Hi, We're Ed and Margaret Pavey. We had been traveling to the Upper Peninsula for many years to enjoy boating, snowmobiling, and both downhill and cross country skiing. In l994 we retired to the UP to enjoy all of our hobbies and even finding a few more. Retirement has kept us busy trying to keep up with the Yoopers.! Wonderful people. We decided to rent our guest house during the summer months in 2011. We had guests from as far away as Texas, Florida, Germany and China. It was a pleasure to share our cottage. We are looking forward to another fun summer in 2014. We are not youngsters any more but are still young at heart. Have been active in the Lion's Club, Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club and Les Cheneaux Arts Council. Ed was honored as the Les Cheneaux Lions Club's 'Lion of the Year' in 2013.

Ed & Margaret Pavey purchased this cottage in 1986

As an elderly neighbor once described the area as 'The Les Cheneaux Islands being the closest place to Paradise on this earth.' We still believe this to be true. Every day is like viewing a new painting as the days and seasons change. Cedarville is a friendly community and everyone is always willing to help others. The summer residents are all part of the 'family.' We reside in Clark Township. In the winter months the population is approx. 2000 while the summer population increases to approx. 8,000. Families return year after year to enjoy our great outdoors. We always felt that we were on vacation as soon as we crossed the great Mackinac Bridge.

Some of the benefits while staying at our property are calm waters within the Islands for kayaking, boating, jet skiing, fishing and swimming. There is also hiking, biking, sightseeing, our new library, art classes, community activities such as parades, annual boat show, art exhibits, museums, dinners by various clubs and many restaurants to visit. Of couse, one can also remain on the property and just relax and watch the wild life and the world go by.

Also, we have a large supermarket in town so there is no need to bring bags and bags of groceries from home. Lots more room in your car for playthings. We also have several gift shops, restaurants, gas stations, marina and hardware stores. Our local library has computers for use.

Excellent!

This was a great cottage in a great location and Ed and Margaret were great hosts. Plenty of outdoor activity followed by dinner at an area restaurant and sunset by the water each evening made this an excellent week. The cottage (small home really) had everything you might need, including laundry room, to make it a fantastic home base for hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, fishing and sight-seeing (all of which we did, including visits to Mackinaw Island, Taqhaumenan Falls, Soo locks, etc).

Review of the Pavey Guest House

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at the Pavey's guest house. Mr. and Mrs. Pavey are wonderful hosts, very helpful, but respected our privacy as well. The location is fabulous. We brought our 23 ft boat and were are to dock just fine. Kayaking is great around the islands. We plan to return next year!

Beautiful Property

Loved our stay at the Pavey Cottage! Cottage was very comfortable & clean. Owners were very accomadating & friendly. Welcomed us warmly & gave us area information. Loved the special touch of fresh fruit & water! Enjoyed the private setting & watching all the wildlife (deer) each morning & evening. Cottage had everything you would need. We took our 19ft boat & enjoyed all the islands. Great dock setup. Our grandkids loved the well maintained yard to run & play. Truely a home away from home!

Owner's Response: Your review was much appreciated. Ed and I continue to strive to provide our renters a vacation to remember! We take pride in our rental by the cleanliness and the "manicured lawn" which both adults and children enjoy. Renters welcome the extra amenities such as a fruit basket, water and soda, linens provided as well as charcoal for the grills. No need to lug all of the above from home. Our guest book is filled with thanks for all of the above.

Like you and your family, our renters have been the greatest which makes renting a happy experience for all.

CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE COTTAGE WITH EVERTHING WE NEEDED AND MORE. NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE. THE OWNERS FELT LIKE FAMILY. VERY NICE PEOPLE AND EVER SO GRACIOUS. I RESERVED IT FOR NEXT YEAR. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE RESTAURANT ANG-GIOS FOR BREAKFAST. AND BUY SOME JILBERT'S MILK AT THE LOCAL GROCERY STORE....MMMM DELICIOUS. JUST BE WARNED THEY ARE NOT OPEN ON SUNDAY.

We just returned from the Pavey house and miss the peace and tranquility! It was the perfect place to enjoy tthe clear, bountiful waterways, the wildlife, and the beautiful views. We were really lucky fishing, as well.
Ed and Margaret are the perfect hosts; they thought of everything! The house has everything you could need and then some. They gave us a warm welcome then left us to our privacy. It was nice to know they were close-by should be need anything. We hope to return next year, but stay longer!
