Within a few minutes of popular surfing spots on the Island. Come for the surf season of November through March to enjoy great waves on the Kohala Coastline.
If surfing is not your thing…..the best white sand beaches are just a stone’s throw away with sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling in the warm torquise waters. There is whale watching in the winter and Ocean Sports Adventures has whale cruises, dolphin cruises and sunset sails and they are located just a mile or so from this house.
Besides being near the ocean, this house is close to everything: shopping, restaurants, five star resorts, health clubs, golf and great sightseeing. And it’s just over an hour to drive to the Hilo side. Waimea is just 10 miles up the hill with more shopping and entertainment. There is a good farmer’s market there on Saturdays and during the week you can find fresh payayas, bananas and pineapples right here in Kawaihae.
Also in Kawaihae is the Seafood bar….great ambiance, friendly, good food and they have cold Kona Ales. For pizza and pasta, we have Café Pesto and on the weekends great live music and good food at the Blue Dragon.
The accomodations are very attractive, comfortable and clean. I am busy installing solar power systems around the island during the day and surfing or paddling after work. I live in the same neighborhood, just down the street, if you need anything...I am close by. I have a gas grill, so feel free to barbeque and relax on the shade covered deck with the aroma of pikakis and plumerias. There is a bamboo outdoor shower for after the beach, to rinse the sand and salt.
If you are a surfer…glad to offer you tips on where to go and share surf stories. I was born and raised on the island and I have surfed all my life.
My house will sleep 3 couples or a family of 6.
Surfers…….if you are single, there is room for 4 of you to have your own bed and sharing the cost makes it so affordable…now where are you going to find a deal like that?

Privacy in the fenced yard to have friends over and barbeque. Just a few minutes to go to Cafe Pesto or Blue Dragon in Kawaihae. All the great beaches and surf spots are close by!
What a fabulous location! We could zip up to the farmer's market in Waimea in no time...five minutes to great restaurants and live music. Best of all the beach is so close. We loved the outdoor shower and the super kitchen. Everything is well maintained and cared for.

Sufer's Hale worked out well for us. It was reasonably priced and within 5 minutes of some of the best beaches on the Kohala Coast. It is not ON the beach - you must drive down the hill. It was reasonably cozy and had everything we needed.
Downsides: noisy neighbor kids and dogs, broken dryer (probably fixed by now)
The house was nicely updated and clean with a large backyard. There was a park at the end of a dead end street. We chose the spot because it was out of the hustle bustle but close to sandy beaches. The house was really hot though in the evening and the bedroom AC didn't keep up with the living room heat. There were beach towels to take along with us too.I managed to catch wi-fi while I was there once, a nice feature, but I don't know if that was intended or not and I never did get around to calling about that. overall it was a very good experience.
Our family of four (2 small children) have been to Hawaii several times. This place suited our needs perfectly and we were all very comfortable for the week we stayed here. It is clean, well appointed, and close to our favorite beaches. The kitchen is great - sharp knives, new pans/appliances. We especially enjoyed the nice outdoor sitting area and the garden. This is one of the few locations that offers great access to beaches in quiet neighborhood setting that is, unlike many places towards Waimea, tropical both day and night. We are from Canada and are in Hawaii for the warm climate. The owner, who lives on premise, is very conscientious and helpful while at the same time completely inconspicuous. We definitely recommend this place as great family getaway.
Less than 5 minutes to all the best beaches and ocean sports and activites such as whale watching and surfing in the winter.
