This charming, waterfront cottage sits on private Sagamore Beach in Sandwich, Massachusetts complete with a path through the dunes. The cottage has 4 bedrooms (one king, 2 queens and one bedroom with twin-over-full bunk beds). The updated kitchen features all stainless steel appliances. Since most of summer living is done outside, this home features a wide, 35-foot long deck and private sand basin for little tykes. Surrounded by eel grass, the deck is a private, picturesque retreat.
From the cottage deck you can see the Cape Cod Canal to the right and the White Cliffs of Plymouth to the left. The cottage resides on a dead end road open to residents and guests only. It is perfect for walking or riding your bike to the Canal to watch the ships come in. Find sea glass on the private beach and make new memories. Whether the tide is low or high, this private beach will truly make you feel like you have found paradise.
As a repeat renter, I knew what to expect. Great house, plenty of room, private location, the sandbar and more. This time we took my parents. Mom was concerned dad might "need" a television. The only thing he needed was the mini-deck on top of the dune to watch the ocean. Every morning you knew where dad would be. As regular beach people, they have seen plenty of places to compare this to. This appeared to rank right at the top for both of them. As I stated in a previous review, the proximity to all things "touristy" makes it convenient. However, you are still far enough away from the chaos that Cape Cod in the summer can be. We had 4 adults and a 10 and 11 year old. There was plenty of room. Adding 2 more adults would be easy. The bottom line is if you want to truly relax, enjoy the beach and avoid the Cape Cod chaos, this is that place.
Our two weeks spent in Parker Cottage were pure relaxation! The weather was cool and breezy some days and warm enough to swim on some days, and it only rained a couple of nights. The cottage is Cape-Cod-charming and comfortable...exactly as we imagined a beach house should be. It felt so cozy, yet spacious and we were right at home. The TV downstairs has its own seating area and is away from the central living space - out of sight, out of mind, which we loved. The beach got all of the attention it deserved! The beds were comfortable, the towels, linens and quilts were perfect, and the kitchen was very well appointed, which we appreciated because once we were there, we never wanted to leave! We walked the sand bar and the beach several times a day, picking up sand dollars and spotting sea stars and hermit crabs. Sitting up on the mini-deck with our cocktails was a favorite activity, and the sunsets and moonrises were magnificent. At high tide, we enjoyed seeing the boats and barges entering the canal, and a cruise ship went through one evening that was quite a sight! The beach had soft sand and some rocky areas to cross to get to the lovely sand bar. There was a cleared path in the rocks that stayed pretty clear during the time we were there. Off-season visitors should be sure to call ahead to restaurants, as many places reduce their hours in September. We were so glad to have booked two weeks! We were pretty relaxed after the first week, but by the second week the cottage and location had really worked some magic on us! Shannon was so accommodating and helpful. We can't wait to get back again.
We absolutely loved the cottage! We had everything we needed and felt very much at home. We were hoping for rest and relaxation and that is exactly what we had! Shannon (property owner) was great to work with and so quick to respond to all of my questions. We will definitely be back!
We stayed a week at this lovely cottage and couldn't have been happier. Shannon was great to work with and the home provided everything we needed. My family owned a summer home on this very street many years ago so to return with my own husband and children and make new memories was incredible to me. There is so much to do here and yet you can be happy doing nothing as well. This section of the beach is quite rocky, which I love to look at, but makes for rough going to get to the sandbar at low tide. But SO worth it, the sandbar is awesome! Our favorite part of the day to go run, write in the sand, take pictures, hunt for treasures, etc. My only regret about our week at this home is that we needed two weeks! We spent so much time just hanging out at the cottage that we needed another week to spend exploring more of Cape Cod. Thank you Shannon for providing such a perfectly beachy Cape Cod-ish home for my family.
For many years now, I’ve known that Sagamore Beach is the best kept secret on Cape Cod. Sagamore is a private beach that overlooks Cape Cod Bay and is bordered by the Cape Cod Canal on one side. My family loves to watch large ships enter and exit the canal. We also love the sandbar that extends nearly the entire length of the beach at low tide. We watch our young grandchildren play in the small tidal pools created as the tide recedes. In addition to this beach being a jewel, we have also discovered Parker Cottage. This cottage lives comfortable enough for our whole family, but quaint enough where you get the true Cape cottage feel. The owners have done an amazing job decorating each room and appointing the entire cottage with everything from up-to-date appliances to new mattresses to fine linens. And, of course, we love the decks at Parker Cottage. The deck outside the door is so large, perfect for messy lobster dinners and late day naps. The upper deck is nestled among the dunes and is the perfect—and I mean perfect—spot for gazing out at the bay, watching kites fly or catching up with a dear friend. We have already booked again for next year, making it the fourth year in a row my family will wallow in the relaxation that is Parker Cottage.
I didn't want to leave. The cottage is so relaxing and the beach is perfect!
Wonderful family vacation! We had beautiful weather and enjoyed the beach. My two-year old daughter LOVED playing in the sand area right off the back deck. The cottage was extremely clean, beautifully decorated and fully stocked! The listing description was 100% accurate and the owner was so quick to get back to me with all of the questions I had. It was very inviting and you very easily were able to make yourselves at home. We enjoyed the beach, shopping around town and in the surrounding towns as well as the trampolines and the Zoo-Quarium in Yarmouth. Joe's was the best place, and close to the cottage, to get some lobsters which made for a great family dinner. We were there for the 4th of the July and had the pleasure of watching the spectacular fireworks right from our deck! I would highly recommend this property to anyone!
