Newly built one-bedroom suite in Kauai's 'upcountry' at the base of the Makaleha mountains on a one-acre property. Wake up to the sound of birds and the beautiful view of the Makaleha waterfalls from the property. The peace and quiet is ideal for vacationers, business visiters, and residents seeking short-term housing. Newlyweds love the privacy and tranquility the property offers. The suite has a private bath and fully equipped kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave oven, blender, toaster, counter-top stove and coffee maker with separate dining and living areas. Island-style furnishings with ceiling fans in each room along with the granite counters and travertine tile add elegance to the already breathtaking surroundings. The bedroom is furnished with a Cal-king bed with a Tempurpedic mattress. There is also a sleeper sofa for the kids. Amenities include satellite TV, a DVD player with a DVD library for your viewing pleasure, and wireless internet. Beach towels, boogie boards, ice cooler and beach chairs are provided as well.
From the outside sitting area enjoy the lush tropical vegetation including banana, pineapple, mango, papaya, bamboo, ginger flowers, and palm trees that surround the property. The property was recently featured on the Discovery Channel's series Buying Hawaii. Look for us in the episode of 'Flying Kauai.' We rocked it.
Quaint downtown Kapaa is located only 3.5 miles away. There you will find shopping, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and grocery stores. Kapaa is conveniently located midway between the North Shore and Poipu.

The scenery at the base of the Makaleha mountains is unrivaled -- from the sublime rainbows that greet you in the morning to the 1,000-foot waterfalls out the back door to the planetarium-like night skies. The property is expansive, the setting is rural and it is very private.
The property is minutes away from 'downtown' Kapaa where shopping, restaurants, local watering holes and beaches are all close by.
A lovely place to stay. Central to all amenities. For longer stays, I would need a full kitchen but we managed just fine for a few days. Papayas, bananas, grapefruit, oranges, lemons, limes, pineapples..a wonderful abundance generously shared by the owners.
We really enjoyed our stay this a very nice unit, it has everything you need. And the view is outstanding. The host is so nice and provided us with fresh fruit and allowed me to use her computer to book our reservation on to Kona.
We would come back tomorrow if we could.

This place is amazing! It has everything you need: kitchenette, living room, bedroom, bathroom, separate entrance and a stunning view. You get to hear the sounds of the nature and enjoy fresh air all day long. The location is perfect: close to the airport, half way to north and west shore. We loved to get the sunrise at Lydgate park which is 15 minutes drive.
About the host: Julie is wonderful. She met us with fresh fruits and made our stay as pleasant as it could be. We would definitely come back to stay in this house!
Our family stayed 8 nights at this beautiful property over the end of 2014. The apartment is very clean and met all our needs. The kitchen is a bit small but did not deter us from cooking some fresh seafood!
Our kiddos loved to feed the ducks every am. The location is pretty convenient and a short drive to the beach and Kapaa downtown. Overall, a beautiful and well kept property. Will absolutely love to return!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Julie's place for 5 days in September, 2014. It is a nice setup. On the plus side, the view from the back is spectacular. Lush, dramatic, everything Kauai. There's a nice spot in the yard for relaxing outdoors. They have ducks outside... quite quaint. It's a decent sized apartment. The bed is quite comfortable. The other amenities were fine--though the plugin stove was not quite strong enough to boil water all the way.
The location was good, not great; the neighborhood is nice and quiet, but it takes about 10 minutes to get to Kapaa, 45 minutes to the north or south part of the island. But we knew that going in.
Two disappointments for us. First, the noise--Julie had house-sitters for all but our last night. They were nice enough, but each night they had people over and made a fair amount of noise. (On their last night, had what sounded like a small party, stomping on the floor above the apartment.) Not loud enough make too big of a deal, but not ideal. The last night, when Julie was there... no problems at all. The other downside was that the apartment wasn't immaculate: there was enough dirt/debris on the floor to not want to go barefoot until we vacuumed. Again, not the end of the world, but I didn't want to vacuum on vacation.
All in all, I think it's a nice place... but I think Julie makes it the experience folks refer to in other reviews. You may want to make sure Julie is there, and not someone else looking after the property.
I arrived in Kapaa on June 20th, 2014 and stayed for 11 days. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Julie is a gracious hostess and gave me several of her delicious freshly picked papayas and limes from her garden. The property is absolutely breathtaking and the view of the mountains and distant waterfalls was epic. You DO need a vehicle because this property is in an upscale really nice QUIET neighborhood. They have three adorable ducks that roam the property along with a resident donkey in the field across from them. Julie has two cute small dogs that greeted me in the morning! The place is clean, comfortable, relaxing and nice. I slept in a huge king size bed and listened to the geckos churp at night. I was awakened with the crowing of roosters. Cows roam the fields also (other properties) and there is a small creek there too. It was great having a full size fridge, a blender, coffee maker and microwave. There is a vacuum, hot plate, beach chairs, propane grill and more. There is a full bathroom with a great tub. The water is always hot but especially in the evening. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to enjoy the aloha spirit and feel completely relaxed for a sublime tropical vacation. The airport is about 15 minutes away as is Walmart and a laundry mat. The beach is maybe 10 minutes away including parking. The beaches in Kapaa are not over crowded and I have rebooked here for a month! MAHALO and ALOHA! Enjoy the beauty of the garden island and relax in Kauai!
