This tastefully renovated 900 sq. ft. 2 bedroom apt has central air conditioning and is on the 1st floor of a historic house on a landmarked block. It has a private entrance, and windows that face a charming brick paved street. It is furnished with 1 queen bed, 1 full bed, and one pull-out trundle bed, accommodating up to 4 adults and 1 child.

There is a flat-screen TV/DVD player in the living room, an iPhone/iPod docking station/alarm clock, a dining room with a large farm table and seating for 6, a large, sunny windowed kitchen that comes equipped with a microwave, filtered water dispenser, coffeemaker, food processor, blender, Bosch dishwasher, 4 burner Bosch range, all necessary cookware & gadgets and a large Bosch washer/dryer in the unit.

There is also a writing desk with an Apple computer with hi-speed internet for your convenience, as well as WiFi for those who bring their own devices. For your convenience, we also have installed a safe in your apartment.

This place was a gem we found. It has that old school feel with newly updated appliances. It was a great place for our small family reunion. The owner was amazing even accommodated us. I can't wait to come back again.

Everything they say it is and more

We loved this place, I have rented a few places in NY and this one is on the top of my list, Its furnished very well and we felt secure. I love the keyless entry and being able to re-program it. I read the other's post on here and everything they said is true in addition to the owners response. I wont repeat everything others have said but being able to sit on the back and enjoy a pear from the neighbor's tree was fantastic, also a quick walk to the corner deli every morning for a breakfast sandwich and coffee was a treat. The apt is fully furnished but I enjoyed their coffee and the people in the deli is so nice. I slept in the 2nd bed room and my buddy in the main bed we were both very comfortable. I didn't have any issues with the house so I didn't have to call anyone. The reference book is great with listing for everything from food services (some deliver)to car services. I used one of the car services they listed and they were very professional. My back went out and I didn't feel like taking the train to Newark. it was reasonably priced. If you love New York and don't mind a short walk to the subway this is a perfect place, Lastly there is plenty hot water and having the washer and dryer keeps you from having to pack to much. It is an old building but kept very well. I loved this place and will return. Eating wasn't an issue there are plenty places to eat if you like Chinese, Hispanic, Deli, Donut shop and a variety of others. Grocery and drug stores are close too. They utilize space very well.

Perfect base for a NYC trip

The description of this property is entirely accurate - clean, well equipped, comfortable and quiet. Yes, this is a ground floor apartment with an apartment above, so you will hear a certain amount of creaking of floorboards from above, but unless you are super-sensitive this is a non-issue - there are always sounds in cities - cars, trains, aircraft, dogs, birds... even the breeze in the trees. Where we live the tree-frogs disturb us more than any noise in this apartment

We like to cook our own meals and require a fully stocked kitchen, this checked all the boxes.

The neighbourhood - totally friendly and safe-feeling. Mostly families with young children, Spanish-speaking and English-speaking families. There is a fairly large hospital next to the subway station which always has people milling around, so its never that creepy or quiet even after midnight. Walking with our 9-year old never felt unnatural or unsafe.

The walk to the subway is easy, straight down the street 7 or 8 minutes, then one block left or right.

This property is definitely for a family city-break, due to the close proximity of the bedrooms, and the raised 'bed in the wall' is a great boon to younger children.

Our routine was basically: breakfast at the apartment, walk to the subway, 20 mins to Union Square, the day in Manhattan, return, cook dinner and relax. No issues and a good stay.

Lovely apartment

Our family of 3 recently spent 5 nights at this apt. on our trip to NYC. This is a lovely and CLEAN apartment. We loved the layout (esp kitchen) and our 11yr old loved the "bed in the wall"! :-) We have done many VRBO rentals and this was certainly top of the list. One of the unexpected surprises were the great views/perspective of Manhatten that you can see walking home and looking towards the city on the cross streets. Great views both day and night. Re: night, the area felt very safe and has many professional offices / hospital etc enroute home. The owners could not have been more responsive to our querries. Upon arrival one question arose and after texting Azi he was there within 5 minutes!
We loved the feeling of "getting away" from the city at the end of the day and back to a "home". The downside for us was ours days were long as once we left in the morning we did not return until end of day.(45 minutes from apt. to Penn Station). The best deal is to get a subway pass with unlimited use. For a one week pass it was only $31. There is a grocery store about 2 minutes from the unit and numerous other convenience stores. The immediate area has very few opportunities for dining and we just stayed in the city for eating. However, Azi did mention an area one subway stop earlier which has more to offer. Having access to a computer was a wonderful feature!

The only CON for this apt. is the reality of staying in an older (1908) home. If you are a light sleeper, the noise in the hallway with other residents coming and going usually for us between 1am - 4am, is quite loud due to the old hardwood etc. and running up and down the stairs. The noise was NOT from partying etc. just regular coming and goings however due to the setup quite loud in the rental unit. Not sure what can be done here? Just a reality of an old building.
Overall we were very pleased with our "home away from home" and had it been warmer we would have taken advantage of the backyard and picnic table! :-)

I just wanted to address the minor concerns you had- firstly, although it is true the dining options in this neighborhood are certainly not as bountiful as other areas of the city, the area is steadily growing and new restaurants are popping up every day. The apartment is equipped with a guest welcome binder which includes over a dozen restaurants within walking distance - and we only include restaurants which we really like. Secondly, in regards to your problem with noise - thank you for bringing this to our attention! The upstairs guests during your stay were 2 lovely young men who work as chefs in a restaurant nearby (thus the late-night hallway activity) and were staying for a month while they set up their new apartment - this is really an exception to the rule, as most of our guests are fellow tourists who are on daytime schedules. With that said, we will be sure to be more vigilant about asking guests to be mindful of noise. Thanks again and take care!

i cannot speak highly enough about this place. everything was very clean upon arrival. the kitchen was fully stocked with modern appliances and everything needed to prepare and cook meals. the living room/bedrooms were beautiful and simple. no problems with noise. located in a family friendly neighborhood. overall best vrbo experience i've had. thanks again and look forward to staying again next year.

Straddling the neighborhoods of Bushwick, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens, the apartment is 5 blocks away from the Dekalb Street 'L' train station in Brooklyn—one of the best subway lines in the city. Union Square, the heart of downtown Manhattan, is only 15 minutes away via a direct subway ride; Williamsburg, Brooklyn's stylish boutiques, bars and restaurants are only a 7 minute train ride away.

Ours is a quieter, more residential neighborhood, but it is in an exciting stage of growth. In the last 5 years there has been a huge influx of artists and creatives in our immediate area. As a result, there is now a solid (and rapidly growing) number of stylish cafes, restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, yoga studios, and a great 24-hour gourmet/organic grocery store all within a 10-12 minute walk from the apartment. There are also local Italian bakeries, Halal butcher shops, Equadorian bodegas, Polish food markets and the best tasting Mexican tamales we've ever come across. All relevant information can be found in our Guest Welcome binder in the apartment and we hope that you will explore these local gems during your visit.

  • In this suite, both bedrooms are on one side of the apartment. The master bedroom is furnished with a queen bed. It has two doors, the first of which leads to the exterior hallway of the apartment. The second door leads to the second bedroom, which is furnished with a full bed (and an additional pull-out twin bed if needed). The second bedroom has another door which leads to the living room/kitchen/bathroom. So both bedrooms have privacy, however in order to reach the common areas of the apartment from the master bedroom, one must either go through the exterior hallway or through the second bedroom.
