EDELWEISS LODGE - BRAND-NEW, PRIVATE LUXURY RETREAT

The owner is nice as can be, very professional and easy to contact. He went out of his way to take care of any little inconvenience we had. The house is more beautiful and spacious than the pictures can show. The furniture and beds are very comfortable. The bunk room was perfect for our boys. It feels as if you borrowed a friend's mountain home. The driveway is steep and a little difficult to turn around in if you are driving a large SUV as we were but that is the trade off for being in the mountains. There is property to the rear of the home to walk and explore. It basically leads to the top of the mountain were there is nothing but vegetation and wildlife. We saw deer, wild turkeys and chipmunks. One of our favorite things about the house was sitting on the deck at night and seeing the sky filled with millions of stars. That is something we miss out on living in the city. It seems very remote but is actually only fifteen minutes into Blowing Rock. We drove to Blowing Rock, Boone and Valle Crusis within a very reasonable amount time. Several grocery stores, shops and things to do in the area. Blowing Rock has a fabulous public park. We would definitely stay again. Take high efficency laundry detergent and be prepared to dispose of your garbage at the dumpster site in town (this is very common). We can't wait to return again!
