The beautiful, non-crowded beach is directly across the street from this well-appointed 5 bedroom home. Friday to Friday rental. You won't miss sitting in hours of traffic on Saturday. Start and end your vacation with a full weekend.
With ocean and sound views, VIRGINIA DARE has all the necessities for a great vacation. Many repeat guests love that they have everything they need to relax in our home. Yet many popular activities and sights are just a short ride away.
The first floor boasts a game room with a pool table where everyone can have hours of fun, bedroom with two sets of bunks, a half bath, bar & wine refrigerators and the entrance to the private heated (optional) pool and sun deck. Relax at the pool and listen to your favorite tunes from the superior sound system where volume is controlled on pool deck.
The second floor has three ocean-side bedrooms with sliding-glass doors to large east and south decks and bubbly six-person hot tub. The first bedroom has two twins, the second one a queen. The third bedroom is a master suite with a king and private bath. A second full bath and laundry room are located on this level along with a quiet area with desk for one who needs to keep in touch with business while away.
Dine in the third-level, ocean view, great room with tall ceilings, 42' flat screen TV, south and east decks, half bath, wet bar with second full size refrigerator with second icemaker, breakfast bar, chef-appointed kitchen, and seating for 16. Located off the comfortably and creatively furnished great room is a fifth, ocean view, master bedroom with a king, private bath and deck access.
Sun worshipers will love the miles of decks and loads of deck furniture. Enjoy music from the extensive sound system while swimming in the pool or relaxing in the hot tub.
Before or after the hectic pace of the summer, take advantage of the spring and fall months. The water temperatures are warm and rates are low. April and May and September and October are some the prettiest months on the Outer Banks with a slower pace.
We think you will agree, VIRGINIA DARE is the FIRST LADY OF THE COAST.
The Pino Family
We have been vacationing on the Outer Banks of NC for almost 30 years.
Joe visited the OBX as a teenager with a neighbor camping in Salvo. He loved it then and came back to fish throughout college.
We returned with our two young children in the mid 1980's first renting and then owning a small cottage on Ocracoke.
In 2000 we looked for additional rental property, selecting Avon for it's good beach and quiet neighborhood. The town of Avon has just enough business to meet our guests needs with Outlet Malls, area attractions and historical sites just a short drive away,
Our children are now adults and have never missed family vacations on the OBX even thru their college years.
With the addition of our first grandchild last year our tradition will continue thru the next generation.
Sherry & Joe Pino purchased this house in 2000
In 2012 we have gone Rent By Owner. You deal directly with us the owners, no realty whose reservationists have most likely never even seen the home.
We provide you with premier housekeeping complete with conceirge services.
Our home is well appointed. We use our home and have equipped with what families need to be able to cook, relax and have fun.
Virginia Dare with ocean views, sounds and smells from both our decks is like ocean front without the cost. A less than 2 minute leisurely walk puts you on the beach. Summed up by a guest's comment, they loved that they never had to leave for entertainment.
The addtion of permanently installed wooden gates on our outside decks as well as the stairwell on the upper level Great Room has proven to be very be very handy for corraling little ones and dogs. Reversed living provides fabulous views. But adds the challenge of keeping our little ones safe. Our interior gate eliiminates that worry.
We had a great time at Cape Hatteras this week and your house was perfect. We have attached some photos of our kids Erin and Alex and dog Maizey having fun at your house. We will be back next June.

My family's favorite vacation spot is the Outer Banks and we have stayed at many houses on Hatteras over the years. Our stay at Virginia Dare was the result of learning about VRBO and I will never go back to going through realtors. Working with Sherry to schedule our stay was so nice - much better to make plans with a person and not a business. In addition, when we were in the house, we felt more like we were at a "friend's" house and appreciated how much their love of the house came through in all the careful attention to details, family pictures and great amenities. Of course, the closeness to the beach, shopping and pool and hot tub were all spectacular and what we've always looked for in a house. We will definitely stay at Virginia Dare again - it will be nice to come "home" to a familiar house in summers to come.
We just got back from our week at Virginia Dare and I must say it was spectacular.
The house was beautiful and had everything you could possibly want or need.
We have older kids and they loved the pool and how close the beach was.
Everyone wants to go back next year and I believe we will. Thanks to Joe& Sherry
We had been planning this family reunion for over a year. Like many people who do not live on the East Coast, I picked this house at random. I cannot tell you how lucky my choice was! The owners of this property were extremely helpful in all of the arrival coordination, highly responsive to email inquiries, and provided a wealth of information to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. The house was fantastic as well. The pool was perfect for the kids (9-13), the hot tub was a big hit, and the pool table on the bottom floor was used often. They have an outdoor shower for getting cleaned off before entering the house, the decks are wrap around for great views, and the upstairs kitchen/family room is spacious and well laid out. You can walk to the grocery store, dollar store, and grab a bite to eat in less than 10 minutes. You can also get to the beach with a very short walk along the raised path and be in the water before you know it. The owners were also very responsive to any issues that came up during our stay and had a maintenance team show up the same day. I will absolutely return to the Outer Banks and won't risk staying with anyone else. I hope this review is enough to help you choose this property because you won't be disappointed!
First of all this three level house is very large. We arrived and the house was clean. Sherry was very responsive and helpful for information on the area. Even though it's one row back it still has a nice view. Our family had a wonderful trip and we would stay here again!
We were running the Flying Pirate Half Marathon and wanted a house that was family friendly. This home was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked....and we were able to prepare
This was our first time in Avon....we normally stay in the Kitty Hawk area. Avon was perfect little beach town! The pier and ice cream parlor were within walking distance.
What a wonderful stay we had on our mini vacation. The house was easily located off the main street and the house was exactly everything the owner said it was. We had 3 children in our party and they loved bunking in the bunk beds on the lower level which they had all to themselves. They even had their own bathroom. The same level had a great pool table for the guys and also a tv and a mini fridge for our beers which was a nice surprise.
The next level of the house contained 3 bedrooms which were well sized and had batbrooms either en suite or in the hallway. They also led out to the huge deck where a fantastic hot tub was located. Each room had a tv although we barely used them as we all stayed mainly in the upper main level in the living room.
The living room was huge and had plenty of seating with a great big tv, dvd player and even a wii. It had a nice big kitchen, tables, an extra sink and pretty much anything else we needed.
Overall I would highly recommend this place to stay. Plenty of parking and literally a one minute walk to a great beach. The owner was also very gracious and even allowed us to check in earlier than the stated 4pm arrival.
Will definitely consider coming back here next year :)
