''IL GIGLIO'' is a very elegant apartment located in ''Del Giglio Street'', at the corner with ''Panzani Street'', in historical palace Bartolini-Salimbeni-Vivai, belonged to one of the most aristocratic families in Florence. The apartment is only five minutes walk from the Main Central Station SMN, as well the Church of Santa Maria Novella and the Duomo, with the Giotto's belltower, visible also from the window of the living room.
The Central Market of S. Lorenzo, Piazza Signoria,Ponte Vecchio and all the main attractions are only 10- 15 minutes away by foot.
The apartment has been recently finely restored, with ancient style marble mosaic floors and beamed ceilings, and offer high standard of furniture ( mostly antiques ). Being on the fourth floor (without elevator) the apartment is very light, bright and quiet.
It is composed by a large double bedroom with window and skylight, one full bathroom with shower and a very large living-dining room with kitchen area and double sofa bed. Baby bed or crib are available on request.
At your arrival you will be welcomed with one basket of fresh fruit, one bottle of Chianti wine and other kinds of food for breakfast.
Il Giglio is your perfect Florence apartment. I will make this very simple and list all the reasons. 1) The location couldn't be more convenient; everything is a quick walk away. 2) The apartment is very secure, with a heavy, quickly locking door to the building and a bolted and double locked front door, perfect for a woman staying alone like me. 2) The apartment itself is very clean, comfortable, prettily decorated, bright, and airy. 3) AC in every room! 4) It has a good strong shower with a glass door (another must for me, hard to find in Europe). 5) And it has a washer AND dryer, another rarity. 6) The owners were easy to communicate with, met me on time, helped me with my luggage up the steps, and patiently explained every little operation of the apartment. They left a bottle of wine, food, and stocked the apartment with lots of thoughtful extra items like soaps and new slippers. Angela even explained to me how to make espresso!!! 7) Do be aware that this apartment is on the fourth (or maybe fifth) floor of a very old building with no elevator. You will walk the steps. I consider this to be a plus after all the wonderful food and wine in Florence. If you are lucky enough to find availability, you will be happy to rent this wonderful apartment.
What a great apartment and what a great owner. Me, my wife, and the two kids (10 and 6) had a lot of fun here. Great location - close to the train station and Duomo. Apartment was very artistically decorated and with all necessities. The owner was so helpful - helped us carry the luggages, made sure that there was milk and breakfast related stuff in the refrigerator. On top of it, she was understanding to let us keep our luggage's in her apartment till our train which was departing later in the evening. Because of her, our stay in Florence was fabulous. Thank you Angela and Andrea.
What a beautiful apartment! We loved the space and location of this apartment. The owner and her daughter met us at the apartment (the daughter helped me with my suitcase up the stairs!) and showed us where everything was. She left us a gift basket of wine, crackers, cookies etc! Very thoughtful. Everything we wanted to see and do was walking distance. Very Italian!!! Thank you for a great place to stay.
This apartment is right in the center of Florence with short walking distances to any tourist attraction: Duomo, Ufizzi Gallery, S.Croce, Galleria de Academia, and others! It is located near fantastic restaurants: Ciro & Sons (wonderful pizza), Trattoria La Madia (fantastic wine and steaks), etc. Apartment is very clean and has all necessary amenities! Angela, the owner of this apartment, met us when we arrived, showed us around the apartment, and welcomed us with basket full of wine, pasta, coffee, cookies, bread, and jam! She was very friendly, recommended us places to eat, gave us maps of the city with main points of interest, and gave us her contact information if we had any questions. Thank you Angela for being so kind and helpful! We truly enjoyed our stay! We would love to come back to Florence and stay at your apartment again!!!!
I stayed in this apartment for 4 nights in May of 2014.
It is very conveniently located. It's within 5-min walking distance from the train station and within walking distance of all attractions of the old city. You will have all the amenities for a good rest and relaxation. Despite being strategically located the apartment is very quiet. The photos give a very good idea how it looks - it is quite spacious and luminous. However, beware that the apartment is located of the 4th floor in case getting up the stairs is a problem for you.
Angela, the owner, is a gracious host who give you all the information you need for your pleasant stay. Without a reservation, I would recommend this apartment to anyone. I hope next time when I visit Firenze, I can stay here.
The location of the apartment was wonderful. It was just a five minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. The immediate area had restaurants, a small grocery store and the wonderful Mercato Centrale. The Medici Chapel was just a block away and the Duomo was an easy 10 minute walk.
We were greeted by the owner, Angela, and her daughter. They helped us with our luggage and showed us around the apartment. There was a lovely welcome basket and a bottle of wine. The apartment was beautifully decorated and had a very homey feeling. When we opened the windows in the morning, we could hear the nearby church bells. It was heavenly.
Thank you, Angela. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is fortunate enough to visit Florence!
