A visit to Boca Grande on Gasprilla Island will reward you with a unique respite from the crowded, traffic-congested, high rise experience that many vacation spots offer. Some guests who have enjoyed it call it Florida's Paradise Island, and return yearly.
Sea Oats is an immculately kept small beach-side condominium complex on the North end of Gasparilla Island, which is located on the Gulf, midway between Fort Meyers and Sarasota. This 8-mile long island is accessible by bridge, and on the South end contains the quaint village of Boca Grande, with unique shops, boutiques and restaurants. The drive onto the island will suprise you with a breathtaking view of the gulf with its deep sky-blue color. A bicycle path extends the length of the island. There are no high rise buildings and little traffic. The beach is broad and beautiful with white sand, is great for shelling and surf fishing, and is never crowded, even in high season.
The island is located at the outlet of Charlotte Harbor, where Boca Grande pass is world famous for tarpon fishing. A variety of game fish can also be found among the numerous beautiful mangrove islands in Charlotte Harbor itself. Rental fishing boats and guides, and rental private boats are available on and just off island. Several golf courses are nearby off island and excellent shopping is convenient in Port Charlotte 15 minutes away.
The island has a widespread reputation as a pleasant, quiet resort, and Sea Oats is located next to the prestigious Boca Grande Club. In the past, prominent guests, such as the Bush family, Richard Nixon or Katherine Hepburn have been spotted in local shops.
Apartment 324, due to its corner location on the 3rd (top) floor, is bright, sunny and quiet. The front rooms and porches overlook both the courtyard (which is beautiflully landscaped) and the beach. You can relax with a drink on one of the two porches and enjoy a spectacular view of the sun setting over the gulf, possibly even catching the famous green flash as it dips below the horizon. (Some say that this depends a bit on the drink.), The master bedroom has a kingsized bed and the guest bedroom two twin beds. There is a double sofa bed in the living room. Large side windows in the living room and the master bedroom overlook Charlotte Harbor to the East, allowing for a pleasant view of the sunrise, as well.
The aprtment is tastefully furnished, including many prints of paintings by local artists. The kitchen is fully equipped and a second table in the living area serves as a dining, gaming or writing table. You can seat as many as twelve for entertaining. The kitchen and baths have been recently renovated and appliances have been updated, all walls recently painted and the flooring refurbished with new carpeting and tile flooring. An assigned covered parking spot is spacious and paved. Common facilities include a pool, hot tub, tennis courts, barbewue grills, parking for electric golf carts and a common lounge/meeting area. A manager is available on site full time.
