bathroom were thin and stained. Few of them matched.
There were no dishtowels at all in the kitchen. It was hard to dry pots and pans with paper towels and we shouldn't have had to.
There were 3 champagne glasses; no wine glasses.
The coffee table and breakfast/dining table were wobbly.
When we arrived the bed only had a bottom sheet. We added the top sheet folded up in the closet but it was so thin we could see through it.
The indoor-outdoor type rugs were stained and some were turned up on the end which caused us each to trip over them.
The lighting was poor due to the use of cold toned florescent light bulbs. We recommend that the owners purchase warm toned florescent or warm toned LED light bulbs if they want to save energy - it would make the atmosphere more inviting and no one would look like a cadaver.
We would not recommend this place without upgrades to all of the cons mentioned above.
Stayed here with my husband and 2 adult daughters for 2 weeks in February 2013. The street is in a safe, quiet, residential area. The apartment is exactly as the photos show. It is modern and clean and light and airy. And quiet. The living room with the sofa beds is very large and 4 adults had plenty of room and there are adequate closets if you want to unpack. Kitchen has everything you need although we only did breakfasts there. The central heating was just the right temperature. Local family who visited said it would be cool in summer too. As is often the case with steam heating in older apartments it makes clanging noises as it switches on, but we did not hear it after a few days. If you are a light sleeper you need to be aware of this. Bathroom is huge with a bath, shower and 2 basins. The TV and fast wi-fi work just fine. The owner was friendly and always responded quickly and helpfully. The location is excellent. The subway is a 6 minute walk and we also used nearby buses and taxis. There are numerous restaurants, bars, pastry shop(!), pharmacy and large supermarket very close. And shopping on E86th. I recommend this for your stay in NY. It was perfect for our needs.
