Overview

Austin House Rental Photos and Description

Bungalow, 1200 sq. ft., 2 Bedrooms, Office Area, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 5

Upon check-in you'll receive your own keyless security code to let you into your new home away from home. The main bedroom is furnished with a queen bed. The second bedroom has a daybed that folds out comfortably into a king size bed or can just be used as a twin bed. There's also an additional twin bed in the second bedroom. There's a full size kitchen, a large living room, and laundry. The 10 foot ceilings and large windows make the home feel even larger than it is. This historic home was completely remodeled in 2010 and includes different residences, but it still has its old character and charm from 1915. There's a large fully fenced back yard with a patio set perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Location is everything! Stay in one of the most trendy and historic neighborhoods in Austin. The location is ideal for families or anyone that would like to be close to all of the attractions that Austin has to offer, but also a quiet, relaxing, and safe neighborhood and home to come back to after exploring.

Walk a few blocks and you can have breakfast or coffee at one of the best bakeries in Austin, shop at a local grocery store, have lunch at several restaurants, view the many early 1900 Victorian homes, or an afternoon snack at a local sandwich shop that's been open since 1909. If you want to travel somewhere farther away in Austin, the bus route is on the next street. Hop right onto the bus and go anywhere for $1. If you need any recommendations on places to eat or see in Austin, we are more than happy to help any time.

beautiful, clean property

  • 5 of 5

This rental is in a neat and quiet part of Austin yet close to downtown, shopping and restaurants. I've never seen a rental property so clean!! It was fully furnished and felt like home. Pete was just an email away if you needed anything at all, which we didn't because everything was just perfect!

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for a home base to explore Austin from. This location is perfect. Great access to freeways and main roads but tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of Hyde Park. Easy walk to Hyde Park Bar and Grill (food), Quack's Bakery (pastries), Dolce Vita (coffee AND cocktails). Grocery and gas at the same location. Very convenient. You will be torn by wanting to spend all your time in Hyde Park and wanting to get out and explore Austin's famous attractions. We found ourselves looking forward to getting back to "our neighborhood" after being about town throughout the day. We suggest a walk or two around the area. The architecture, and gardens are amazing. Grackles and Doves are all over the place. There is even a neighborhood close by with a flock of resident Peacocks roaming the yards.

The home itself is as advertised. Tastefully modern "Ikea" decor and outfitted appropriately for a couple or small family. While there is ample closet space in the loft bedroom, we would suggest more lighting in the closet area and perhaps a few more outlets for power hungry handheld devices. The stairs are steep but the rail is solid and will assist if needed. We did not use the beds downstairs (in what amounts to an enclosed sunroom), but they look comfy. The bathroom is not large but the clawfoot tub is nice for a soak and the on-demand hot water does not disappoint for a log shower.

The living room is large and the couch is comfortable and relaxing. We would suggest a privacy curtain along with the decorative drapes in the front windows for unit B. There is a lot of foot traffic in Hyde Park so watching TV at night is a little like sitting in the front yard. The kitchen has all the basics, but we only used the refrigerator and coffee pot. Seriously, go out and eat your way around Austin!

Pete was very accommodating and responsive before, during and after our stay. We would recommend this unit or any of the other units in this house.

Clean, light, and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We fully enjoyed staying at this location, and would rent it again if returning to Austin. The place is located in a wonderful, walkable neighborhood...10 minute walk to a grocery store and 5 minute walk to the bus stop. Also, we walked one night (less than 10 min.) to the Hyde Park Grill for dinner, which we can also recommend. Right next to the Hyde Park Grill were other restaurants and a deli...really no need to rent a car. The inside of the home was clean, spacious, and light, but darkens nicely at night for sleeping. The owner was very responsive both before our stay, and during the stay.

Very nice place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was a good place to stay. It's just as it appears in the pictures. Immaculate and in a beautiful residential location with lots of nice eating places, a bakery and grocery stores within walking distance. It was quiet and had everything we needed and the landlord was quick to respond to our needs. It's a great location in Central Austin. I would stay here again!!!

A lovely home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

The listing for this property was very accurate. Hyde Park is a lovely residential neighborhood. The unit was extremely clean and nicely decorated. The upstairs bedroom was spacious with a large amount of closet space and plenty of lighting. The queen mattress was extremely comfortable. The stairs leading to that bedroom are narrow, but very solid and secure.

The living room was great. It has a huge sofa, large coffee table, and two desks for computers/games, etc. The TV is a modern flat panel HD model.

The kitchen was very spacious. While there is no automatic dishwasher, the large double sink and plastic dish drain allowed us to easily keep up with the dishes--and we typically ate 1-2 meals a day at the rental. Scrubbers, dish soap, and dish towels were all provided. The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator with a Brita pitcher. Most utensils were provided, as well as salt, pepper, and dry goods left by the the owner or previous renters that made it easier to use. The only items lacking were bakeware, such as a pizza pan and a 13x9 pan, which would have been helpful.

The laundry facilities are in a detached garage. We came prepared with laundry soap and dryer sheets, but if you get lucky, there might be some left in the laundry room for community use. The easiest access to the laundry is through the door facing the back yard instead of the street, since the overhead light is visible at that entrance.

The bathroom had a modern toilet and sink with a nice mirror, and plenty of very absorbent towels. The tub is an old-style claw-foot tub, which can be either very charming or a bit of a challenge, depending on your height, age, or any disability. We managed, but it was our least favorite feature of the house. If you love the idea of long soaks in a deep tub, then you will be thrilled.

We did not use the back room of the rental, which contained a dinette with seating for four, as well as an oversized day bed and a regular twin bed.

Be sure to visit Quack's Bakery and the businesses at 43rd and Duval. The staff at Antonelli's were great, and we enjoyed a dinner at Hyde Park Grill. For the best prices, if you have a car, go to H-E-B for groceries. Central Market was also very good but a bit more expensive, and Fresh Plus the most expensive and smallest.

Pete was a wonderful landlord and very responsive to my many questions before our stay. We would definitely rent from him again if we returned to Austin.

Great Close-In Home!

  • 5 of 5

This property was so clean, spacious, and lovely! I really enjoyed my stay here. Pete (owner/manager) was so responsive to all my questions or issues. Checking in and out was a breeze. Neighborhood is so quaint, quiet, but close to so many things including UT and Downtown. The property was definitely well maintained and the pictures he has on this site are very accurate. Except you got a lot more space than I had anticipated!! I would definitely rent from one of Pete's units again.
