Cooking and Housekeeping in BamBoo House is including in the rate everyday....

BamBoo House is A Uniquely Spacious & Stylish San Pedro Villa built by a French designer.

If you’re looking for great deal on island accommodations, this is it. In addition to 6 bedrooms & 5 private baths, BamBoo House also features multiple elegant indoor/outdoor common living areas your family and friends will love! From generous 2nd and 3rd floor decks, perfect for sunbathing, enjoy far-reaching Panoramic Views of the Lagoon and San Pedro Town, as well as a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea & Barrier Reef from the inviting terrace of the third floor Master Bedroom Suite.

With no building less than 200 feet away, Bamboo House will feel like a secluded getaway. Yet, you will quickly appreciate how near it still is to all the magic of Town life, starting with Legend’s Jam night, or Molly Malones bar & restaurant or Pirate's Treasure bar & restaurant less than 2 minutes away by foot and the center of town less than 5 minutes away by golf cart. In the day-time, a short walk down the beach (which sits 300ft directly in front of the villa) can take you to “renew your spirit” Akbol Yoga retreat or for a drink on the sea at PALAPA Bar & Grill.

Get away from it all while staying in complete touch with internet access and 3 flat screen plasma cable TV’s. Bring your CD's or iPods and enjoy all your favorite music with the iPod ready stereo system in the spacious living room, perfectly audible from the Deck & Plunge Pool on the second floor. Or, for a more natural experience, fish from the ground floor deck while your family lounges in hammocks & daybeds under the Palapa nearby and the caretaker stands ready to barbecue your catch.

Bamboo House offers both common & uncommon conveniences including housekeeping, in house cook, day-time golf cart pick up & drop off in town, bicycles, and villa staff who are always around but never over bearing. We also assist guests with arranging discount tours all over the country, allowing you to just focus on having a great time!

Amazing Family Time

  • 5 of 5

We decide to take our annual vacation in Belize this August. My family and I definitely enjoyed it. We stayed at the Bamboo House villa and had an amazing experience. It is the place to be especially if you want to experience the real natural feel of Belize on an island. It was a home away from home for us. When we arrived, the Cook Camila had surprised us with some shrimp ceviche, Belizean stew chicken and coconut rice which were delicious. Yvette the new property manager showed us our rooms and the layout of the villa, while Edwin the grounds manager took our luggage to the rooms we chose to stay. Everyone there was so welcoming and most helpful to us. The rooms were cleaned every day by the house keeper. Edwin would take some of us in town once a day on Bamboo House golf cart to get whatever we need, and sometimes we would use the bicycles and ride around to get a better feel of the island. The grounds were beautiful with white sand that you can walk around barefoot. The security at Bamboo House was more than enough, especially since we had small kids. The pool is located on the second floor deck that is ten feet high and the Palapa on the first floor was perfect to sit under and enjoy the view of the lagoon. When we were not at the villa, we were touring the town by the golf carts we rented and enjoying drinks and conversation with locals and other tourists at the nearby lounge, bars and restaurants (Kama lounge, The Palapa, Ak’Bol and Molly’s restaurant and Irish pub to name a few). We went snorkeling, diving and visited Mayan Ruins that Yvette helped organized for us. That was surely the upside of having everyday assistance. The heat was definitely on in San Pedro which made the rain water showers perfect for a cool down after a hot day. A piece of advice, do not forget bug spray, you are in the Caribbean, with that said; it will be all smooth sailing and one awesome vacation. We enjoyed our time in San Pedro, and staying at Bamboo House villa definitely gave us the tropical Caribbean feel of our vacation. When you want the experience of nature, relaxation and fun, BamBoo House Belize would be a place I recommend. It is as close of just half mile from town for when you want the party scene, but far enough to get the peace and quiet for your relaxation.

THE place to stay in San Pedro

  • 5 of 5

To echo some of the other reviews, Bamboo House is truly incredible. The property is rather large and can accommodate large groups easily, with plenty of common space on the main deck with the pool and the palapa area down below. The location is a huge selling point! The house is across the street from the beach, with tons of nearby bars and restaurants within walking distance. And with a simple golf cart rental, you can easily get in and out of town. Plus, the views of the sunset on the lagoon just can't be beat!

But what really makes this place a cut above the rest is the staff. The owners Bertrand and Kimberly went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time imaginable and we did. They were great resources when it came to activities and restaurant/bar recommendations and were happy to help us make plans whenever we asked. Edwin, Cathy and Elizabeth were such an accomodating staff and made us feel right at home. All in all, I can confidently say our trip would not have been nearly as wonderful or memorable had we stayed somewhere else. We will be back!!

My friends and I had an amazing time at Bamboo House. Bertrand, his family, and his staff were extremely hospitable. This is the second time I've been to Belize and this visit was even better than the last, mainly because of Bamboo House's inviting atmosphere and terrific location. The view of the lagoon from the main deck was so beautiful and allowed us to watch the sunset every night. We are able to easily access the town, beach, bars, restaurants, and more! Bertrand also helped us organize our daily activities that were both close and convenient. We can't wait to visit Bamboo House again soon!

Amazing Experience...

  • 5 of 5

All I can say about the Bamboo House is that is was everything we were hoping for and more. The house is gorgeous, the staff first class and the location cannot be beat. I was with a group of 8 people and everyone of us loved our experience. If you are traveling with a large group of friends or as a family this is the place for you. It's location allows you to experience everything the island has to offer. Whether a quick golf cart ride to city center or a walk on the beach to La Palapa for some cold drinks in a tube, nothing is far away.

Most importantly Bertrand(the owner), his family and staff are always trying to improve your experience. They genuinely care about their guests and that is all you can ask for.

This is my first review of any kind. Plain and simple it was a trip of a life time and want to make sure people make the Bamboo House there desitination in San Pedro.

