This adorable cottage on Clam Lake was a wonderful find. Spacious and clean. Comfortably accommodated 4 couples for a lovely weekend.
Very nice. Large lot. Well equipped with all the extras. Very clean. Our boys stayed in the bunk room and were able to sleep in. Great Lake for wake boarding. Enjoyed the river cruise to Lake Bellaire and going out to the sandbar on Torch. We were able to tie our 23' boat to the dock which was nice.
Would highly recommend.
We had a great time at the house. Great views from the fire pit each night. The yard was huge plenty of room for the kids to play. We had room for our boats and jet skis with no problem. Staying on Clam vs Torch was a huge difference. This lake is so calm and great for skiing or tubing with the boat. Then a 15-20 min trip gets you to the sandbar which is a must. Just be careful that channel on a Sat night is a little crazy next to the Dockside restaurant. We look forward to coming back again next year. We only wish there was a sandbox in the yard since the land is all rocks along the waters edge. Other then that everything was awesome from the welcome basket to the kitchen with all the cooking utensils you could need.
We had a wonderful long weekend at this beautiful, cozy home just off Clam Lake. The home was very clean and very inviting. There were clean linens, lots of blankets, and even a welcome basket waiting for us when we arrived. The were was also a fridge, coffee maker, plenty of pots and pans, and a washer and dryer for us to use. Additionally, there was a nice flat screen TV and DVD player in the family room.
What we really enjoyed was the privacy! The home is located on a quiet street and there's a bedroom with a door on the first floor. Two bedrooms with doors on the second floor and two bedrooms with a nice curtain partition also on the second floor. There's also a bunkhouse that is very cozy and can comfortably sleep three or more. The owners also allowed us to use the garage, where we found a grill, bins for recycling cans and bottles, and sticks for bonfires.
There's no air conditioning, but there's plenty of ventilation. We opened the windows during the day and got a wonderful breeze. Also, there is no Wi-fi, but that is truly a good thing, because you can really "unplug" from society. Lastly, there's only one inside the house, but there is a shower outside, and two toliets, so you can make it work! They are minutes from Torch Lake, Short's Brewery, a great boat rental company, and downtown Alden. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back! There were 12 adults and we are all very comfortable! I highly recommend this home!!
We stayed here last summer and had an amazing week. The home was so cozy and inviting and the kids LOVED the bunkhouse! We brought our 25 ft boat up which was great. We were able to get through the entire chain of lakes with no problems (we were nervous to go through grass river to lake Bellaire, but it worked out great). Torch lake was less than 5 minutes away by boat, and we definitely enjoyed our daily boat trips to the sand bar. We really loved clam lake for skiing and wakeboarding, and the boys spent many hours reeling in tons of fish. Every night we had a bonfire after we enjoyed the amazing sunset. Torch lake can be very windy and choppy at times, but being on Clam lake was always calm and sheltered from the wind. The property is so amazing and aloud the kids to play many yard games. The owners were so great, we never had a single problem, but they still checked in to make sure everything was good. The house is old, but so clean with wonderful bedding and extremely clean! I can't say enough good things about this home. I would recommend it to anyone! Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your amazing piece of paradise. I wish there was a way for me to add pictures of our vacation, your pictures do not do it justice! I was actually on your web site today looking to book again for this summer, looks like my little slice of paradise has become very popular, I better book something quick! Thanks again!
Our family of four plus two additional teenagers had a wonderful week at this charming home. It is more than 100 years old but has been updated nicely while maintaining its character. It was very clean -- I'm picky! -- and thoughtfully stocked with abundant (new!) towels, linens, wood for the bonfire pit, picnic supplies, etc. There was nothing we lacked all week.
Our girls loved sleeping in the rustic bunkhouse, and the boys felt like they had their "own space" in the room on the converted porch. The main floor bathroom is large, and the outdoor shower worked well. The upstairs half bathroom is small but nice to have when multiple people want a bathroom at the same time! The house does not have air conditioning but there are many large floor fans, and almost always a nice breeze off the water.
Speaking of the water, this cottage is only a 5 minute boat ride to beautiful (but often very choppy while we were there) Torch Lake, and a 45 minute (no wake zone) boat ride to Lake Bellaire. Clam Lake was great for tubing, knee boarding, and wake boarding because it was protected from the winds that stirred up the bigger lakes. Somewhat busier on the weekend, the lake was surprisingly quiet during the week, and never loud at night or in the morning. We rented a boat for the week and kept it tied to the dock with no issues. Our kids enjoyed using the provided rowboat but never managed to catch a fish. I think that had more to do with their skills than the lake!
The owners were terrific to work with, answering all of our questions and leaving phone numbers where they could be reached if needed. I would not hesitate to rent from them again, and we can happily recommend this cottage to others!
