A beautiful newly renovated turn of the century beach cottage 1/2 a block from the Long Island Sound and steps to Walnut Beach awaits!

Perfect for vacationers who enjoy kite and wind surfing, cycling, sailing or kayaking. If you enjoy tennis, the local recreation center up the block has tennis. The nearby Audubon Nature Center on the Housatonic River provides excellent summer programs for families with young children. Enjoy casting for blue fish at the end of the street or building a sand castle during the annual competition each summer. Artist fairs on the historic town green are a local attraction as are the oyster and lobster festivals each year. Or just enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk which connects to Silver Sands State Park and explore Charles Island at low tide.

If you want a summer retreat for the entire summer, Metro North is only 5 minutes away and the city 1 hour 20 for those that need to commute for work. New England beach living at reasonable prices!

Enjoy quiet comfy bedrooms: Each room is gorgeously decorated from the master bedroom with king bed to the two guest rooms one with full sized bed and the other a single. All rooms have ceiling fans and A/C units as well as feather beds for extra comfort.

In the living room, the sofa converts to a surprisingly comfortable queen bed. Perfect for those extra guests on weekends.

BBQ and enjoy the gardens: The 'just right sized' backyard is perfect for family BBQ's and entertaining. Teaky torches and candles provide nice touches. In summer enjoy cut flowers from the garden or picking strawberries from the front yard.

The area was once a holiday makers seaside destination complete with amusement park. Now it's being revitalized and art galleries are moving in to our little shopping district which survived Hurricane Sandy just fine!

I treat my house like a B'n'B without the breakfast. You'll find each room is extremely well appointed and comfortable with attention to details. It's not a bare bones rental. It's a real home full of my things for others to enjoy down to the collection of art books and 3D puzzles! I believe that details are important down to making sure planters of herbs are available for guests to use and enjoy!

A quaint New England village located on the Long Island Sound, Milford, Connecticut, founded in 1639, is the sixth oldest town in Connecticut. Boasting the second longest town green in New England, it hosts numerous art fairs in addition to lobster and oyster festivals throughout the summer. Conveniently located just 65 miles from New York City, Milford is easily accessible via interstate or by taking the MetroNorth train making this the perfect summer home for families that need to commute to the city for work. The station, located in the heart of the village, is within easy walking distance of restaurants, bike/kayak rentals, shops and beautiful harbor where outdoor concerts are held weekly in summer. The rental property, located just steps from the beautiful sandy Walnut Beach, is located between Silver Sands State Park and the Housatonic River. Cycling, kayaking, sailing, fishing, windsurfing and kiting are all popular activities here.

Other Activities: Enjoy kayaking, windsurfing or kite surfing on the Sound or fishing, at the end of the block. Bird lovers will enjoy the observation deck over looking the Housatonic River at the Audubon Nature Center just down the road. Always a fun family outing, catch the Bluefish, the minor league baseball team in Bridgeport just 15 minutes away.

Golf: The Great River Golf Club offers a challenging championship course as well as excellent dining at Monty's River Grille.

Wonderful family vacation

This beach home is beautifully decorated and conveniently located. It is a very short walk to access a small beach and a just a little longer (walking distance) to the Silver Sands park beach - both beaches were great for the kids (water is very calm, tidal pools to play in at low tide) and were uncrowded. We also enjoyed visiting the local ice cream shop (several times!). We had a few rainy days and made daytrips to the Mystic Aquarium and Norwalk Stepping Stones Children's museum. It was great to relax in the home or yard at the end of the day - we all slept well, the beds were exceptionally comfortable!

The owner was very helpful - She answered all my questions before our stay promptly and provided lots of suggestions on things to do and information about the home and area. I would definately recommend this home for a wonderful family getaway!

Perfect Cottage Setting

The house was great!

It was the perfect place to spend a week after my nephews beautiful beach wedding. Even though there were 5 of us, there was ample room for everyone. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with, and let's not forget it's walking distance to the beach (although one day we took a ride down to the public parking because we had a lot of stuff!)

Oh and go to the Lazy Lobster and order the Cajun shrimp!!! YUM

A Perfect Stay

I've just tried to review for our perfect stay, but I'm not sure I was successful. We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was great : the house, the location, the beach etc.

Really charming beach house

This is a beautiful, meticulously cared for and decorated house that is still very comfortable and home-like. I had a couple of minor issues, so I can report that the owner and caretaker are both very responsive. I loved the long boardwalk on the beach and the state park behind it. I did walk to the island at low tide, and sat for an hour or so looking at the sailboats. There are a couple of great restaurants in the area, including a beachfront Italian restaurant about two blocks away. I also recommend the Walnut Beach Creamery – I think it's closed in winter, but it has unique and delicious home made ice cream. There was a pumpkin festival on the beach while I was there. Not much, but clearly a community effort. I would definitely recommend this cottage to someone looking for a temporary home or a very comfortable beach vacation.

Beautiful House

My husband, myself and our little dog Bailey had a wonderful stay here. The house was so beautifully decorated, very comfy,cozy and clean. It was close to the beach and a beautiful boardwalk. It is also close to town where we enjoyed shopping at the little shops near the green. We stopped at a great Italian restaurant. We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back!