This home is NOT as shown other than it is the correct structure. Home is rundown, a/c doesnt work properly, internet was out, tv doesnt come on half the time and those are the good things! Erica (the cook) leaves food out on the counter all night (a bird actually broke through the kitchen screen and ate some of the food). If she saves any food, it remains in the fridge until YOU throw it out. YOU are expected to buy even the basics (toilet paper, paper towels, WATER for the cooler, dish soap, etc). You have no access to garbage bags as they are locked in the office so in our case, the lobster shells overflowed onto the floor and sat there all night. The caretaker, Edwin and his wife are extremely nice and have a young son who played with one of the kids in our party. The two downstairs bedroom are over run with sand fleas (at least that is what i think they were) and very hot. There is NO HOT WATER so be prepared for that. NO TOILET PAPER IS ALLOWED IN THE TOILETS so there is a can next to the toilet to put the soiled tp. With the lack of A/C you can imagine the smell. PLEASE dont let the owner tell you that this is how it is on the island. That is not true for the most part. Many homes (especially ones in this price category) have HOT WATER AND FLUSH TOILETS. The lower level deck is ok but we were warned not to go near the water. The so called beach DOES NOT belong to this property. You must cross a dirt area, cross a dirt road, take a trail and when you get there it is nothing. There is no swimming and all the other properties have private beach signs up. You must rent a golf cart if you are to get to town, stores, beach, etc. Edwin can drive you but if you have more than a couple of people in your party it wont work. We left 3 days early and moved to a resort on the Island since we could no longer stand it. We have friends in Belize on the Islands and they were HORRIFIED with the details of this property. It is without a doubt the worst home we have ever rented and we have rented MANY homes in many Countries. I have never felt the need to warn people before but this was a complete nightmare. I would suggest you rent anything other than his property.

Owner's Response: ALL complaints are attended to after we are informed of them. We have now changed the television and the AC and the internet are fixed. Edwin the Grounds Manager, Yvette the Property Manager, the housekeeper and the cook is always at our guests disposal for their entire stay at BamBoo House. Any request, inquiries or complaints are to be forwarded to them at the time of your stay. In BamBoo House we have only FLUSHING TOILETS, we just ask not to throw any tissues in them because they can clog. Plumbing in BELIZE is different than USA. Rooms and bathrooms are clean every day and the garbage is disposed of by our housekeeper. About the beach, we have never stated we are located on the beach. Our pictures on our VRBO page clearly show that we are however, near the lagoon. The beaches which are located nothing more than 100 yards from BamBoo House are not private. All beaches and docks are public in BELIZE. The roads near our home are being fixed into new concrete roads since September 2014. As we stated on our VRBO page, Edwin takes one trip a day in town to assist our guests with buying their groceries. Our golf cart is a four-seater; of course it will not carry more than four people. We have 12 bikes at your disposal, if you need a golf cart; we advise you by email how to obtain them. Because we want to make sure our guests have a good and welcoming arrival after their travel, we make it our mission to go the extra mile for them. For our guests arrival we provide a free meal for everyone in their party (shrimp ceviche, Belizean stew chicken and coconut rice) . We have hired some new staff members. We have a new housekeeper, cook and a Property manager who is always on site. We would only make a refund if we are not there personally to check and verify that your stay was not as you have mentioned, which is highly unlikely, we aim to please our guests. We easily accept complaint from our customers, it help us to know where to better ourselves; we are very opened minded. We will keep on doing our best for our customers. We understand that our home cannot please everybody, but we always maintain BamBoo House at a high level. We wish you the BEST! Bertrand BOULANT

Bamboo House Review

  • 4 of 5

We had a 2 couples and 6 singles in our party for the two weeks we stayed at the Bamboo House. It was everyone’s first time in San Pedro.

There are lots of accommodation options on this long, narrow caye. We chose the Bamboo House primarily for location, ability to accommodate a large group, and value for money.

The house is on the lagoon side about ½ mile past the bridge to the ‘north island’. The north island seems to still be in development mode and is a little more rustic than south of San Pedro. The road is a bit on the rough side but you get accustomed to dodging potholes. There’s a market store just north of the bridge with all the necessities. There are also a fair number of small bars/restaurants in the immediate area (Legends, Pirates Treasure, Jolly Roger, Coco Loco, Felize and, our favorite, Palapa which is a local legend). We’d often ask Edwin to drive us to town for supplies or to drop us off for the day but, with 10 people, renting our own golf cart made some sense too. Note there’s a $10B round-trip charge for rented golf carts going over the bridge.

It was nice having the option of Camilla cooking our meals, as eating out can be quite expensive on Ambergris Caye. Camilla was accommodating in terms of preparing local dishes or our requests. Lillian was friendly and thorough in cleaning the rooms every day. Edwin was always available and accommodating... cleaning the pool, looking after any issues, etc. He also teed up a couple of great boat excursions with a fabulous father/son duo, Sullivan and Arnold.... we went snorkeling, fishing, and to Caye Caulker with them.

The master suite on the 2nd level is certainly the nicest bedroom. The rooms on the ground floor rely on AC for air movement while the palapa room relies solely on the natural breeze. Some folks will take issue with no hot water and lack of water pressure in most of the sinks. If Bertrand can figure that out, he’ll appeal to a wider clientele. That said, if you’re looking for other accommodations in San Pedro, confirm AC and hot water, as lots of places won’t have one or the other.

The Bamboo’s two dogs, Boudha and Banane, were lovable from day one and would often escort us on beach walks.

Renting a house may not be for everyone.... buying the food and consumables might be considered a bit of a hassle and the closeness may not work for everyone. But there are pro’s and con’s to staying in a hotel too. Value for money, the Bamboo House is a good choice in San Pedro.
