100-YEAR-OLD REMODELED FARMHOUSE IN THE ARBUCKLES

Beautifully remodeled house well outside of Davis with nice views from every window. Speaking of windows, this is a farmhouse, and when the sun rises, be ready for a brightly lit room - it will get you up and moving early. High ceilings and an open floor plan make the house feel even bigger than it already is. Luxurious shower and tub are nice after you've spent the day hiking and swimming at nearby Chickasaw Springs (9 miles away). The house has a nice all-room audio system so you can enjoy music or the radio while you're cooking or relaxing on one of the two spacious porches. For the kids, there are giant garden spiders that are sure to be fed by the wide assortment of grasshoppers :). The house is sitting on a working ranch, so there are cows for the city kids to watch - no harassing the livestock, please.

Recommend trying the 77 Grill and Burger Land in town when you need a break from cooking at the house. Both are classic diners with plenty of local color during the busy breakfast and lunch times. Keep in mind that aside from the fast food chains, most of the local restaurants in Davis and nearby towns are closed early and completely closed on Sunday.

There are plenty of historic cemeteries within short driving distance of the house - be ready for the heat if you are staying during the summer, however. If your idea of relaxation involves water, the lake outside of Sulphur (Lake of the Arbuckles in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area) has good fishing, plenty of accessible shoreline, day / overnight campgrounds, and boating access.

Overall, a very nice escape from the crowds here in Dallas, with deep quiet at night and plenty of stars. Recommend heading up the back roads from Dallas, more scenery and places to stop, and a lot more interesting than staring at the back of an 18-wheeler on I-35. Had a great stay, recommended!

Thank you for the wonderful stay. The owners make the property very welcoming and comfortable not only with the home itself and it's furnishings but also with the amenities. You can be away from it all and still enjoy the conveniences of technology. We were looking for a getaway from the noise and bustle of the big city and this is just it. The peaceful breeze on both porches were our favorite part. The owners were flexible with us on a few key points and we really appreciated that. We enjoyed the privacy of the location and getting to see the cows up close ... but still behind the fence. This will definitely be a future choice for a weekend getaway again. Highly recommend!

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay. The owners were so kind and easily available but never intrusive. The price is so reasonable for the size and comfort of the home. Our deposit was returned very quickly as they promised. It's is a great location that is within minutes of both Turner Falls and The Lake of the Arbuckles.

The home is beautiful inside and out. The kitchen is roomy and has all needed utensils, pans, and dishes. The view from the kitchen window at sunset is amazing! The living room is comfortable and cozy, you feel easily at home!! The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. One great features of this home are the porches. They both are great for sitting outside with your morning coffee or evening tea!! We loved just sitting out there watching the kids run and play. The yards around the home are large enough for the kids to run and play freely, play baseball or frisbee and just be kids!!

We had a wonderful vacation and will be back! I've already recommended this home to many friends and do hope that they take my recommendation! I should have gotten to this review earlier but once back in the fray, time goes so quickly!! I can't thank the owners enough for opening this home to vacationers. I had time with my family that is so rare and wonderful and I always felt like I was at home not in a rental!
