Duck Cottage Rental Photos and Description

The Outer Banks of North Carolina are actually large sand bars that are remnants from the last Ice Age of 18,000 years ago. At that time the coast of North Carolina extended 50 -75 miles east of where the ocean meets the shore today. A large river delta became populated with high ridges of sand that were built up by the winds from the west, the mainland, clashing with the winds and weather from the east, coming off of the Atlantic Ocean.
As the Ice Age subsided, the melting ice caused the Ocean levels to rise. The rising water slowly covered the delta but left these large ridges of sand protruding above the ocean's surface creating what we call Barrier Islands. With the Ocean to the east of these ridges and the Sound Waters to the west, the modern day Outer Banks were formed. These islands are a well know vacation spot along the eastern coast of North Carolina.
Third Wish was built in 1982 in the classic style of a beach cottage of that era. It is comfortable and cozy, well maintained and updated to give you the best of both worlds. It has the feel and accents of cottages of the past with the added luxury to accomodate a relaxing and eventful vacation. The interior is warm and welcoming with a very well equipped kitchen and a spacious dining / family area on the top floor, and four bedrooms and two full baths on the first floor. The walls are mostly lined with juniper panneling adding to the feel and comfort of a vacation cottage.
Third Wish is an intimate setting with enough space, inside and out, to accomadate and sleep eight without the decadance and
loss of privacy that has become closer to the norm in the trend of the 'Mini Hotels' built in the recent past.
The large and sturdy decks along with a spacious pool and pool yard add much to be enjoyed by just stepping outside of the cottage doors. Add the hot tub and star lit skys, like you may have never seen, and this will prove to be a vacation you will cherish.
The cottage supplies bikes and beach chairs / umbrellas for your enjoyment and transport. Once you have setup on the beach use the bikes to get quickly back and forth to the house, or ride the bikes into town for shopping and an abundant choice of eataries. There are no cross streets, so the biking is safe and easy.
There are two bedrooms with queen beds and two bedrooms with two twins each. The perfect setup for two families of four, or you and your extended family.
If you are an early riser, brew a cup of coffee, grab your camera, and go enjoy a sunrise. They are typically breath taking, with the ocean calm and the wild life active.
There are wild horses, foxes, deer, sea gulls, plovers and pelicans, among other outdoor life to observe and enjoy.

About The Owner
I am a computer specialist from Virginia and met my wife at Radford University, where we graduated in 1980. I am originally from Roanoke Virginia and lived in Virginia Beach for a time when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade. We rented a cottage on 67th Street in Virginia Beach before buying a house there, and that was when I built a special affection for the shore and beach life. I got to experience shore life year round, and it was alot different than just being there for the yearly beach vacation.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2000
Why The Owner chose Duck
My family and I had been going to the OBX for over ten years when we decided to buy a cottage in Duck. We normally rented a house north of Duck in Whale Head and Ocean Sands for our summer vacations. We then stayed two years in Duck on vacation before looking to buy there.
What makes this cottage unique
We love coming to the beach year round and typically make no fewer than 8 - 10 trips to our house per year. Since we share our home with vacationers, we may go only once during the summer season, but as many times as we can during the spring and fall.
