The house was built in 1791 and is fully updated with many of its original features intact. If you are interested in a village rental it is in a terrific location in town where a very good coffee shop is steps away as are several good restaurants and a very good small high quality grocery and butcher. Walpole is an absolutely beautiful town which unlike other New England towns does not have a highway or large through road bisecting the town. There is a colonial common and virtually all the houses in town have historical value given the area was the colonial frontier a fact evidenced by a monument to two towns people who were killed by Indians.
It's also a great house/base to ski from given the number of Southern Vermont and New Hampshire ski areas that are reasonably close. Those who want to ski can do so while others in the family/group can shop or pursue other activities.

Our family are avid skiers and enjoy the outdoors.

Our family loves Walpole. We have skied in NH/VT for years and enjoy being located so we can ski different mountains (about 45 minutes to Okemo, Stratton, Dartmouth while Ascutney and Magic and Bromley are a bit closer) and being close enough to push up to the bigger Northern tier VT mountains (Stowe, Sugarbush, Etc) a few times a season. Sunapee, is about a hour away and Loon, Cannon etc a bit further up the road, but all very doable for day skiing.
Hunting, fishing, boating on CT river, hiking alone or with Walpole Walkers club are all great fun. We do not engage ourselves, but snowmobilingnis a big deal in town which is connected to a massive trail network.
Great people. Lovely comfortable home close to Hartford where many flights (Bradley Airport is a 1.5 hour traffic free drive down 91) leave early to destinations all over US. Lots of good restaurants and shopping in Keene, NH.
